Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The unofficial guide to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy contains information helpful in completing all three games that are part of the collection. On the early pages of the guide there is a trophy guide that thoroughly explains how to obtain all trophies in each game. In the trophy descriptions there are pieces of advice related to requirements for unlocking them and how to achieve it. More advanced trophies are described in detail on separate pages of the guide.

The next large chapter of the guide focuses on describing all available levels. In the walkthroughs for levels there is information about potential threats, important treasures that can be found and alternative paths that becomes available after fulfilling specific requirements.

In the final part of the guide there is a chapter about fights with all bosses. In this chapter there is information about where the player will encounter bosses, what attacks they have, the conditions of battles and the best way to defeat them without losing lives. The guide ends with pages about controls and system requirements.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a collection that contains three classic platform games – Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. Each game was recreated from basics, but the gameplay principles and the layout of levels isn’t different than in the classic versions of these titles. In these games the player is traveling through levels placed in various environments and filled with many traps, enemies and chests with fruits and other treasures. Each level is rather short, but the player is encouraged to keep repeating it in order to beat time trial high scores and to find previously unavailable treasures.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

  • genre: Arcade

  • developer: Vicarious Visions
  • publisher: Activision Blizzard
  • platform: PS4
  • rated: +3

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for PlayStation 4 is a bundle of three classic platformers of Naughty Dogs team. It includes the first Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back and Warped, all of which were remastered by Vicarious Visions studio, known from titles like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, Skylanders Superchargers and a few other projects.
New versions of Crashs first adventures were completely remade. Developers did not simply overhaul its visuals, but created most of the content from scratch. This means redesigned levels, new textures and special effects, as well as characters models. Cutscenes were also modified, though they are still inspired by original versions.
However, Vicarious Visions did not stop there and added a new save system, letting players save manually or through autosave. Additionally, all games received Time Trial mode that originally debuted in Warped.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy Review The Bandicoot is Back in Town

More than 20 years after the release of its first installment, Crash Bandicoot returns in a remastered trilogy prepared by the team at Vicarious Visions. Can this once-progressive title still hold its ground against modern titles?

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Xbox One version listed in an online store

So far Activision has only confirmed the PlayStation 4 version of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. However, there are hints suggesting the title is heading to Xbox One and PC.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy may be coming to PC

So far, PC players never had a chance to play the PS classic Crash Bandicoot on their platform of choice. This may change with the release of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

The trophy guide features information about how to obtain trophies in all games that are part of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It was divided into a few parts. The first part of the guide is a general description of gathering trophies in N. Sane Trilogy. Here you will find information about the difficulty level of trophies, required number of game completions to get them and the general principles of repeating levels to get the missing trophies.

The second part of the guide is a list of all trophies for each game of the trilogy – Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Each trophy has a description informing about unlocking requirements and the easiest way of achieving them.

The last part of the guide features separate pages with descriptions of most advanced trophies – the ones that require completing a series of specific steps in order to unlock them. Descriptions of many trophies feature high quality pictures on which the required actions or places where the player can find most important secrets are marked.

General information about trophies in Crash Bandicoot

Approximate difficulty level of trophies 8-9/10 Crash Bandicoot has definitely the hardest trophies of all games available in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Collecting many of the trophies requires great precision and agility since they are awarded for example for gathering all chests in specific levels without dying even once. This requires repeating same levels many times in order to memorize them and then perfectly perform all moves that enable the player to avoid numerous traps and enemies. Other hard trophies are related to completing time trials. In many missions obtaining the target time requires the player to learn the perfect path and to play without any errors. The only good news is that most of the levels aren’t long and can be completed in less than a few minutes (not counting the time required for repeating sections of levels after dying).

Estimated time required for completing the game in 100% – More than 20 hours. The number of hours required for obtaining the platinum trophy is hard to guess as it all depends on the skills of a player. Additionally, in case of Crash Bandicoot the knowledge of the classic version of the game on which the remake is based is a strong advantage since the levels are very similar in both versions.

Number of trophies 23 – There are 8 bronze trophies, 7 silver trophies, 7 gold trophies and 1 platinum trophy to obtain.

Offline trophies – 23 – All trophies are obtained in singleplayer mode.

Online trophies – 0 – Crash Bandicoot doesn’t have any multiplayer modes.

Does difficulty level impacts obtaining trophies? – Crash Bandicoot doesn’t offer selection of difficulty level. The only handicap is the fact that if Crash dies a few times in a row, the game might slightly help him by summoning an Aku Aku mask. It provides additional protection from some dangers. In addition to that, the game might create an additional check point on the level.

Option to repeat levels – Yes – using this option is actually mandatory as in many levels it is impossible to find all chests during the first attempt. In addition to that, the time trials are unlocked after completing the levels.

Minimum number of required game completions – One + level repeating – Each completed level can be freely repeated, for example in order to get the missing chests or to play a time trial. The levels are selected from the world map on which it is possible to freely move between the available islands.

A plan of obtaining all Crash Bandicoot trophies

Step 1 – Completion of all levels and defeating all bosses

In Crash Bandicoot there are 26 levels to complete (plus additional level Great Hall in which the player only places obtained gems in correct slots). For completing these levels the player doesn’t obtain any trophies, but it is a mandatory action in order to unlock access to repeating them later.

The first trophies can be obtained for winning boss battles. There are six unique enemies to defeat in the game and each of them is awarded with a single trophy. Defeating bosses is awarded with two bronze, two silver and two golden trophies.

Important – You should manually save your game before each new level. If during a level you will lose too many lives, consider exiting it and loading the last save. This will help you in obtaining the trophy On Cloud 99, which is obtained by accumulating 99 lives.

Step 2 – Obtaining all trophies related to various minor activities

Some trophies can be unlocked with little to no effort. For example, Spin Doctor trophy is unlocked by throwing enemy towards another enemy twice and The Box That Broke the Bandicoot’s Back is awarded for missing many boxes during a single level.

Other trophies might require some small effort. For example No Holds Barred is awarded for defeating five enemies as Coco. Feeeed Meeeee! and I See London, I See France is awarded for letting Crash die in specific circumstances.

Step 3 – Unlocking all 26 gems

The real trouble starts here. Two trophies are related to gems – More Gems Are Better Than None and The Ultimate Gem Path. You must start with obtaining six colored gems (by completing selected levels without dying and while destroying all chests) because obtaining them unlocks additional paths in some levels. Only once you have them you can start obtaining 20 “pure” gems obtained for destroying all chests in other levels.

Step 4 – Collecting 26 golden relics

Three trophies are related to relics – Catch Me If You Can!, Could Go… All… The… Way! and Practice Makes Perfect!. What makes things much harder is the fact that two of them require you to obtain golden relics which force you to achieve very good results during time trials. It is a very challenging task that forces you to learn levels perfectly and to complete all actions without making any mistakes or stopping even for one second. These trophies should be obtained as last since they will take the most time.

On this page you will find a list of all trophies available in Crash Bandicoot. Each trophy description features requirements for unlocking them and additional suggestions what is the easiest way of obtaining them. More complicated trophies are described on separate pages of the guide.

Important – Trophy descriptions are still in preparation.

A Hidden Gem

Trophy type: Silver - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must discover a secret path after obtaining a colored gem.

Commentary: Contrary to the official description, the trophy doesn’t require you to have any of the six colored gems – although having it also enables you to get the trophy (information about unlocking the unique colored gems can be found in the section with the description for The Ultimate Gem Path trophy). Obtaining one of the clear gems (Clear gem can be obtained by completing any level while destroying all boxes) and reaching the penultimate level of the game – Great Hall – is a much easier way to get the trophy. In the mentioned level the gems are used for unlocking new platforms. You will get the trophy after using the first gem (it is shown on the above picture).

Catch Me If You can!

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must obtain 5 relics.

Commentary:

Go to the page with the description for the Practice Makes Perfect! trophy. The only difference is that in case of this trophy you can collect any relics, including the “less valuable” sapphire ones.

Cortex N. Capacitated

Trophy type: Gold

How to unlock: You must defeat a boss – Dr. Neo Cortex.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

Cortex’s Crazed Contest

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must obtain the key in the Sunset Vista level.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter.

Cortex’s Terrifying Trial

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must obtain the key in the Jaws of Darkness level.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter.

Could Go… All… The… Way!

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must obtain at least 10 relics (gold or better).

Commentary: Go to the page with the description of Practice Makes Perfect! trophy.

Feeeed Meeeee!

Trophy type: Bronze - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must die by being eaten by a plant.

Commentary: It’s an easy trophy. The carnivorous plants can be encountered in jungle levels, for example in Native Fortress. Get close to one of the plants and let it capture and eat you (as shown on the above picture).

I Meant To Do That!

Trophy type: Bronze - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must use a spin attack to throw away an extra life.

Commentary: It’s an easy trophy that you might unlock accidentally. Extra lives can be found in some of the chests. You can recognize them by the Crash face painted on them. An example chest is shown on the picture above. Use spin attack on one of the boxes, BUT don’t pick up the extra life. Instead, use the spin again and you will throw away (and lose) the extra life.

I See London, I See France

Trophy type: Silver - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must die by being electrocuted.

Commentary: It’s an easy trophy that can be obtained during one of the levels in the castle (Cortex Island). For example you can use The Lab level. Let Crash be mortally electrocuted by one of the devices or by an enemy with electric gloves (above picture).

Koala Konked

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must defeat the boss Koala Kong.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

More Gems Are Better Than None

Trophy type: Gold

How to unlock: You must obtain 13 (of 26) gems.

Commentary: Go to the page with the description of The Ultimate Gem Path gem.

Nitrus Broken

Trophy type: Gold

How to unlock: You must defeat Dr. Nitrus Brio.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

No Holds Barred

1 - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Trophy type: Gold - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Gold

How to unlock: You must eliminate 5 enemies with Coco’s spin attack.

Commentary: It’s the easiest gold trophy in the game. Coco can join you early in the game. After winning the fight with Papu Papu on N. Sanity Island you must select the path down and reach Coco’s Time Machine (picture 1). Confirm selection of this location and let Coco join you.

From now you can select the playable character before starting a level (except for the boss battles) by pressing R2 button. Go back to any level (for example the first level, N. Sanity Beach) and start playing as Coco. Use Spin attack (square button) on the enemies and you will quickly get the trophy (picture 2).

On Cloud 99

Trophy type: Gold

How to unlock: You must amass 99 lives.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

Papu Popped

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must defeat Papu Papu.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

Pinstripe Patooey

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must defeat Pinstripe Potoroo.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

Practice Makes Perfect!

Trophy type: Silver

How to unlock: You must collect 26 relics (gold or better).

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

Ripper Ruined

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must defeat Ripper Roo.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

Spin Doctor

Trophy type: Bronze - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must use spin attack to throw an opponent towards another opponent twice in a single level.

Commentary: There is high probability that you will unlock the trophy accidentally while beating the game since encounters with two enemies happen frequently. If you didn’t unlock the trophy while beating the game, repeat first level of the game, N. Sanity Beach. You can use Spin attack (square button) on the first crab shown on the above picture and on the turtles you encounter later. These enemies should be close enough to each other to be hit with no further complications.

Important – Remember not to jump on the opponents as this won’t let you throw one enemy into another.

That’s What Those Do!

2 - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Trophy type: Bronze - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must collect three character tokens and unlock a bonus round.

Commentary: It’s an easy trophy that you can unlock since the second level in the game – Jungle Rollers. In some destroyed chests there are tokens with various characters on them, for example Coco. Collect three of them and then use the portal found in the same level (shown on picture 2). What makes things much easier is the fact that a portal is almost always near the place where you find the third secret.

The Box That Broke the Bandicoot’s Back

Trophy type: Bronze - Trophy list | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Trophy type: Bronze

How to unlock: You must miss many chests while completing any level.

Commentary: It’s a very simple trophy that can be unlocked even without trying. If somehow you didn’t unlock it automatically, go back to one of previously completed levels. Beat it while ignoring the chests on your way. You will get the trophy once you reach the summary screen (above picture).

The N. Trepid Crash Bandicoot!

Trophy type: Platinum

How to unlock: You must collect all other trophies.

The Ultimate Gem Path

Trophy type: Gold

How to unlock: You must obtain all 26 gems.

Commentary: A detailed description of this trophy can be found on a separate page of this chapter

On this page you will find a detailed description how to unlock the bronze trophy “Papu Popped” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is obtained by defeating the first boss in the game – Papu Papu.

Run or jump away from the place where Papu Papu intends to hit the ground - Papu Popped | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Run or jump away from the place where Papu Papu intends to hit the ground

Papu Papu uses only a long stick to attack. He always starts with hitting the ground with a great force. When you notice he prepares the attack, jump away from his way.

Jump over the stick - Papu Popped | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump over the stick

After the boss hits the ground with the stick, he will start rotating his weapon in the counter-clockwise direction. Luckily it isn’t a very troublesome attack – all you need to do is jump over it at correct time.

Jumping on the head of the boss will stun him and take away one of his health points - Papu Popped | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jumping on the head of the boss will stun him and take away one of his health points

Papu Papu has five health points. They all can be taken away by using the same tactics. Simply jump on the head of the boss (without spinning). Stars will appear around Papu Papu’s head, he will become stunned for a short time and he will lose single health point.

The only thing you should avoid is trying to jump on Papu Papu when Crash is standing directly behind him – the protagonist might bounce off and the boss won’t be hurt. All attacks performed from the front or the sides should be successful.

On this page you will find a detailed description how to unlock the bronze trophy “Ripper Ruined” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is obtained by defeating the second boss in the game – Ripper Roo.

This fight takes place on nine green platforms surrounded by water - this means you must perform very precise jumps, so that you dont jump into the water and die - Ripper Ruined | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

This fight takes place on nine green platforms surrounded by water – this means you must perform very precise jumps, so that you don’t jump into the water and die. What’s interesting, Ripper Roo doesn’t have any direct attacks – the duel ends in failure “only” if you fall into him. The boss jumps with a little delay, giving you enough time to escape from the endangered platform.

What makes the fight MUCH easier is the fact that you can use the side areas marked on the picture. Ripper Roo never jumps into any of them and you can stay there in order to wait for a good time to start or resume weakening the boss.

Jump onto the red chest to initiate a countdown - Ripper Ruined | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump onto the red chest to initiate a countdown

In order to deal damage to Ripper Roo you must use the red Big TNT chests that will be floating down the river and stopping next to each row of green platforms. After jumping on such chest a countdown will start – after a few seconds the chest will explode.

If Ripper Roo is near an explosion, he will lose one health point - Ripper Ruined | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
If Ripper Roo is near an explosion, he will lose one health point

It is best to look for an opportunity to activate the red chests when they reach the middle row of platforms. Once the countdown starts, hide in one of the above mentioned side areas or jump away to a safe platform. Ripper Roo will receive damage if the explosion will occur near him. Repeat this tactics three times in order to win.

On this page you will find a detailed description how to unlock the silver trophy “Koala Konked” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is obtained by defeating the third boss in the game – Koala Kong.

Jump to the sides in order to avoid the small rocks - Koala Konked | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump to the sides in order to avoid the small rocks

During this duel you must remain in the bottom part of the screen. Don’t try jumping over the lava to the upper part where you can see Koala Kong.

At first the boss will throw small rocks at Crash. This will happen three times – each time you must jump away to the sides.

Later in the fight up to two explosive chests might appear near Crash - Koala Konked | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Later in the fight up to two explosive chests might appear near Crash

The rocks thrown by the boss aren’t the only threats – explosive chests will appear near Crash as well. They will always explode a few seconds after appearing. At first it will be only a single chest that is easy to avoid.

Further in the fight up to two explosive chests will appear. Position yourself near the newest chest when it happens. This should provoke Koala Kong to throw the rock in that spot. After jumping away you will be in a safe spot and you won’t have to worry that the next throw will force you to jump towards an explosion.

Throw the big rock back to the boss in order to hurt him (it will only work if the rock wont hit the cart) - Koala Konked | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Throw the big rock back to the boss in order to hurt him (it will only work if the rock won’t hit the cart)

After Koala Kong throws three smaller rocks, he will start preparing to throw a much larger one. You must dodge this one as well. However, after he throws the rock, you can hit it with the Spin attack (square button) and throw it back at the opponent.

Important – Throw the rock back only if there isn’t a cart riding next to Koala Kong. Otherwise the rock will hit the cart instead of hitting the opponent and the duel will last longer. You mustn’t wait too long with the attack because after some time the rock will fall into the lava.

Hitting Koala Kong four times will end the fight.

On this page you will find a detailed description how to unlock the silver trophy “Pinstripe Patooey” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is obtained by defeating the fourth boss in the game – Pinstripe Potoroo.

Dont leave your cover - Pinstripe Patooey | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Don’t leave your cover

You will start the fight hiding behind one of the chairs. Both chairs in the bottom part of the level can be used to avoid the fire from Pinstripe Potoroo’s Tommy gun (you can hide behind them no matter from where he is shooting). What’s important, these covers cannot be destroyed, so you don’t need to rush with attacking the boss.

Dont move from behind the cover until the time is right - Pinstripe Patooey | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Don’t move from behind the cover until the time is right. During the early phase of the duel you should do it after one of the attacks, when Pinstripe will start running from the left side of the level to the right side. The correct time is shown on the picture. When it happens, run from behind the chair and attack the boss with a spin. Hide back behind the cover immediately after that.

Later in the fight Pinstripe Potoroo will stop running across the level, but weakening him will become even simpler - Pinstripe Patooey | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Later in the fight Pinstripe Potoroo will stop running across the level, but weakening him will become even simpler. Wait for moments when his weapon jams. You can notice it by red icons above his head and by the fact that he starts working on his weapon – it is shown on the above picture.

His weapon should jump for the first time in the left part of the office. The next situation should happen on the right side of the screen. This means you should consider switching your hiding spot from the left chair to the right one.

Attack the boss when his weapon jams again - Pinstripe Patooey | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Attack the boss when his weapon jams again

Once the enemy has only a single health point left, he should jump on the central desk. There, after a moment his weapon will jam again. Leave the cover, jump and use Spin attack in the air to hit him and win.

On this page you will find a detailed description how to unlock the gold trophy “Nitrus Broken” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is obtained by defeating the fifth boss in the game – Dr Nitrus Brio.

Jumping on the blob will send a green projectile towards the boss - Nitrus Broken | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jumping on the blob will send a green projectile towards the boss

The green potions thrown by Nitrus Brio make monsters (blobs) appear on the level. Don’t try using Spin attack to defend from them. Instead, jump on them – this will shoot a projectile at the boss (and it will destroy the blob).

At first there will be only one blob appearing on the level. Then there will be two of them and finally even three. When you face more than one monster, it is important to jump between one to another. This will reduce the risk of Crash dying from touching the monster after landing.

As for the purple potions, you must simply avoid them in the air and avoid the areas where they land and explode - Nitrus Broken | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

As for the purple potions, you must simply avoid them in the air and avoid the areas where they land and explode.

The most troublesome part is when Nitrus Brio has only 1 health point left. At that point he will throw six vials. You must be prepared for that. It is best to start in the upper left corner (above picture). Once the boss starts throwing the vials, go to the right, then turn down and keep running clockwise.

Jump on the stone brick and let the boss get close - Nitrus Broken | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump on the stone brick and let the boss get close

If you survived the attack of the six vials, Nitrus Brio will drink a potion and transform into a green giant Hulk-like creature. Stay away from the boss and focus on the small stone bricks that will land in various parts of the arena. Jump on one of them and stay there, waiting for Nitrus to get close.

Jump on the head of the mutated Nitrus - Nitrus Broken | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump on the head of the mutated Nitrus

In order to deal damage to Nitrus Brio you must jump on his head (the jump will be enough – you don’t need to add spin to it). The key to success is jumping when the boss is close enough for you to land on his head, but far enough that he won’t hit you with his giant hands. After a few attempts you should find out the right distance. In order to finally win, attack Nitrus three times.

On this page you will find a detailed description how to unlock the gold trophy “Cortex N. Capacitated” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is obtained by defeating the final boss in the game – Dr Neo Cortex.

Run and jump to the sides to avoid being hit by the purple energy ball - Cortex N. Capacitated | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Run and jump to the sides to avoid being hit by the purple energy ball

The duel with Neo Cortex is played from distance. He will fly around Crash’s platform and he will be using a laser weapon. Similarly as during the fight with Nitrus, different colors of projectiles work differently. You must completely avoid the purple projectiles – run or jump to the sides so that you aren’t hit.

Avoid the slow blue projectiles - Cortex N. Capacitated | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Avoid the slow blue projectiles

The blue projectiles will additionally fly through the platform on which Crash is standing. At first they will fly in straight line, but later their route will be sinusoidal. You must judge where they will fly and properly position Crash to jump over the ball or, even better, move under it.

Further in the fight the energy will gather in a green ball that will explode and weaken the boss after a few bounces - Cortex N. Capacitated | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Further in the fight the energy will gather in a green ball that will explode and weaken the boss after a few bounces

The last category of projectiles is the green ones. They are the most important ones as they can weaken the boss. You must use Spin attack whenever the projectile is close enough to Crash – this will send it back to Cortex. At the beginning even a single projectile will take away one health point of the opponent, but later you will have to send a few bullets to hurt Cortex. If you miss, don’t worry and wait for the next opportunity to strike the green balls.

Run to the right and be ready to quickly turn around and jump left - Cortex N. Capacitated | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Run to the right and be ready to quickly turn around and jump left

The hardest part of the duel will start when Neo Cortex will have only two health points left. He will start shooting series of five purple projectiles. Once it happens, start running to the right from the left edge of the screen and immediately turn back and jump to the left after three projectiles miss Crash. Once you avoided the mass attack, wait for an opportunity to hurt Cortex with a green projectile. You must repeat this strategy at least two times (more if you fail to hit the green energy balls when you have a chance).

Bouncing back the last green ball will end the fight - Cortex N. Capacitated | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Bouncing back the last green ball will end the fight

The last part of the battle is very easy. Once Cortex has only a single health point left, he will start shooting only the green projectiles. Hit one of them with a Spin attack to defeat the boss.

On this page you will find a detailed description of unlocking the Golden trophy called “The Ultimate Gem Path” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is awarded for obtaining all 26 gems.

Its one of the hardest trophies to unlock because it requires you to collect all chests in all 26 levels in the game (the Great Hall level and the boss fights dont have any chests) - The Ultimate Gem Path | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

It’s one of the hardest trophies to unlock because it requires you to collect all chests in all 26 levels in the game (the Great Hall level and the boss fights don’t have any chests). In order to get this trophy, first you should obtain six colored gems. These treasures can be obtained by completing specific levels of the game and destroying all chests in them WITHOUT DYING EVEN ONCE. In most cases it is very challenging as these levels have plenty of traps and enemies that can kill you. You should try completing these levels perfectly only once you become very familiar with them. These levels include:

  1. Lost City – Collecting all chests without losing a single life will unlock the Green Gem.
  2. Generator Room – Collecting all chests without losing a single life will unlock the Orange Gem.
  3. Toxic Waste – Collecting all chests without losing a single life will unlock the Blue Gem.
  4. Slippery Climb – Collecting all chests without losing a single life will unlock the Red Gem.
  5. The Lab – Collecting all chests without losing a single life will unlock the Yellow Gem.
  6. Lights Out – Collecting all chests without losing a single life will unlock the Purple Gem. Important – first you must unlock the yellow gem!

Obtaining the colored gems as first is important since they must be used in some levels. An example from the Jungle Rollers level is presented above. In the spot with the transparent object you must use green crystal that will unlock access to previously unavailable chests.

Once you obtain 6 colored gems, you can focus on obtaining the remaining 20 gems by destroying all chests in them (in these cases you can die as many times as you need). In some levels there won’t be any additional complications, in others you will have to unlock secret paths by using colored crystals. Below is a list of more troublesome levels:

  1. Jungle Rollers – Green gem required.
  2. Great Gate – Yellow gem required.
  3. Upstream – Orange gem required.
  4. Rolling Stones – Blue gem required.
  5. Native Fortress – Red gem required.
  6. Road to Nowhere – Red gem required.
  7. Boulder Dash – Purple gem required.
  8. Cortex Power – Blue gem required.
  9. Lights Out – Yellow gem required.
  10. Jaws of Darkness – Blue gem required.
  11. Castle Machinery – Green gem required.

On this page you will find a detailed walkthrough for unlocking the gold trophy “Practice Makes Perfect!” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is obtained by collecting 26 gold or better relics.

This is probably the hardest trophy in the game - Practice Makes Pefect! | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

This is probably the hardest trophy in the game. The relics are obtained by completing time trials in the main levels (Great Hall and boss fights lack time trials).

You can start a time trial after you beat a level once. When you start a level again, you can touch the clock near the starting position. Time trials require you to perfectly complete the track from the start to the “finish line” without stopping or dying. In addition to that, during the sprint you must look for yellow chests like the one shown on the above picture – destroying them will temporary stop the time counter.

Important – You can ignore the “regular” chests during the race. The same goes for other secrets and enemies – eliminate only the ones that you cannot quickly miss.

After completing each time trial you will receive one of three possible relics - a sapphire one (the worst one), a golden and a platinum one (above picture) - Practice Makes Pefect! | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After completing each time trial you will receive one of three possible relics – a sapphire one (the worst one), a golden and a platinum one (above picture). In order to unlock the trophy you can’t have any sapphire record – you need to have at least gold results.

On this page you will find detailed walkthrough for unlocking the golden trophy “On Cloud 99” in Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4. The trophy is awarded for amassing 99 lives.

1 - On Cloud 99 | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
The current number of lives can be checked by pressing the inventory button (Triangle - picture 1) or by selecting the load and save menu (picture 2) - On Cloud 99 | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The current number of lives can be checked by pressing the inventory button (Triangle – picture 1) or by selecting the load and save menu (picture 2). The new lives can be obtained in two ways:

  1. By collecting Crash tokens from chests with his face painted.
  2. By amassing apples – 100 apples provide 1 additional life.

Below are some pieces of advice that are helpful in obtaining this trophy:

  1. Keep this trophy in mind from the beginning of the game and play in such way so that you will get it as fast as possible. You can’t completely block the possibility to unlock this trophy, but if you, for example, lose all lives, then collecting 99 of them will take much time.
  2. Try to die as rarely as possible in each level (preferably don’t die at all). Before each new level you should manually create a save. If you die too much time in a level, then leave it, load the game and try the level again.
  3. MANDATORILY look for opportunities to start bonus rounds (by collecting tokens with portraits of other characters and using portals). In each bonus round you can collect a few extra lives. What’s more important, dying in a bonus round doesn’t take away your lives. You can repeat the bonuses until you complete them.
  4. If you completed all levels and still you don’t have 99 lives, start repeating early simple levels where it is hard to die.

Warning - If you already got a Green Gem (complete The Lost City level and destroy all chests without dying) then you can easily get a lot of additional lives - On Cloud 99 | Crash Bandicoot Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Warning – If you already got a Green Gem (complete The Lost City level and destroy all chests without dying) then you can easily get a lot of additional lives. Start Castle Machinery level from Cortex Island. The place in which you can place the Gem is right next to the starting point (the picture above). This activates an elevator that goes up and there you can find a lot of additional life tokens.

In this page you can find a detailed description for unlocking a golden trophy called “Cortex’s Crazed Contest” in Crash Bandicoot on PlayStation 4. You get this trophy by finding a key in Sunset Vista level.

Sunset Vista is one of levels available in Wumpa Island (the picture above) - Cortexs Crazed Contest | Crash Bandicoot | Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Sunset Vista is one of levels available in Wumpa Island (the picture above). In order to get his trophy you need to find all 3 Neo Cortex tokens, use a portal that takes you to a bonus round connected with those tokens and complete it by destroying all chests.

The first token can be found shortly after reaching the checkpoint presented in the picture - Cortexs Crazed Contest | Crash Bandicoot | Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The first token can be found shortly after reaching the checkpoint presented in the picture. On the right you can see a jumping lizard that you must eliminate by jumping on it. This unlocks chests in the background (previously you could only see their outline). Move into background, turn left and reach those chests. The token is inside one of them.

The second token can be acquired shortly after reaching the place presented in the picture - Cortexs Crazed Contest | Crash Bandicoot | Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The second token can be acquired shortly after reaching the place presented in the picture. Here, you must avoid stone blocks coming out from the wall but, while you are moving right, you must focus on jumping on two wooden chests. After bouncing off of the second one you can reach a token high in the air. When you do this you must immediately start jumping on the upper parts of the coming out blocks and head right to leave this dangerous place.

The last, third, token can be found after reaching the part of the ruins that has three groups of levitating platforms - Cortexs Crazed Contest | Crash Bandicoot | Trophy Guide - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The last, third, token can be found after reaching the part of the ruins that has three groups of levitating platforms. Jump on a platform from the first group and then on one of the objects from the second group. However, don’t perform new jumps to the right. Instead you must jump into the background in the place presented in the picture. Then, head left and take the third Cortex’s token.

You can now return on the main path and use the nearby portal that takes you to Cortex’s bonus round. This secret level requires you to destroy 23 chests. Many of them are explosive which means that when you find one you must immediately head right because when they explode you lose ground under your feet. You get the trophy after you complete the stage and see the summary. As for the key it unlocks a Whole Hog bonus stage but you don’t have to complete it to get this trophy.

In this page you can find a detailed description for unlocking a golden trophy called “Cortex’s Terrifying Trial” in Crash Bandicoot on PlayStation 4. You get this trophy by finding a key in Jaws of Darkness level.

Jaws of Darkness is one of levels available in Cortex Island (the picture above) - Cortexs Terrifying Trial | Crash Bandicoot | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jaws of Darkness is one of levels available in Cortex Island (the picture above). In order to get this trophy you need to find all 3 Neo Cortex tokens, use a portal that takes you to a bonus round connected with those tokens and complete it by destroying all chests.

The first token is in one of the chests presented in the picture above - Cortexs Terrifying Trial | Crash Bandicoot | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The first token is in one of the chests presented in the picture above. They are located next to the checkpoint.

The second token can be found shortly after reaching the location with spears sticking out which is presented in the picture above - Cortexs Terrifying Trial | Crash Bandicoot | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The second token can be found shortly after reaching the location with spears sticking out which is presented in the picture above. Notice the hole marked in the picture. A snake jumps out of it BUT don’t kill him with the Spin attack. Instead, you must eliminate the snake by jumping on him. It is very important because otherwise a pushed back snake can prematurely detonate a TNT chest that stands on a nearby ledge. Get there and destroy the regular chests first, inside one of them you can find the second Cortex token.

The last, third, token can be found shortly after reaching the pole presented in the picture above - Cortexs Terrifying Trial | Crash Bandicoot | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The last, third, token can be found shortly after reaching the pole presented in the picture above. The apples suspended in the air on the left rightly suggest that there is a hidden path there. Make a few steps to the left and a first platform will appear. Jump to the next apples but be quick because they will start to fall, one after another. You reach a secret location with chests and inside one of them you can find the third Cortex token.

Right next to you there is a portal that takes you to Cortex’s bonus round. This secret level is rather difficult because most of the jumps must be done above a chasm. When you land on a TNT chest you must, at the last minute, jump on another. Repeat this move. Lastly, you must jump on six chests that are close to each other. The trophy is unlocked when you complete this stage and you can see its summary. As for the key it unlocks a Fumbling in the Dark bonus stage but you don’t have to complete it to get this trophy.

The unofficial guide to levels and bosses in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy most of all features descriptions of all levels in Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. In the walkthroughs for all levels there is information about secrets that can be found, ways of completing especially hard sections and locations in which the player must be especially wary of enemies and traps.

A large part of the guide focuses on battles with all bosses available in the trilogy. Each unique opponent has a separate page in the guide where there is information about the circumstances of the duel, boss’ attacks, best ways of defeating him without losing lives and optionally additional rules of the fight.

Below you can find general advice and hints that are helpful while playing all Crash Bandicoot games. Reading them is especially helpful if you intend to play the first entry in the series. This installment is very hard and it doesn’t forgive even the slightest mistakes.

  • In Crash Bandicoot games the protagonist has no health bar – even a single contact with an obstacle or an opponent means instant death and a return to the last checkpoint. The only exception is when you have an Aku Aku mask. After finding three pieces of it you become temporarily immortal or you can receive it if you die many times in a row. In the latter case the mask is lost if you come into contact with a trap or a monster and despite making a mistake you can keep playing. Important – the masks aren’t protecting you from falling into a chasm, in such case you always die.
  • In each game that is a part of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy you are collecting lives by finding them in chests or each time you amass 100 fruits. Try to save them for later as you can lose many of them in late levels. It is especially important in the first game in the series in which late levels are very difficult. Important – avoid using Spin attack twice while destroying chests or you can accidentally throw away fruits or (even worse) additional lives.
  • Many levels require you to learn them very thoroughly, so don’t worry if you frequently encounter unforeseen traps or sudden monsters when playing for the first time. If you don’t wish to lose amassed lives, then save the game manually before each new level. Once you learn it well enough, you can load previous game and complete the level again, this time knowing what to expect.
  • In each level there are a few dozen of chests to destroy. Not always you can reach each object immediately – for example, you might need a colored gem that can be obtained later. Luckily, you can return to each level later and collect all secrets then.
  • During the boss fights you shouldn’t try harming them in regular way, by using the Spin attack. Each unique opponent can be weakened only after filling specific requirements. In a separate part of the guide you will find a chapter featuring walkthrough for all boss fights.
  • In some levels you can play bonus rounds. Look for opportunities to unlock them as in many cases (which differ depending on the chosen game) they enable you to easily gain additional lives (dying in these rounds doesn’t mean losing lives). Additionally, when you use the portal to the bonus round, a new checkpoint is created in the main part of the level. It is very helpful in missions in which checkpoints are rare (for example in Slipper Climb mission in first Crash Bandicoot by default there is only one checkpoint).
  • If you’ve begun a chronological playthrough, take a look at a number of new moves that Crash received with the beginning of Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. All actions are based on pressing the Circle button. You can now order your hero to crouch, perform a slide (if running) or a belly flop (when airborne). These actions are useful when avoiding some of the traps and when destroying invulnerable chests – the individual occurences will be detailed separately in Crash 2 walkthrough).

Below you can find a listing of controls for each title that is a part of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Valuable information – If you have trouble with performing precise jumps and other moves with the left analog stick, try using d-pad. The stick has a very large “dead zone” and some moves might not be correctly recorded when the stick is moved too lightly. Sadly, the precision cannot be changed in the options.

In this chapter we describe first island in Crash Bandicoot – N. Sanity Island:

A look at N. Sanity Island

In this chapter you will find information about levels available on N. Sanity Island in Crash Bandicoot, a game that is a part of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. N. Sanity Island is the first of three islands available in the game. Its first levels are pretty simple, but once you reach Native Fortress, its many traps (that frequently require performing perfect jumps) are making things much more troublesome.

Important – the boss fight levels are described in a separate chapter of this guide. On N. Sanity Island you will fight only one of them – Papu Papu.

Most important information:

  • Number of regular levels: 8
  • Number of boss fights: 1 (Papu Papu)
  • Additional field to visit with Coco’s time machine (interaction with it will unlock Coco as a playable character)

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 49 chests.

Walkthrough:

It’s a rather easy introduction level. You might only have some trouble with destroying all chests since some of these actions are performed above a chasm and even the slightest mistake while aiming the jump might end in Crash dying.

Remember to destroy all encountered chests from the beginning of the level - N. Sanity Beach | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Remember to destroy all encountered chests from the beginning of the level. In case of the chests that look like they are hiding fruits you should jump a few times on them instead of spinning. You should also jump on chests with an arrow that points up. In some chests you will find Aku Aku masks. You can try collecting three such masks – this will make you temporarily invincible. However, since this mission is very easy, the masks won’t be very useful.

In this level you will encounter your first enemies. Luckily, both crabs and turtles aren’t very dangerous and you can defeat them by jumping on them or by spinning.

Further in the level you will encounter a crossroad. First you should go left where you must deal with turtles and break a few chests. Then go back to the crossroad and select the right path. You will reach the chasm shown on the picture. Jumping on the metal chest with an exclamation mark will cause a row of wooden chests to appear above the chasm. If you want to get the clear gem in this level, start jumping on the chests floating over the chasm. The jumps have to be very precise so that Crash won’t die. If you don’t want to take additional risk, you can completely ignore this path and focus only on reaching the portal that ends the level.

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 43 chests. A green gem from the Lost City level is required.
  • Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her painting.

Walkthrough:

This level isn’t very hard, but it requires you to face new types of obstacles and monsters. It’s also the first level in which there is a bonus round. Important – contrary to the previous level, here you won’t be able to destroy all chests at first. To do that, you will have to come back to this level later.

You will find some new attractions from the very start of the level - Jungle Rollers | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You will find some new “attractions” from the very start of the level. One of the first novelties is TNT chests. DON’T USE spin attack on them as this will cause them to explode and kill Crash. Instead of that, take advantage of the fact that jumping on a TNT chest activates a countdown. They will explode after a few seconds since triggering (causing these chests is required for obtaining the clear gem).

Another important thing is new enemies. Skunks and carnivorous plants can be destroyed with spinning attacks. The former will keep reappearing until you move forward. As for the plants, watch out that you don’t get too close to them because they can suddenly attack and eat you (first such death is “awarded” with Feeeed Meeeee! trophy.

While playing this level in some chests you will find tokens with Tawna’s portraits – an example token is shown on the above picture.

Finding and collecting three tokens will enable you to use the portal shown on the above picture - Jungle Rollers | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Finding and collecting three tokens will enable you to use the portal shown on the above picture. This portal will take Crash to an optional bonus round. There you have five chests to destroy (destroying them is required for unlocking the clear gem). You will also obtain an extra life.

Important – If you die during the bonus round, you won’t lose a life. You can keep repeating the bonus rounds until you complete them.

While exploring the main part of the level, notice the transparent object on the ground shown on the above picture (you will get here before you use the portal to bonus round) - Jungle Rollers | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

While exploring the main part of the level, notice the transparent object on the ground shown on the above picture (you will get here before you use the portal to bonus round). It informs you that you need to have a green gem (you will obtain it later, after having a perfect run in Lost City level). Placing the green gem here will unlock the possibility to use an elevator and to reach upper chests with extra lives that aren’t available by any other means.

Further in the level you must also avoid contact with round rock blocks. It isn’t very complicated as you will always have plenty of time for jumping to the other side.

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 38 chests. Yellow gem from The Lab required.
  • Bonus round: Tawna – Collect three tokens with her portrait.

Walkthrough:

This level is more difficult than the previous one as it forces you to face more traps – some of which you will encounter for the first time. For example, here you will meet a local who can easily push you into a chasm if you aren’t careful.

From the beginning of the level you will encounter metal chests that catapult Crash - The Great Gate | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

From the beginning of the level you will encounter metal chests that catapult Crash. Hold the jump button in the air in order to fly higher. Be careful in the place shown above. After destroying the wooden chest the upper one will start bouncing. You must time your jump so that you aren’t crushed.

Slightly further you will encounter the first ape. These creatures are always running between the edges of the platforms and it is best to attack them (by jumping or spinning) when they aren’t moving.

Another novelty is small rotating platforms. After hitting them with a spin attack they stop in a horizontal position for a short time – you must quickly use them to jump higher or you will have to repeat the whole climbing sequence.

Notice the turtle shown on the above picture - The Great Gate | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Notice the turtle shown on the above picture. You will encounter it later in the level. The only way to destroy the chest above the turtle is by bouncing from him. If you accidentally kill the turtle with a spin attack, you won’t be able to reach the chest.

Soon you will encounter stakes with spikes. You must wait for an opportunity to safely move between them.

The locals that appear on this and further levels are very troublesome - The Great Gate | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The locals that appear on this and further levels are very troublesome. If you try getting close to them in usual way, you will be hit with a shield and pushed back. This might cause you to hit a trap or fall into a chasm. You must jump on the locals. After landing on their shield you can use spinning to eliminate the opponent or you can jump again forward and ignore the opponent.

Another problem is slippery ledges (you can slow down by running in the opposite direction) and the places where sometimes you will see flames. On your way to the end of the level you should collect Tawna tokens – soon you will reach a place where you can use them to activate a portal and complete a bonus level. Perfectly completing this round will unlock 3 additional lives.

In the place where the level ends there is a spot in which you can use the yellow gem – it is presented on the above picture. A little reminder: this artifact can be obtained by perfectly completing one of the final levels in the game – The Lab. With the yellow gem you can skip the portal and reach a large secret area where you will find all missing chests. Important – While traveling through the secret locations you must watch out for new traps and enemies. You can easily die there.

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 16 chests.

Walkthrough:

This is one of a few levels in which you must almost always be on the move. In this case during majority of the level Crash will have to be escaping from a giant stone ball while jumping over chasms on his way.

Completing this level isnt as hard as it seems - Crash wont be immediately crushed even if you stop somewhere for a short while - Boulders | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Completing this level isn’t as hard as it seems – Crash won’t be immediately crushed even if you stop somewhere for a short while. Focus mostly on jumping in order to avoid the small fences and chasms while escaping from the rock. In addition to that, stay cautious and use spin attack when you see a wooden chest.

The game will give you a chance to rest in a few small corridors like the one on the above picture. There you can destroy new chests and/or unlock a checkpoint. There are 16 chests to destroy and you can find all of them during your first attempt at completing the level.

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 36 chests. Orange gem from the Generator Room is required.
  • Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her portrait.

Walkthrough:

The main hardship in this level is movement limitation caused by the fact that during most of the time you are surrounded by water. Each jump must be precise and you must time your landing well.

Instead of going forward, first go down the screen - you will find the first of three tokens required for unlocking the bonus level - Upstream | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Instead of going forward, first go down the screen – you will find the first of three tokens required for unlocking the bonus level. Go up the river after getting it. Don’t rush yourself – wait for the right time to jump between the large leaves and plants on the water. Keep in mind that some of the objects will sink into the water a moment after Crash lands on them – stay on them only for a limited amount of time.

One of the new enemy types in piranhas jumping from the water. They can be easily avoided and in some cases you can defeat them by using spinning at right time.

The carnivorous plants are more dangerous. They will be sticking from the water with their “jaws” open (as shown on the above picture). The red plants work like traps that activate when the protagonist touches them – you must quickly jump of them. The purple ones close in regular intervals. Jump on them after they reopen (and quickly jump off).

1 - Upstream | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
In this level you can unlock access to secret areas twice - Upstream | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

In this level you can unlock access to secret areas twice. It can be done in the places shown above (near the place where you climb on the slippery broken tree and near the portal that ends the level). To explore these locations you must have an orange gem – you can unlock it later in the game (it is given to you for perfectly completing Generator Room on Cortex Island). The second secret location is more important as it enables you to walk further up the river. After finding all missing chests you will reach an alternative portal that ends the level.

In addition to that, you should regularly collect Tawna’s tokens as they will enable you to use the portal that takes you to a bonus round. This secret level is a bit harder than the previous ones – some of the wooden chests are floating above the chasm and you must perfectly aim your jumps to the right. The bonus round features 22 chests – two of them are extra lives.

Important – After completing this level you will fight Papu Papu – the battle is described in a separate chapter of the guide. In addition to that, you can visit Coco’s Time Machine and add her as a potential playable character.

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 87 chests. Blue gem from Toxic Waste required.
  • Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her portrait.
  • Bonus round: Nitrus Brio – Collect 3 tokens with his portrait.

Walkthrough:

This level is in many ways similar to the previous one – Jungle Rollers. However, this time avoiding the obstacles will be harder. The level is also slightly longer, although the large number of chests is caused mostly by the fact that the level features two bonus zones.

As the name of the level suggests, one of most common encountered threats in this level are giant rolling stone blocks - Rolling Stones | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

As the name of the level suggests, one of most common encountered threats in this level are giant rolling stone blocks. You must be more careful than in Jungle Rollers mission as frequently there will be two obstacles next to each other. Additionally, near some stones there are additionally holes and small round platforms surrounded by a chasm (an example is shown on the picture).

Another important thing is that for the first time you can collect tokens with Doctor Nitrus Brio’s portraits. Secrets with Tawna’s and Brio’s portraits unlock two separate bonus rounds.

In Tawna’s secret level (it is unlocked quite early) there are 21 chests to destroy. Some of them are above a chasm and in two places you must bounce between two chests with apples placed one under another.

While in the jungle, you must watch out in places with TNT chests - an unwise attack might detonate them too early - Rolling Stones | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

While in the jungle, you must watch out in places with TNT chests – an unwise attack might detonate them too early. Especially the chests on the above picture are dangerous. First you should avoid contact with TNT chests (they are slightly more red). First jump on the regular chests and you will get an extra life and a token with doctor Nitrus portrait.

You will reach Nitrus Brios secret round slightly later - Rolling Stones | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You will reach Nitrus Brio’s secret round slightly later. There you will have to destroy 17 chests. The task will be much harder than in Tawna’s bonus level. First you must quickly jump between the explosive chests while in the same time avoiding the upper metal chests. After finishing the first part of the bonus level you will reach the place shown on the above picture. Here there are three chests – each with an extra life.

The second part of the bonus also features explosive chests. It is best to jump and use spin attack in the air to destroy the regular chest in the middle. Then go back to the left and wait for detonation. Finally jump between the three chests floating above the chasm – you will get three more lives (giving a total of six extra lives!).

Reaching all chests requires having the blue gem unlocked - it is given for a perfect run in Toxic Waste (0 deaths, collecting all chests) - Rolling Stones | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Reaching all chests requires having the blue gem unlocked – it is given for a perfect run in Toxic Waste (0 deaths, collecting all chests). The gem can be used in the place shown on the above picture. It unlocks access to a tunnel with six chests (jump on the blue gen to ride down the tunnel).

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 24 chests.

Walkthrough:

During this whole level you are riding a hog and can’t stop. At first reaching the end might be very troublesome – many obstacles and hostile locals are placed in such positions that it might be hard to avoid them.

//film_do_dodania: Crash Bandicoot PS4 – How to complete the Hog Wild level?

Be ready to repeat this level at least a few times - memorizing the whole track will make it much easier to avoid all obstacles and destroy all chests - Hog Wild | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Be ready to repeat this level at least a few times – memorizing the whole track will make it much easier to avoid all obstacles and destroy all chests. The main obstacles in this level are stakes with spikes, chasms (in order to jump over the one on the above picture you must bounce from the drum – hold the jump button) and natives that will be moving from the left to the right and back to the left.

As for the chests, destroying all of them might be troublesome as well because many of them are placed near each other. In such cases you must perform a perfect slalom and barely touch the chests – otherwise you won’t be able to move the hog towards the next objects.

In the final phase of the ride you will encounter a new type of obstacles - grilled hogs - Hog Wild | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

In the final phase of the ride you will encounter a new type of obstacles – grilled hogs. Jump over the first hog. As for the second one, simply run under it. The third one is shown on the above picture. In this case you must jump, but use it after a slight delay. This will enable you to avoid hitting an obstacle and to avoid having to repeat the level (after this trap all that’s left is to avoid a single local).

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 48 chests. Red gem from Slippery Climb required.
  • Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her portrait.

Walkthrough:

This is definitely the hardest level in the first island and it might easily compete with later levels when it comes to difficulty. The level features plenty of traps which in many cases force you to perform perfectly aimed jumps. Don’t worry if you lose many lives at your first approach, it’s completely understandable. Luckily, the level isn’t very long, making repeating it for better results not so tiring.

The beginning of the level isnt as hard as what comes next - Native Fortress | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The beginning of the level isn’t as hard as what comes next. During the climbing you must only remember to bounce from the turtle that is walking under a destroyable chest. In addition to that, you shouldn’t rush yourself in the area with the rotating platforms. Set to the needed position only the closest rotating platforms. Avoid setting a few of them at once as you might not be fast enough to get to some of them.

One of the first really troublesome parts is the encounter with the native shown on the above picture. Here you should jump while still sliding on the slippery ground. This will enable you to avoid being pushed away by the enemy and to land on his shield instead, from where you can destroy the chest with extra life above it.

Continue your journey while avoiding spikes and flames - Native Fortress | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Continue your journey while avoiding spikes and flames. You will have a tower of chests to destroy (above picture) – notice that the bottom object is TNT. Try getting the two extra lives and then quickly jump to the slippery left platform. There wait for the explosion. Now you can move forward – however, do it only after the monkey on the near platform moves away.

Slightly further you will encounter the third token with Tawna’s painting and you will be able to play bonus level. There are only five chests to destroy in the bonus round, but some of them are above a chasm (and you must catapult yourself to reach one of them).

Complete another long climbing sequence that will take you to a checkpoint - Native Fortress | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Complete another long climbing sequence that will take you to a checkpoint. Now move to the left – the hardest part of the level will start.

Soon after starting the path to the left you will have to bounce from the turtle shown on the picture in order to destroy the chest with fruits. Slightly further there is a native – you must be careful that he don’t push you to a chasm as it will likely mean dying. During the journey don’t forget that you can temporarily slow down on slippery ledges by moving in the opposite direction – this can enable you to wait for the right time to perform a jump.

Important – There exists an alternative path. After bouncing from the turtle in order to destroy the chest with apples you can hold up direction. This will take you to a secret area behind the palisade. By going to the left from there you will skip some of the traps (sadly it won’t take you to the end of the level).

In the place shown on the above picture you can place the red gem - it can be unlocked by performing a perfect run (no dying, all chests destroyed) in Slipper Climb level later in the game - Native Fortress | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

In the place shown on the above picture you can place the red gem – it can be unlocked by performing a perfect run (no dying, all chests destroyed) in Slipper Climb level later in the game. Using the gem will unlock an elevator that will give you access to a completely new area in the clouds where you can find additional chests. Once you find them all, CAREFULLY go back by using the same path.

The hardest part of the level is after you unlock the last checkpoint shown on the above picture - Native Fortress | N. Sanity Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - N. Sanity Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The hardest part of the level is after you unlock the last checkpoint shown on the above picture. There are three small platforms with flames. You must perfectly time jumping between platforms so that you leave before the flame burns Crash.

The last phase is very simple. Complete a short climbing sequence during which you will find three chests with extra lives. The last set of chests can be destroyed by landing on them with a long jump – luckily destroying them isn’t dangerous.

This chapter includes information on stages on Wumpa Island in Crash Bandicoot, which is a part of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Wumpa Island is the second out of three available islands. You may find some of the stages challenging due to wide variety of traps and tricky jumps. Road to Nowhere is a perfect example of such a stage.

Display of Wumpa Island - Wumpa Island Description | Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Display of Wumpa Island

Remember – stages where you encounter bosses were described in a separate chapter. On Wumpa Island you will face Ripper Roo and Koala Kong, and both opponents are tougher than Papu Papu from the first island.

Important information:

Normal stages: 6

Hidden levels: 1 – Whole Hog. You can unlock this level if you get a key during stage Sunset Vista.

Boss fights: 2 (Ripper Roo and Koala Kong)

Secrets:

Clear Gem – destroy 48 crates.

Bonus round: Tawna – collect 3 tokens with her image.

Description:

This stage is very similar to Upstream from the first island, due to the fact that is also requires you move up the river. This time Crash will have to face even more traps and dangerous locations.

Start going up the river and be careful when jumping between floating leaves, as it is easy to miss your jump - Up the Creek | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start going up the river and be careful when jumping between floating leaves, as it is easy to miss your jump. At one point you will have to jump from a floating leaf to a carnivorous plant. Your timing needs to be perfect as the leaf cannot get too far away and the plant can’t eat Crash.

During this stage you need to watch out for two monkeys that will run across stone platforms. They can easily push Crash into water, so wait a moment before you get close to them and defeat your opponents with the Spin.

Explore the level and you will find a metal crate presented in the screenshot. If you jump on it, it will take you the collapsed tree you came across before. Near a small waterfall, some new crates will appear. You can destroy them.

Not far from there, you will find a portal that will take you to a bonus round, and if you collected all Tawnas tokens, you can use it - Up the Creek | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Not far from there, you will find a portal that will take you to a bonus round, and if you collected all Tawna’s tokens, you can use it. This secret location includes 30 wooden crates, and getting rid of all of them won’t be an easy task. You will need to make your way through crates, located above the metal one. It will catapult you and you will be able to jump across crates in the upper part of the screen (see screenshot). The main problem is that Crash will jump beyond the screen, and thus make it harder to land properly. Proceed with the bonus round and you will come across some more crates hanging over an abyss. For getting to the end, you will be rewarded with 2 additional lives.

The portal that will end this stage is located not far from the place where you entrance to the bonus round. All you have to do is to avoid one carnivorous plant.

Remember – after this stage you will face the boss – Ripper Roo. The fight was described in a separate part of the guide.

Secrets:

  1. Green Gem – Destroy all 82 crates and complete the stage without dying once.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her image.
  3. Bonus round: Nitrus Brio – Collect 3 tokens with his image.

Description:

This is the first stage where you can collect a colorful gem that is required to unlock secret parts of other stages. Obtaining it won’t be easy, as various traps and enemies will be waiting for you in the Lost City. Furthermore, most of them you have not faced before.

You will come across the first problem at the very start of the level - you wont be able to reach the crates that easily (see screenshot) - The Lost City | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You will come across the first problem at the very start of the level – you won’t be able to reach the crates that easily (see screenshot). The game won’t let you just jump over the metal crates, and thus you will have to pass them carefully from the abyss side. It is highly possible that you will successfully perform the jump after a couple of attempts but once you get good at it, you shouldn’t have any problems with repeating it.

Go right and watch out for stone blocks that will slide out of the wall and can push you into the abyss. Make sure to get rid of the lizard and search the small room, in which you will come across a crate with three additional lives.

You will come across bats for the first time in another part of the Lost City - The Lost City | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You will come across bats for the first time in another part of the Lost City. Don’t try to attack them as it is highly possible that they will kill you and defeated foes are replaced with new bats. Hide in the lower parts of the screen, and let them fly above Crash (see screenshot). In order to stop them from flying through this part of the area, attack two hanging bats (one on the left side and the other one on the right one. First, you will need to make your way to the second bat).

Search niches that you will come across, as you will find Tawna’s Token in one of them. On the other hand, one of the crates on the main path will contain a token of Nitrus Brio.

Move forward and avoid incoming bats. Watch out for stone blocks and pick the right moment to make your way through them.

Stop for a moment at the checkpoint presented in the picture - The Lost City | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Stop for a moment at the checkpoint presented in the picture. The right part is protected by a jumping lizard, so wait for the right moment to jump on her and bounce from it. This way you will reach the second token of Nitrus Brio, located up in the air (and an additional life). Collect it and quickly jump left, so that you won’t get pushed by stone blocks.

Now Crash will have to jump across small platforms appearing from the ground. Each of them will remain available only for a short time. If you make a mistake, you shouldn’t die but similar traps from other levels will show no mercy.

The portal leading to the bonus stage is connected to Nitrus Brio - The Lost City | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The portal leading to the bonus stage is connected to Nitrus Brio. You will find it once you are done with climbing. Don’t worry, you didn’t miss the last token. Go slightly left and go deeper into the screen (see screenshot and use the upper pad button). Turn right and reach new crates. The token is in one of them. The bonus round is quite difficult. In the first part you will need to destroy one “normal” crate and quickly run away from the explosive ones. There are 21 one crates that you will have to destroy, and 6 of them contain extra lives.

Move left and watch out for jumping lizards and bats. The area with moving blocks will be very dangerous. Stop before them and try to memorize the pattern. Proceed to the next group and repeat the procedure. You will come across another lizard, so bounce from it and reach another crate located up in the air.

Soon, you should reach the portal that will take you to Tawenas bonus round - The Lost City | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Soon, you should reach the portal that will take you to Tawena’s bonus round. Here, you will have to destroy 33 crates, and those that contain apples will cause you more problems, as Crash will bounce between them fast. One should keep in mind that you will destroy them once you touch them exactly 5 times.

Get back to the main part of the Lost City and continue your adventure. Watch out for bridges that will bend under Crash’s weight. Jump on their final parts just for a brief moment. You may only feel safe in the middle of a bridge.

In the final part of the stage draw your attention to the last lizard presented in the screenshot. You need to wait till it jumps left, get close to it, jump on it and quickly bounce from it to reach a metal crate in the sky. This will let you destroy some wooden crates located in the background. Nearby, there a portal that you can use to end this challenging level.

Secrets:

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 67 crates.

Description:

This is the first of several stages located in dark ruins. Getting to its end won’t be easy, as Crash will face various traps and will need to make dangerous jumps. One mistake and you can fall down to your death.

The first trap is located right next to your starting position - spears - Temple Ruins | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The first trap is located right next to your starting position – spears. You will also come across some crates and you will be able to bounce from one of them. Go left and face a huge serpent for the first time. These creatures will jump out of dark holes and you won’t have much time to neutralize them with your Spin attack.

Keep exploring the ruins and make sure that your jumps are perfect. Soon, you will reach a small corridor presented in the screenshot. Watch out for stone blocks on both sides, as they can easily squash Crash. Furthermore, make sure to wait for the bats to pass you by, before moving to the next area. Move on and you will reach a small platform that will take you to another part of the temple.

Go deeper through the ruins and watch yourself in the location with moving poles. They will change their positions, so your jumps need to be perfect. You may stop on the middle pole as it’s a safe spot.

You will need to make your way through another corridor filled with stone blocks coming from the walls - Temple Ruins | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You will need to make your way through another corridor filled with stone blocks coming from the walls. In the next part of the ruins, there is a hidden path. You can recognize it by apples hanged on the left (see screenshot). You can turn left, and make more crates “magically” appear. Run left without stopping, destroy wooden crates and get back to the main path.

Go deeper into the ruins to face some more poles. This time some of them will automatically collapse. You will also face your first spider, and the key to success is to wait for them to lower themselves and use them to bounce. You will get to a platform that will take you to another part of the ruins.

Go up and reach a location with many moving poles. Watch out as some of them can collapse. Not far from here, you will find a crate with three extra lives. Now get to the portal.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem – Destroy 42 crates. Requires a red gem from Slippery Climb.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her image.

Description:

This stage may seem extremely difficult at first as all your jumps need to be perfect (and there are a lot of jumps to perform). Fortunately, you can walk across the ropes – find more details in the next part of this text.

1 - Road to Nowhere | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
The entire level is a mountain path where you will have to cross hanging bridges - Road to Nowhere | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The entire level is a mountain path where you will have to cross hanging bridges. Unfortunately, each bridge is incomplete and jumping between planks in mandatory. Furthermore, certain planks will react in a specific way, once Crash walk on them. Here is how it works:

  1. Planks made out of bright wood are safe.
  2. Planks made out of dark wood will fall shortly after you land on them. Be quick change your position.
  3. Planks made out of dark wood with missing parts in the middle (see picture 1) are extremely dangerous. Land on them and Crash will immediately fall into the abyss.
  4. Blue planks (see picture 2) are slippery. You may slow down (or even stop completely) by steering the analog in the opposite direction.

If you find it difficult to jump between planks or you dont want to lose too many lives, you can try to run across one of the ropes - Road to Nowhere | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

If you find it difficult to jump between planks or you don’t want to lose too many lives, you can try to run across one of the ropes. Similar behavior was presented in the screenshot and one needs to remember that:

  1. Crash will not “stick” to a rope and can fall down if you move too far to the left or right. Of course, you may try to adjust his position. It’s best to keep the rope between his feet.
  2. At certain points, you can decide to jump from one end of a bridge to a rope of another one (without actually landing on one of the planks or a rocky shelf). It’s risky but you should be able to succeed (jump up, not at an angle).
  3. When running across the ropes you don’t have to worry about hostile animals. They won’t be able to reach Crash.

At one point you will reach a wall made of metal crates, two TNT crates and one normal crate - Road to Nowhere | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

At one point you will reach a wall made of metal crates, two TNT crates and one normal crate. Try to jump near the normal crate and destroy only that crate. Move away from TNT crates that will soon explode.

By one of the unlocked checkpoints (see screenshot) you will find one of two places to put a red gem from Slippery Climb. A platform will take Crash right. Perform some basic jumps, move as far to the right as possible and jump to reach the TNT crate located by the first exclamation mark. Move left and touch another exclamation mark. Go right, jump on a wooden crate and use it to reach the metal ones. There is a wooden crate behind one of them, and destroying it will unlock new secret crates (e.g. three extra lives). Once you search the secret area, get back to the bridge.

You will come across hogs running across the bridge - Road to Nowhere | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You will come across hogs running across the bridge. If you are not using the ropes to travel, try to jump over them and don’t fight them with your Spin attack. A little further, you will run into turtles. You can eliminate them or use them to bounce and perform long jumps. Look around for Tawna’s tokens to unlock a bonus round. It will require you destroy 9 crates. This will earn you two extra lives.

In the final part of the stage (see screenshot) there is another place where you can put the red gem. It will take Crash to a place where he will have to jump over invisible (until you touch them) bright planks. They come in pairs, so use this hint to calculate your jumps.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem – Destroy 35 crates. Requires a violet gem from Lights Out.

Description:

A second stage where you have to run from a rolling stone (the previous one was Boulders on the first island). This one will be more difficult but should not cause too many problems.

The idea of this stage is identical to the previous Boulders task, and thus you will need to run from a boulder and avoid obstacles - Boulder Dash | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The idea of this stage is identical to the previous Boulders task, and thus you will need to run from a boulder and avoid obstacles. The only safe spots are narrow corridors where the boulder cannot reach you and various crates can be found. (Remember – one of them is a TNT crate). Mastering your jumps is crucial to escape the boulder. You will often have to press jump in the very last moment and land on moving platforms.

At the very end of the stage you will reach a spot (see screenshot) where the violet gem can be placed – you can obtain it for getting a perfect score in Lights Out. Use the gem to reach a secret underground location. There, you will have to move towards the upper part of the screen. Here you will some crates and an alternative portal to end the level.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem – Destroy 24 crates.

Description:

One of two secret stages in Crash Bandicoot. You won’t be able to begin it right away but fortunately, it won’t take long before it gets unlocked (read more below).

The path leading to this stage was presented in the picture - Whole Hog (hidden level) | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The path leading to this stage was presented in the picture. You won’t be able to use it immediately as this is a hidden level. In order to unlock it, you will need to collect a key from Sunset Vista (description on the next page). This is a part of Cortex’s Crazed Contest achievement. The key is a reward for unlocking and completing the bonus round of Neo Cortex.

The stage is very similar to Hog Wild, and thus you will have to ride the creature (you won’t stop on your way) and avoid obstacles such as poles, pits, barbeque and indigenes. This level is more difficult than Hog Wild due to wider variety of traps and jumps that need to be perfect (most of them will require you to bounce from drums – hold down the jump button when in mid-air). Remember that certain parts will make you run in a zigzag manner, as this is the only way to hit all crates.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem – destroy 90 crates.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – collect 3 tokens with her image.
  3. Bonus round: Neo Cortex – Collect 3 token with his image. Complete this round to collect a key to a secret level – Whole Hog.

Description:

It’s the last “exploratory” stage of Wumpa Island. It’s quite difficult and it make some time before you complete it. Furthermore, you need to look around carefully and destroy all crates that you will come across – there are two bonus rounds and completing one of them (Neo Cortex) will unlock a secret level.

Go right and avoid obstacles that you already know from The Lost City - Sunset Vista | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Go right and avoid obstacles that you already know from The Lost City. Especially watch out for moving bridges (don’t remain too long on the outer side) and blocks coming from the walls (always try to memorize the pattern).

Once again you will face jumping lizards and bats. Be very careful with the lizard presented in the screenshot, as it jumps between small shelves, and a missed attack will cause your death (some bats will appear once you deal with the lizard, so jump carefully between the lower platforms).

Once you get far to the right side, you will have to start climbing - there will be a couple of places like that - Sunset Vista | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Once you get far to the right side, you will have to start climbing – there will be a couple of places like that. It’s a rather difficult activity, as you climb moving platforms, and bowls with flames. Your jumps and timing will have to be perfect.

Once you reach the top, head left. It’s crucial that you search the hole presented in the picture – if you destroy a crate that is located there, you will unlock a well-hidden checkpoint.

You will need to climb some more - Sunset Vista | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You will need to climb some more. Perfect timing is once again essential.

There are 6 tokens to be found. You won’t have any problems with finding Tawna’s tokens. On the other hand, tokens of Neo Cortex won’t be that easily accessible and you can find the first of them after reaching the checkpoint presented in the screenshot. On the right, you will find a jumping lizard, so jump on it to eliminate the creature. This will unlock crates in the background (only their frames were visible previously). Go deeper into the screen, turn left, and reach these crates to collect the desired token.

Getting the second token of Cortex is not that obvious as well - Sunset Vista | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Getting the second token of Cortex is not that obvious as well. Go right towards the place where you found the first token, avoid new obstacles until you reach the place presented in the picture. Try to avoid stone blocks coming from the walls, and while going right, jump on two wooden crates. After bouncing from the second one, you will be able to reach a token high in the air. Once you obtain it, jump across upper parts of the moving blocks and head right to exit this dangerous area.

Move on to the right till you reach an area will levitating groups of platforms - Sunset Vista | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Move on to the right till you reach an area will levitating groups of platforms. Jump on one of the platforms from the first group, and then on one of the objects from the second group. Draw your attention to the fact that you are not supposed to jump right but rather in the direction presented in the screenshot. Go left and collect the third token of Cortex.

You can go back to the main path and use the nearby portal to access cortex’s bonus round. This secret level will require you to destroy 23 crates. Most of them are explosive crates, and thus you will have to move quickly to the right if you don’t want to lose too much ground under your feet. Destroy all the crates to receive a reward – Cortex’s Crazed Contest and a key to a bonuses stage Whole Hog (the level was described on the previous page of the game guide).

Once you get back to the main stage, go right - Sunset Vista | Wumpa Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Wumpa Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Once you get back to the main stage, go right. The path will lead you to another climbing spot, and again a single mistake can end tragically. On your way up, you will come across a portal that will take Crash to Tawna’s bonus stage. You will need to destroy 16 crates, and you need to be extra careful in the spot presented in the above screenshot. Don’t land on one of the TNT crates as you won’t manage to escape on time. Instead, try to bounce between all crates placed on the explosive objects.

Leave the secret location and finish your journey to the very top (you will unlock a checkpoint on the way). Go right and deal with the last remaining lizard. Before you actually use the portal, destroy the crates in the background.

Remember – once you complete this stage, you will face the boss – Koala Kong. Description of the boss fight was included in a separate part of the guide.

Cortex Island view

This chapter contains information on locations, on the Cortex Island, you visit in the Crash Bandicoot, which makes up Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Cortex Island is the last, third, island in the game. To the major extent, it consists of difficult stages in which it is easy to die. Apart from that, many of the missions here are relatively long, which increases the risk of making a mistake on your path towards the portal at the end.

Note – Boss fight stages have been discussed in a separate part of this walkthrough. On Cortex Island, you will have to fight Pinstripe Potoroo, Nitrus Brio and Neo Cortex. The last two fights are difficult and it is nearly inescapable that you will have to replay them several times, before you can get everything right.

Key information:

  • Number of regular stages: 10
  • Number of hidden stages: 1 – Fumbling in the Dark. You can unlock this stage by obtaining the key in Jaws of Darkness.
  • Number of unique stages: 1 – The Great Hall. In this location, you use gems that you have obtained in other stages.
  • Number of boss fights: 3 (Pinstripe Potoroo, Dr. Nitrus Brio, Dr. Neo Cortex)

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – smash 86 crates.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – collect 3 tokens with her image.
  3. Bonus round: Nitrus Brio – collect 3 tokens with his image.

Description:

This stage is quite long and finishing it may be quite a problem, because you will encounter here new types of traps and enemies. Apart from that, it heavily relies on exploration, because you can find there as many as 90 crates and unlock two bonus rounds.

Virtually, from the beginning of this stage, you will have to handle all kinds of robots - Heavy Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Virtually, from the beginning of this stage, you will have to handle all kinds of robots. The “crawling” robots practically pose no threat and toy can eliminate them by jumping onto them, or using the Spin attack. There also are two types of flying robots. Ones with cameras can be simply destroyed, whereas the ones with spikes pose a deadly threat and, although they can be destroyed with Spin attack, it is better to avoid them altogether.

Quickly you will encounter your first trap. Novelty here are red-hot pipes. You cannot touch them or Crash will die instantly (unless he has been protected by the mask) What is interesting, you do not have to worry about blue pipes that are completely harmless.

On your path right, take interest in the chasm shown in the above screenshot, where you will spot two hovering robots with spikes. Here, you can jump down, but make sure that you do not impale yourself on one of the spikes. Down below, there is a secret area, where you find, among others, the first token with Nitrus Brio’s image. After you have collected all of the collectibles, use the elevator to return to the main path.

Continue to the right and remember to keep an eye out for more tokens because, at the beginning of this stage, you can also find a Tawnas token and the second Nitrus Brios token - Heavy Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Continue to the right and remember to keep an eye out for more tokens because, at the beginning of this stage, you can also find a Tawna’s token and the second Nitrus Brio’s token. A bit ahead, you will have to cross several conveyors. If necessary, lean the analog stick in the opposite direction to slow down or go the other way. This is important, because there are hot pipes and flying robots around.

Reach the new moving platform and, after the ride, head left. At first, it is not too difficult and you only have to focus on finding the crate with Tawna’s second token. A bit ahead, you will encounter the first hot pipe, which exhaust hot steam at regular intervals. The pattern here is quite obvious – jump above each of the pipes at the moment, at which they do not exhaust steam.

After you take a ride on the moving platform to the left, obtain Tawna’s last token. Right next to this place, the bonus stage starts (the above screenshot) and during that stage, concentrate mainly on telling the difference between red crates that can be smashed with a single hit, and crates with apples, which require five hits.

In the next section, take care while jumping over red pipes close to each other - Heavy Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

In the next section, take care while jumping over red pipes close to each other. Also, you have constantly to make corrections, because there are conveyors between pipes.

Take the lift to a lower level and go right. In this area, note the crate suspended high above, which can be smashed only if you bounce off the robot. In the next area, there are trampolines, thanks to which you will reach crates that are initially out of sight.

One of the following sections is much more difficult, because you will have to start running over pipes that activate in turns, AND jump over red-hot pipes, while running. Expect more fun in the spot shown in the above screenshot. In this part of the factory, you gave to take rides on the moving platforms. The difficult thing here is that during each ride, you will have to jump over pipes. You should be most careful while approaching the red pipes, which under no circumstances can you touch.

While exploring this part of the factory, stop on the larger ledge to the right, shown in the above screenshot - Heavy Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

While exploring this part of the factory, stop on the larger ledge to the right, shown in the above screenshot. There, you will find the last one of Brio’s tokens, as well as a portal to the bonus round. This one is very challenging and it assumes destroying 30 crates. During the round, start by jumping over the crates that you see, until you reach the one with the exclamation mark. As a result of interacting with this crate, more crates will appear (previously they resembled empty frames). Start jumping over them and you will reach an object with the exclamation mark on the left (you have previously passed it by, but it was unavailable back then). Interacting with the second metal crate will reveal the last set of crates and you will have to start going to the right (unfortunately, for the majority of time, you will not be seeing your character, so it will be much more difficult to land properly).

After you have completed the secret stage, jump onto the moving platform to proceed. You will reach a row of trampolines and try to bounce off each one of them, thanks to which, apart from obtaining some apples, you will also smash several crates with additional lives. The portal that ends this stage is at the very top.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash 42 crates. Requires the blue gem from Toxic Waste stage.

Description:

This is a relatively demanding stage and the most irritating obstacle is that to reach some of the crates, you will have to backtrack to the previous parts of the factory. This increases the probability of making a mistake and the necessity to replay the majority of the mission.

Nearly immediately after you start, you will encounter a completely new type of threat - electrified posts with current flowing between them - Cortex Power | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Nearly immediately after you start, you will encounter a completely new type of threat – electrified posts with current flowing between them. Do not attempt to destroy them and wait for the opportune moments to jump over to the other side safely. It goes without saying that, both here and in all the stages to follow, you also have to avoid contact with green toxic waste.

Soon, you will reach the first fork shown in the above screenshot. First, go left. While following the path you will encounter a gunman for the first time. Hide quickly behind one of the covers and approach the opponent while he is reloading his weapon. Spin attack will let you eliminate him.

A bit further (and at the right moment),hop over a cluster of hot pipes - Cortex Power | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

A bit further (and at the right moment),hop over a cluster of hot pipes. Soon, you will reach another fork shown in the above screenshot. You cannot explore the left path for now, because it requires you to have the blue gem. Just to remind you, you obtain this item for completing the Toxic Waste perfectly. After you obtain the gem, a moving platform will activate here. Jump onto it, avoid all the traps on this path and smash the crates. After you have cleared the path, return to the second fork along the same path.

The right path of the second fork is readily available. Nearly immediately, will you have to avoid two flying robots with spikes. A bit ahead, you will find only one crate.

Return to the first fork now, i - Cortex Power | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Return to the first fork now, i.e. the one that you have reached at the beginning of this stage. Since you have already explored the left leg, pick the right one. Take a long jump over the vat with toxic waste. Activate the checkpoint and reach yet another fork, exclusive to this path. It has been shown in the above screenshot.

It is a good idea to start with the right leg here, because this is a dead end. Take the stairs, of some sort, and reach the location, where there is yet another gunman. Just like earlier, wait for the opportune moment to leave your cover and eliminate him. After you have killed him, hit the metal crate with the exclamation mark (you will learn about the results of this action later) and additionally, destroy carefully the crates surrounded with TNT.

Return to the fork and take the left leg. Walk around the two flying robots and reach the location that you have already visited, where two path converge into one.

You should now be in the location shown in the above screenshot - Cortex Power | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You should now be in the location shown in the above screenshot. There is one more path to explore which goes up, in a straight line. Jump onto the first platform surrounded by toxic waste to checkpoint. Take the ride on the moving platform and, at the right moment, jump towards the stationary one.

In the next section, pay attention to discharges, although it is not too difficult to avoid them. What’s more problematic is jumping over the hot pipes.

Soon, you will pass by the area where the paths come together again, i - Cortex Power | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Soon, you will pass by the area where the paths come together again, i.e. the one that you are currently following and the one that requires a blue gem.

Head towards the upper edge of the screen. In the spot shown in the above screenshot, there should be a bridge of wooden crates that you can jump over. If, instead of some of the crates, there are only empty frames, this means that you haven’t hit the metal crate in the other path (where there used to be the gunman). Enter the final chamber, smash the rest of the crates and take the portal.

Collectibles:

  1. Orange Gem – Smash all 52 crates and complete the chapter without dying.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her image.

Description:

Thanks to completing the stage without dying, you will reeive am orange gem, which you need to enter secret locations on several other stages. Unfortunately, this is not easybecause you will be covering areas over chams for the whole time, just like in Temple Ruins of the previous isle. Even the slightest mistake can make you die.

1 - Generator Room | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Start by smashing the crates in the starting location, but watch out the TNT crate (the countdown starts after the metal crate drops onto it) - Generator Room | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start by smashing the crates in the starting location, but watch out the TNT crate (the countdown starts after the metal crate drops onto it). Jump from one small platform onto the other, above the chasm. In mid air, it is a good idea to use Spin attack to remove the robots orbiting around the ledges. A bit ahead, destroy the regular crate, carefully and quickly move away from the TNT crate.

Head right and stop after you reach the metal crate with the exclamation mark shown in screenshot 1. Hit it and only after that, go right (there is Tawna’s first token around).

Stop after you have reached the location shown in screenshot 2. Here, you can go right and reach a big platform with several crates on it. Quickly, shmas all of them, because the platform will soon drop down. As you go back, remember to smash the ooden crates (you have to jump onto each one of them).

Start jumping towards the small platforms (some of them will soon drop down to the chasm, so dont stop) and obtain Tawnas second token - Generator Room | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start jumping towards the small platforms (some of them will soon drop down to the chasm, so don’t stop) and obtain Tawna’s second token. Soon, you will reach an area with small platforms going up and down. Take jump onto each platform while it is in the peak position.

After that, you will reach a crate with Tawna’t last token and a portal to the bonus round (shown in the above screenshot). In this round, there are only 8 crates to smash, but you will have to jump over the chasm, so you will have to guide Crash in mid-air.

After you return into the factory, go right and start jumping over the movind platforms. Additionally, you have to watch out here for the flying robots with spikes. You can try to delay some of the jumps, or try to eliminate robits with Spin attack (risky). Apart from that, watch out for the neighboring, unstable platform that will soon drop down.

Take several new platforms traveling into further parts of the factory and start jumping over the ledges going up and down, thanks to which you will reach a checkpoint - Generator Room | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Take several new platforms traveling into further parts of the factory and start jumping over the ledges going up and down, thanks to which you will reach a checkpoint. Smash the wall of wooden crates and head on, while minding the two flying robots with spikes.

Jump onto the platforms (they drop quickly) and destroy, carefully, the wooden crate with two TNT crates on both sides (activate Spin attack in mid-air, after you have already jumped). There is yet another difficult action, after you reach the moving platform shown in the above screenshot. During this and the next ride, you will have to jump over obstacles, where a hot pipe is one of them, which makes things even more difficult. Fortunately, this is nearly the end, because you find the portal soon after you reach a stable platform with extra lives.

Collectibles:

  1. Blue Gem – Smash all 39 crates and complete the stage without dying.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her image.

Description:

What makes this stage different is that you can obtain a blue gem here and it is a bit easier to obtain it than the rest of the gems. This generally results from the fact that the stage is short. The most dangerous threat are the barrels that will make you feel as if you were playing Donkey Kong.

You encounter the first opponent right after the stage starts - Toxic Waste | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You encounter the first opponent right after the stage starts. Opponents toss barrels at you and, initially, they only roll over the ground. You an avoid them either by jumping over them, or hiding to the sides of the path. It is especially recommended to use the other one here, because you can smash several crates thanks to this. When it comes to the opponent himself, head towards him and jump over the barrels. After you get within a short distance of him (shown in the above screenshot) Spin-attack him to eliminate him.

Rozpocznij podrz kanalami. Pilnuj sie w trakcie wspinania sie po rampach, bo latwo wtedy przegapic kolejne beczki. Dodatkowo pamietaj o niszczeniu wszystkich napotykanych crates, zwlaszcza ze w niektrych z nich ukryto tokens z podobizna Tawny.

Continue your exploration and eliminate barrel-tossing opponents - Toxic Waste | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Continue your exploration and eliminate barrel-tossing opponents. After you reach the ledge with the first TNT crate, you will have to deal with barrels bouncing off the ground, which are more difficult to handle. After you spot such a barrel, stop and try to guess where the barrel touches to the ground. This will help you dash under it.

In one of the tunnels ahead, you will spot a tower on the right, built of several types of crates. Smesh the two crates in the middle and get away from here quickly. A bit ahead, you will find the third token and the portal to the bonus round (shown in the above screenshot). In the secret location, you gave to smash 13 crates. This one is easy to complte, but you have to remember to escape from the TNT crates as quickly as possible, because one explosion causes a chain reaction.

After you return from the bonus stage, continue avoiding the barrels and be careful while climbing up the ramp, because it makes it more difficult to assess where the barrel touches the ground. Eliminate the last opponent and enter the portal into the next stage.

Note – After you have completed this stage, you will have to fight against boss Pinstripe Potoroo. The fight has been described in a separate part of this walkthrough.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash 45 crates.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her image.

Description:

The High Road is another take on stage Road to Nowhere on the second isle. It is just as frustrating, because it requires you to travel over severely damaged drawbridges, where each wrong step equals death. The oly upside is that you can make it easier for yourself, by traveling over ropes, just like earlier.

After the stage begins, go down - The High Road | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After the stage begins, go down. Here, you can jump over onto the invisible wooden planks (the will appear in twos) or make it over the ropes (shown in the above screenshot) to reach the ledge with several crates that you can smash. After that, follow the same path back to the starting point and head towards the finishing line.

You will encounter problems nearly immediately, because you will have to deal with dark-brown planks falling off, which you should treat as if they weren’t there, as well as blue ones that Crash can slide over. Once again, it should be noted that you can walk over ropes and avoid taking risky jumps, thanks to this.

On this stage, you also encounter hogs and just like in Road to Nowhere, you aren’t supposed to attack them. Instead, walk around them over ropes, or jump over them after they come close.

After you reach the wall consisting mainly of metal crates, smash the obly wooden one and jump through the small opening at the right moment - The High Road | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you reach the wall consisting mainly of metal crates, smash the obly wooden one and jump through the small opening at the right moment. On the next bridge, you will encounter tutles for the first time. If you do not want to use the ropes, you will have to bounce off the majority of the turtles, because this is the only way to take long jumps over larger chasms.

Note – If possible, it is best to test-jump onto one of the turtles, thanks to which it will roll onto its back, defensless. After this happens, you will be able to bounce off it as many rimes as you want.

After you reach the next checkpoint, you will find the first token with Tawna’s image. As you proceed, note the turtle circled in the above screenshot. It walks over cracked planks, but you can jump onto it and bounce off, because the planks will bear additional weight.

Continue along the path and find Tawnas second token, by th next checkpoint - The High Road | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Continue along the path and find Tawna’s second token, by th next checkpoint. Soon after you get there, you will find several turtles on their backs, where you will have to either walk over the ropes, or take perfect jumps between them, because the row is intermittent with chasms.

Soon, you will reach the crate with the last token. Next to the crate, there is the portal to Tawna’s bonus stage. The most difficult part of that stage has been shown in the above screenshot. First, you have to jump over crates above, but land on every second one. After you have reached the end, turn back and jump onto the crates above that you have been leaving out earlier. Finally, jump over the lower crates that you have been ignoring so far (ones with question marks). For completing the round, you will receive 2 extra lives.

The final part of this stage has toy take long jumps again, towards the turtles on their backs, or cross over the ropes. Also, watch out for the slippery blue planks at the very end.

Collectibles:

  1. Red Gem – Smash all 51 crates and complete the stage without dying.
  2. Bonus round: Nitrus Brio – Collect 3 tokens with his image.

Description:

Arguably, this is the most difficult stage in the game. This results from several factors. First, there is only one “regular” checkpoint here, as well as an extra one that you receive for unlocking the bonus round. Secondly, in the castle, there are many traps and spots where you have to take perfect series of jumps. Thirdly, if you want to obtain the red gem, you have to collect all the collectibles in this stage and not die even once. This is a demanding thing to do – you will have remember the order of traps and take all the steps perfectly.

Smash the crates in the starting point and go left - Slippery Climb | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Smash the crates in the starting point and go left. The high difficulty level of this stage will manifest itself from the very beginning, because you will have to jump onto the platforms moving horizontally at the right moments. Take the jumps only when the platform that you are currently on is in its leftmost point. After you jump onto the second platform, look into the recess that you pass by, because there are two crates in it (including one with extra life). This has been shown in the above screenshot and later into the stage, you will be running into more such spots.

After you land on the stable ledge, watch out for the prisoner waving his hand between the bars. Fortunately, it is easy to eliminate such opponents, because you simply have to Spin-attack them. In the next part, you will have to jump over ledges of walls that slide out alternatingly.

Jump onto one of the platforms propelled by the rotary mechanism - Slippery Climb | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump onto one of the platforms propelled by the rotary mechanism. Here, you will encounter a new type of obstacle, which you will also be encountering later in this stage. You have to jump off the platform when its elevation is big enough (shown in the above screenshot) and bounce off the big bird (do not try to stop while on its back!). Soon after the jump, wait for the opportune moment to jump ito a new recess with crates. Jump onto another bird and collect the first token with the image of Nitrus Brio from the recess. Get around the sliding ledges and prison cells. On the left, there are two birds flying. You have to jump onto the first one, BUT when it is high enough, because this is the only way to jump onto the other bird and onto the ledge (destroy the crates here).

You end up in the location, where there is yet another demanding path to follow - Slippery Climb | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You end up in the location, where there is yet another demanding path to follow. Stop for a moment and take a look at the mechanism of unfolding stairs. You will have very little time to get over them, so climb up right after you jump onto them and jump onto the platform. It will start to travel up.

On the next floor, there is another unfolding staircase and again, you will have to wait for the right moment to jump onto it. Make it over higher up and destroy the crates there.

Get ready for demanding jumping. You have to jump onto the platform, then onto the big bird and then, bounce off it to land on the moving ledge shown in shown in the above screenshot nowej ruchomej plce.

Continue up, jump onto the ledge at the right moment and QUICKLY run up the stairs - Slippery Climb | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Continue up, jump onto the ledge at the right moment and QUICKLY run up the stairs. Here, you will have to jump between sliding ledges and this this is where you have to time everything perfectly. None of the jumps can be delayed, or else the platform will slide back. Fortunately enough, up ahead there is your much desired checkpoint (shown in the above screenshot).

Above the checkpoint, there are some more ledges moving and, after you land on each one of them, wait for a moment to familiarize yourself with the path and time your next jump well.

Take a ride up on the lift and watch out on the stairs, because only a half of it is completely safe. On the right, there is a scientist tossing vials. Fortunately, they are easy to avoid, and you can eliminate him with your standard attack.

Stop for a longer while in the spot where the opponent used to stand and take a look at the situation on the right - Slippery Climb | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Stop for a longer while in the spot where the opponent used to stand and take a look at the situation on the right. Your task now is to jump onto the unfolded stairs at the right moment and to QUICKLY jump over onto one of the moving platforms. Keep going right and jump onto the large birds and moving ledges in turn.

On your path, explore the recess shown in the above screenshot, because there is Nitrus’ second token. Go right and watch out especially for the prisoner in a single cell – you cannot use Spin attack too late here.

Jump over the birds and reach the portal to the bonus round (the last Nitrus token is right next to it) - Slippery Climb | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump over the birds and reach the portal to the bonus round (the last Nitrus token is right next to it). This stage is difficult. At the beginning, you have to activate TNT crates skillfully and get away from them quickly. The most difficult fragment has been shown in the above screenshot. Here, jump onto the TNT crates up above and, after countdown starts, return onto the metal crate on the left (the one with the arrow). This way, you will lose two extra lives, but it is safer than reaching the exclamation mark directly.

Wait for the explosions before you catapult yourself to the right. Land on the metal crate with the exclamation mark and only after that, start jumping over the crates to the right. Finally, take a long jump towards the last platform.

After you return to the castle, start jumping over the moving platforms and big birds. Along uyour path, there also is the last recess with crates (one with an extra life among them). A bit ahead, you will have to perform a triple jump onto three big birds. After you reach a stable platform, eliminate the second scientist and then destroy ther last wooden crates around. You cannow use the portal.

Collectibles:

  1. Purple Gem – Smash all 15 crates and complete the stage without dying. Requires the yellow gem from The Lab.

Description:

In many respects, this is an unique stage. Its main characteristic is that it takes place in dark corridors that you have to light up, if you do not want to grope your way. Apart from that, the level allows you to obtain purple gem, but you first have to obtain the yellow one, because this is the only way in which to reach the three missing crates.

Start by smashing the nearest crate with Aku Aku mask - Lights Out | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start by smashing the nearest crate with Aku Aku mask. Each time you do that, the mask you collect will light up the area around you (shown in the above screenshot) and make reaching your destination easier. Unfortunately, masks run out of juice after a while. Although theoretically, it is also possible to travel in complete darkness there are many deadly traps around, which makes it impractical.

You will be finding more masks at regular intervals and all of them are on the main path. In general, while completing this stage, it is best not to stop anywhere for longer, thanks to which you can be sure that the masi will not go defunct too soon.

Note – the mask stops lighting the area after you run into an opponent, or after you sprong a trap. This should serve as an additional motivation to end this stage flawlessly.

Follow the main corridor, where there are many jumps to take - Lights Out | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Follow the main corridor, where there are many jumps to take. Fortunately, the majority of them are quite easy and only after you pass by the first checkpoint, will you start running into moving platforms which will have you take a jump only when it does not mean instand death.

After you get past one of the checkpoints, you will encounter oversized rats for the first time. They are very easy to eliminate, because you can do that with Spin attack. However, do not let them hit you and do not stop while attacking them (especially that new ones can appear in the place of the killed ones).

Another point that makes things difficult are traps similar to the one shown in the above screenshot. They are easy to avoid, but remember that you shouldn’t stop here unnecessarily.

It has already been mentioned at the very beginning that to destroy all crates, you will require yellow gem awarded for perfect completion of the later stage The Lab - Lights Out | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

It has already been mentioned at the very beginning that to destroy all crates, you will require yellow gem awarded for perfect completion of the later stage The Lab. If you already have the gem, you can use it in the spot shown in the above screenshot. This will take you to the top of the tower and, apart from crates, there also is an alternative portal ending the stage there you could have already found the remaining 12 crates earlier).

While completing the stage, for the first time, you cannot use the gem, so continue along the main corridors. Along your path, you will encounter no more traps, although you should watch out in the spot where you are to jump between two blades, because the ledge that you land on is unstable and it drops down after a while. The same goes for the next two platforms that separate you from the stage ending.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash 18 crates.

Description:

This is one of the two secret stages in Crash Bandicoot (the previous one is Whole Hog on the second isle). You cannot start it right after you reach its starting point on Cortex Island. Fortunately, you do not have to wait for too long before it is unlocked (see below for a detailed description of how to unlock it).

You can reach the starting point of this stage along he path shown in the above screenshot - Fumbling in the Dark (secret stage) | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You can reach the starting point of this stage along he path shown in the above screenshot. By default, you cannot use it, because the level is hidden. To unlock it, you gave to obtain the key in the Jaws of Darkness stage described below (it makes a part of the Cortex’s Terrifying Trial achievement). You receive the key after you unlock and complete the Neo Cortex’s bonus round.

The premise of this stage is identical with the one of the Lights Out stage described earlier, so you have follow the dark corridors and use Aku Aku masks to light up darkness temporarily. It should be noted that in many situations you will have to haste even more, because the masks may go out long before you reach another one.

After you start the stage, explore the bottom part of the screen. You can land there on the safe ledges placed on the sides. There are several crates that you can find in this part of the corridor. An innovation in the later part of the stage are spiders that you have already encountered on the second island. At first, it is best to eliminate them with Spin attack but later on, it is much better to take long jumps over the spiders, which will speed up your progression and decrease the risk of fumbling in complete darkness.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash 112 crates. Requires the blue gem from Toxic Waste.
  2. Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her image.
  3. Bonus round: Neo Cortex – Collect 3 tokens with his image. Completing this stage is rewarded with the key to the secret stage in Fumbling in the Dark.

Description:

It is not easy to complete this stage, because it requires you to fid 100 crates and, additionally, many of them are to be destroyed during bonus rounds. In the first place, you should make sure that you unlock Neo Cortex’s secret round, because it will allow you to obtain the key to the secret stage in Fumbling in the Dark.

You should be familiar with attractions served in this stage, because you have already been to dark ruins earlier in the game - Jaws of Darkness | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You should be familiar with attractions served in this stage, because you have already been to dark ruins earlier in the game. While completing this stage, you will be required to take correct jumps, because there will be chasms around you nearly at all times. Apart from that, remember to avoid snakes springing out of the holes, bats flying through narrow tunnels, spiders (you can bounce off some of them), sticking out spears, flames, collapsing and moving platfrms, s well as stone blocks that can crush you.

After the start of the mission, go right nd keep all of the abovementioned traps in mind. Also, watch out after you reach the location with small platforms revolving around a stationary central one. Pillars will crumble after you reach specific spots and you cannot be in any of them at that moment. A bit ahead, there is a tunnel with stone blocks that slide out of walls. Jump over the blocks (there are three) and only when there are no bats flying through.

The two moving platforms will take you to a new part of the ruins. Here, head towards the bottom part of the screen, up until you reach crates next to the checkpoint, shown in the above screenshot. In one of the crates, there is Neo Cortex’s first token.

Go left and remember to bounce off the spider to jump over thechasm - Jaws of Darkness | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Go left and remember to bounce off the spider to jump over thechasm. On the small ledge to the left, there is a crate and that is where Tawna’s first token is.

Head towards the upper part of the screen and reach the area with multiple moving pillars shown in the above screenshot. Spend some time on remembering their pattern. Then, start jumping over them carefully and watch out, because it is darker here and it is more difficult to determine the right place to land. Your destination is the big ledge on the left shown in the above screenshot.

Go left - Jaws of Darkness | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Go left. Soon after you deal with the snake, you will reach the location shown in the above screenshot, where you can use blue gem. Just to remind you, you can obtain the gem by completing Toxic Waste, without dying and by smashing all of the crates there. Take a ride on the platform to the lower ledge, where there is a large cluster of crates to destroy (note – you destoy one of thm after you jump onto the metal crates and activate Spin in mid-air).

This is not it, however, because you can still jump onto the nearby platforms that you activate with the blue gem. There are many of them and, along your path, you will be able to smash additional wooden crates (note – in the case of the TNT crate, jump towards the wooden crate above with extra life, before the explosion takes place!). Thanks to the last platform, you will return to the main path.

To continue across the main part of ruins, you have to head towards the upper part of the screen and cross another tunnel with stone blocks attempting to crush you (it is a good idea to time well the moments to dash between them - Jaws of Darkness | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

To continue across the main part of ruins, you have to head towards the upper part of the screen and cross another tunnel with stone blocks attempting to crush you (it is a good idea to time well the moments to dash between them!)

Along your path, pay special attention to the hole marked in the above screenshot, which you reach after you have avoided a series of traps with spears. As you can expect, a snake will spring out of the hole, BUT do not kill it with Spin attack and jump onto it instead, to eliminate it. This is immensely important, because otherwise, the sake would detonate the TNT crate on the ledge prematurely. Reach there and first destroy the regular crates, where there is Neo Cortex’s second token in one of them.

Jump onto ledges and platforms on the left - Jaws of Darkness | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump onto ledges and platforms on the left. Stop in the spot shown in the above screenshot. The apples hanging above the chasm suggest that there is a hidden path here. Take several steps to the left and the first platform will appear. Take jumps towards the rest of them, but hurry up because they will collapse one after the other. You will reach a secret location with crates, where there is Neo Cortex’s third token.

Right next to this place, there is a portal to Cortex’s bonus round. This one is quite difficult, where the majority of jumps that you take are taken above chasms. After you land on the TNT crate, jump onto the neighboring one, at the last moment. In the meantime, the explosion will activate the metal crate and a safe passage will be revealed. Do the same thing in the next location. Finally, start jumping over the six crates close to each other. For your endeavors, you will be rewarded Cortex’s Horrifying Trial trophy (it will be unlocked on the stage summary screen) and a key that you need to start the secret stage of Fumbling in the Dark (which has been described on the previous page).

After you return to the main part of the ruins, head up and go right - Jaws of Darkness | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you return to the main part of the ruins, head up and go right. The new platforms will be appearing in front of you and they will lead you to a stable ledge with some crates. Inside one of them, there is Tawna’s second token.

Head up. After you avoid several easy obstacles, you will reach the portal to Tawna’s bonus stage. The last, third token is in the nearby crate. This is quite easy a round. After you reach each crate stack (example in the above screenshot), smash one of the crates above the TNT crate. After countdown starts, go left as far as you can to avoid taking damage from the explosion.

After you return to the main stage, follow the tunnel with stone blocks. Take your time here, because you have to avoid a block group of three, by starting to run at the right moment. Reaching the portal will end this quite exhausting stage.

Secrets

  • Clear Gem – Destroy 27 chests.

Warning – The Green Gem from the Lost City level is used here, although it won’t take you to any area with chests. It is only used to reach a secret loation with many additional lifes.

Walkthrough:

This level is very similar to the previous one, Heavy Machinery, because Crash needs to avoid hot pipes, robots and other traps. Even though the number of destroyed chests required for getting a perfect run is small it is not that easy to get because you need to be very precise in many places and react quickly to the events appearing on the screen.

Right after starting this level you stand next to a place, presented in the picture, where you can place a Green Gem - Castle Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Right after starting this level you stand next to a place, presented in the picture, where you can place a Green Gem. Just to remind you, this item is acquired by completing the previous The Lost City level but in order to get it you must destroy all chests and don’t allow Crash to die. After using an elevator you reach a place with a HUGE amount of additional lives to collect. Warning – Don’t use the right platform because you will end the level prematurely. Go back to the left elevator and return to the starting point.

Regardless of whether you used a Gem or not you can now jump into abyss on the right from the starting point. You won’t kill Crash but instead you land on the lower level.

When you reach the lower part of the castle you must head left and eliminate familiar crawling and flying robots - Castle Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

When you reach the lower part of the castle you must head left and eliminate familiar crawling and flying robots. However, you should focus more in a place with robots with spikes, the best way to deal with them is to avoid them carefully.

Go on the first platform that goes up BUT be prepared to quickly move to the next one because the one which you are currently standing on gets dangerously close to hot pipes. This process should be repeated with the next moving platform (the picture above). Lastly, jump right and continue your exploration.

Soon, you will start to travel on conveyor belts. Jump above the red pipe and when you reach the end of the belt you can jump down to the lower one. Continue jumping down. When you are at the botttom you must avoid two last pipes and reach a checkpoint.

After reaching the small platform you start a new ride to the upper part of the screen during which you must, again, move from one moving platform to another before they get closer to hot pipes - Castle Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After reaching the small platform you start a new ride to the upper part of the screen during which you must, again, move from one moving platform to another before they get closer to hot pipes. The game makes things more difficult here because in the last two places you must jump to adjacent platforms instead of just walking on them in the right moment. You must also be careful in the place presented in the picture above. Here, you must be ready to press down on the d-pad or move your analog stick down. This allows Crash to get on the platform in the forefront.

When you are in the new area you must go left and focus on avoiding holes, from which a hot gas comes out, perfectly. Just like before it is worth to stop sometimes and try to remember the order in which the gas is coming out. After that you must run on collapsing ledges without stopping. Again, you must jump to the left hole because you don’t risk losing life. You land next to a new checkpoint.

Jump above the first red pipe - Castle Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump above the first red pipe. In order to avoid the next ones you must land on a robot that walks on them and bounce off of him. Use the first trampoline and reach apples. Then, use the second one to get to an area with a few apple chests, you can bounce off of them. After destroying the chests you must jump into the hole located between blue chests.

Go left and you must avoid the new trampoline because it can eject your character into the upper red pipes. More trampolines can be found on the right. Pick up the apples when you are flying and reach the upper right ledge. Follow the linear path to the checkpoint.

Jump on a conveyor belt start to avoid hot pipes again. Just like in the previous situation, here, you must also jump down to the lower belts. Avoid the robot with spikes. Soon, you will reach the area presented in the picture above. Destroying all chests in this place can be problematic because they are all above a chasm. The best way is to start destroying the chests from the upper level first (leave some of them so you can go left later) and after them you can focus on the lower chests with (four) additional lives.

When you are on a new conveyor belt you must go right and jump on a platform that will take you to the higher level - Castle Machinery | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

When you are on a new conveyor belt you must go right and jump on a platform that will take you to the higher level. Be prepared to move on a small and stable platform and then you must use another elevator. While you are going up you must keep using the Spin attack because this allows you to get rid of incoming robots.

Head left and get closer to a new area with hot gas. Here, you can find seven holes in total which means that the risk of making a mistake is very high. Observe the order in which the holes open and only then you can quickly jump from one to another.

Soon, you reach the platform presented in the picture above. Here, another difficult section awaits you. The platform starts moving and your task is to jump above the red pipes. Don’t jump too early because the platform may not go below a pipe and you will fall into abyss. The same must be done with the second moving platform although here you must also bounce off of a robot. The portal that ends this level is on the left.

Warning After completing this stage you must face a boss, Dr. Nitrus Brio. The description of this fight can be found in a separate chapter of this guide.

Secrets:

  • Yellow Gem – Destroy all 36 chests and finish the level without dying.
  • Bonus round: Tawna – Collect 3 tokens with her likeness.

Walkthrough:

This is the last stage of those that are based on exploring area and avoiding traps. Sadly, completing it and getting the Yellow Gem isn’t easy because many of the traps that are here require a perfect timing of your actions that are done one after another. Especially the moment with the sliding floor that can finish you off suddenly.

Start by hitting the metal chest - The Lab | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start by hitting the metal chest. Interacting with chests with exclamation marks is necessary in this stage because this allows you to unlock passages and neutralize traps (the missing parts of floors). You must know that you have a limited amount of time to cross a path and the mechanisms from the exclamation mark chests will go back to their initial state.

A token with Tawna likeness can be found in the first wooden chest. Also, from now on you must avoid electric discharges but you are already familiar with this type of traps. Continue your journey and find Tawna’s second token. You must be careful in the place presented in the picture because after hitting the exclamation mark chest you must wait a moment until you can avoid electrical discharges. The same must be done in a few other places that are later in this level.

In one of the next areas you can encounter jumping blobs for the first time. You can eliminate them by jumping on them or by using the Spin attack. You can also try to avoid them. Remember that you shouldn’t stay in one place for too long because new monsters will respawn in the places of the avoided or eliminated ones. Soon, you reach a room with a lot of chests. You must be careful here because one of them is a TNT chest. Try to not detonate it accidentally and when a countdown starts you must move away from the chest.

After a few moments you reach a chest with Tawnas third token and a portal that teleports Crash to a bonus round - The Lab | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After a few moments you reach a chest with Tawna’s third token and a portal that teleports Crash to a bonus round. During this round you must destroy 12 chests but doing it is very complicated. Notice the section with two chests with arrows facing up. You must bounce off of the lower chest (marked by the number 1 in the picture above), when you are in the air you must avoid the upper chest (marked by the number 2 in the picture) and then bounce off of it to fly even higher (out of the screen). Destroy two invisible chests and only after that you can go to the place where you can end this bonus round (when you are on your way you can destroy the chests above the chasm – those with apples requires you to land five times on them).

In one of the next rooms you come across a scientist that uses gloves that can electrocute Crash. Confronting him is not worth it (the Spin attack can push this character back). Instead, you should use the fact that the scientist is slow so you can get past him by jumping.

The following rooms contain easy to dodge traps so you shouldnt have any problems - The Lab | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The following rooms contain easy to dodge traps so you shouldn’t have any problems. Continue walking until you reach a room with a scientist that throws phials. Eliminate him and activate new checkpoint.

In the new room you can find a lot of explosive chests and in addition to that you must watch out for sliding floor that can be avoided by running close to one of the walls. Jump on one of the chests to start a countdown and then return to the place close to the wall, marked on the picture, and wait for a detonation.

Move forward and avoid a scientist with electrified gloves again. After jumping on a new ledge you must hit both chests and enter inside. Here, you must avoid electrical discharges and blobs, the best way to deal with them is to jump above them. After leaving this room you must take two additional lives from the nearby chests.

Hitting the exclamation mark chest opens a passage to a new room presented in the picture above - The Lab | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Hitting the exclamation mark chest opens a passage to a new room presented in the picture above. Don’t be in a hurry with entering it because this place contains more difficult traps to avoid. You must watch out for sliding floor and electrical discharges. Take some time to learn the order in which the traps are activated. Then, you can try to run to the other side of the room in one run or you can hide in the right niche marked on the picture and wait until the floor is solid again so you can finish your run the the exit from this room.

Between you and the portal that ends this level there is only one room with traps - The Lab | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Between you and the portal that ends this level there is only one room with traps. Approach the electrified poles and wait for a good moment to jump on one of the TNT chests presented in the picture. Don’t use the Spin attack and don’t try to bounce off because a countdown will start when you land on a new chest. Run to the exit and wait for the explosion. You can now go through the portal.

The Great Hall is a unique location in Crash Bandicoot that can be visited during the end of your stay on Cortex Island - The Great Hall | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The Great Hall is a unique location in Crash Bandicoot that can be visited during the end of your stay on Cortex Island. You can get there after completing The Lab level and before you start the final fight with Dr. Neo Cortex. In default, this level can be completed very quickly because the portal is right next to the starting place.

Of course, The Great Hall is not a location without any meaning - The Great Hall | Cortex Island | Levels - Crash Bandicoot - Cortex Island - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Of course, The Great Hall is not a location without any meaning. You can return here when you get Clear Gems that you get after completing a perfect run of a level. They are placed in special platforms on which you can jump (the picture above).

Getting all Gems allows you to reach the balcony where you can see the hidden ending during which you meet with Tawna. After watching it you can also see information about what happened to all bosses that you have defeated during the game.

This chapter contains a list of stages from the Jungle Warp Room, one of the three Warp Rooms in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back as seen in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The room consists of five portals leading to different levels – you may visit them without following any fixed order. Moreover, each portal can be revisited in order to make a time attack, pick up a left-over crystal, or (only in a number of limited occasions) gain additional crystals.

The Jungle Warp Room

This chapter contains a list of stages from the Jungle Warp Room, one of the three Warp Rooms in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back as seen in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The room consists of five portals leading to different levels – you may visit them without following any fixed order. Moreover, each portal can be revisited in order to make a time attack, pick up a left-over crystal, or (only in a number of limited occasions) gain additional crystals.

Completing all five levels from the room unlocks a boss encounter in which you’ll be facing Ripper Roo. The encounter is described in detail on a dedicated section of this guide.

To unlock access to the next room, you’ll need to find a violet crystal in each of the five levels and defeat Ripper Roo. This will unlock the central platform that will take you to a new Warp Room (Ice Warp Room).

Basic Data:

  • Normal Levels: 5
  • Unique Levels: 1 – Prologue. This stage serves as an introduction to the game – you can’t revisit it later.
  • Boss Encounters: 1 (Ripper Roo)
  • Unique gems: blue gem in Turtle Woods, red gem in Snow Go (you need to revisit the level in order to pick-up the item)

This short level begins automatically after initiating Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and serves the role of a short tutorial that will introduce you to basic controls. Remember that you cannot revisit the prologue after completing it. Fortunately, the stage doesn’t hold any gems or other valuable items.

Follow the path ahead and destroy encountered chests - Prologue | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Follow the path ahead and destroy encountered chests. The path is infested with armadillos – you can simply bypass them and continue moving forward, jump on them, or destroy using your spin attack or belly flop. In this case, avoid using your spin attack as there is a chest at the end of the stage (shown on the screenshot) that can only be reached if the chest below (chests marked with an arrow serve as springboards) will remain intact – the chest often gets destroyed during an attempt to get rid of the armadillo through your spin attack.

You’ll find yourself in the first Warp Room. Listen to a message from Dr. Neo Cortex and jump into one of the portals. The guide lists the stages in the same order as in the Warp Room.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem – Destroy all 62 chests.
  2. Blue Gem – Finish the level without touching a single chest.
  3. 1 secret area (no additional requirements)
  4. 1 bonus section.

Note – Acquiring both gems requires two playthroughs – one to gain the Clear Gem and one to gain the Blue Gem.

Warning – If you want to boast a collection of all the trophies, stop the game after initiating this stage and return to the Warp Room. Then, follow through all the steps seen in the walkthrough for Cortex N. Furiated (the Trophies section) as this is the only opportunity to get this trophy – if you’ve missed the opportunity, the only other way of getting this achievement is by starting the game anew.

Walkthrough:

The first fully-fledged level in Crash Bandicoot 2 – the difficulty level is rather low. However, this does not mean that a 100% completion will be easy – the second bonus stage is well-hidden, and getting both gems requires an additional playthrough.

Begin following the main path which should lead you to a small water basin - Turtle Woods | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Begin following the main path which should lead you to a small water basin. You can skip the search for an alternative path – simply go in and get submerged into the water without fear of drowning and losing a life.

Stand on the round stony circle shown on the screenshot above. This object serves as an entrance to one of two bonus areas in this level. To begin the bonus stage, stand inside the circle and perform a belly flop (jump and press Circle when in air). Crash will move the plate and use it to travel to the bonus area.

Start destroying the crates and move past the moving turtles. All turtles found in the area have spikes around them that prohibit you from using the spin attack – make a long jump or to land on top of the shell (the turtle will flip and become harmless) to incapacitate them. You’ll be engaged by a large bird further along the way. The bird will make an straight swoop – you can hit him from below or scale it by jumping. Skip the nitroglycerin chests by springing from the springboard chest and continue using the platforms above. The ostriches ahead can be simply jumped upon. Destroy the remaining chests and jump on the green chest with an exclamation mark to detonate the encountered green chests and add additional chests to your score. Continue moving right and step on the platform to return to the main area.

Once youre back to the main area, follow the main path and get past or eliminate the turtles ahead - Turtle Woods | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Once you’re back to the main area, follow the main path and get past or eliminate the turtles ahead. Soon, you’ll reach the entrance to the second bonus area. Simply stand on the plate with a large question mark to fall through to a new section.

The second bonus area is much simpler than the first – follow the path laid by the ledges and destroy five wooden crates.

Continue traversing the area and avoid additional turtles and armadillos.

If you are aiming to score the blue gem (awarded for leaving out all chests), you cannot destroy any of the chests that form the wall which blocks the way to the exit portal - Turtle Woods | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

If you are aiming to score the blue gem (awarded for leaving out all chests), you cannot destroy any of the chests that form the wall which blocks the way to the exit portal. The wall consists of breakable chests, aside from a single, more durable chest that survive up to 5 jumps – jump on it to get past the obstacle without losing your chances of getting the gem.

Warning – The wall can be scaled by utilizing a different method. Simply crouch next to the obstacle (Circle) and perform a jump which will be a bit higher than the normal one. This approach is much more risky, as destroying any of the chests will prohibit you from getting the Blue Gem.

Jump inside the pit - Turtle Woods | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump inside the pit. There is no way out, and your presence will summon moles that will start moving around the area. Defeat all opponents using your Spin attack to spawn a mushroom that will allow you to climb back to the ground level.

The path ahead sees you encounter a single turtle. If you want to reach an additional chest, use him as a springboard to reach a nearby wooden chest which is inaccessible with normal jumps.

The final stages of the level see you get past two additional mole pits – repeat the previous steps to emerge on the other side. The area between the pits contains an additional secret – a violet gem shown on the screenshot above. Each stage contains a similar object, which is a pre-requisite of getting access to the next Warp Room. Use the portal to end the level.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem – Destroy all 74 chests.
  2. Red Gem – Attained by using a secret passageway in Air Crash (one of the stages in Ice Warp Room)
  3. 1 bonus section.

Note – The red gem cannot be attained during the first playthrough of the stage. You need to get access to Air Crash, a stage in the second warp room (Ice Warp Room). The level contains a secret passageway that leads back to Snow Go. More details can be found below and in the walkthrough for Air Crash.

Walkthrough:

This stage is much harder than the previous one – you’ll encounter ice which is slippery and may make controlling your character difficult, for example you may not be able to dodge an obstacle in time.

Start moving forward - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start moving forward. Jump on the TNT crate to set it off, destroy the normal crate and IGNORE the green nitroglycerin chest (marked on the screenshot above). This type of chests cannot be destroyed on your own, as they explode instantly when contacted. Some of the areas contain detonator chests that detonate the nitroglycerin chests.

Soon you’ll encounter first penguins. Avoid their rotating attacks, as they are invulnerable during its duration. Wait for the attack to end then use your spin attack to take care of the opponent or simply skip them completely.

You’ll find yourself before the first frozen area. Spend some time to see how your character behaves on ice. Remember that you can change your direction or accelerate by performing a slide (Circle – when Crash is moving). Destroy all crates found in the area and take care of the TNT crate.

The narrow path ahead is inhabited by seals - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The narrow path ahead is inhabited by seals. Simply utilize your spin attack to take care of the threat. Watch out for the seals descending from the nearby hill, as these are easily hit if you are not careful. Stay mobile, as new seals will appear until you’ve made it to the top of the hill.

Approach the new rink and make a skew move to avoid nitroglycerin chests, then jump on the platform which will take you to a new checkpoint.

Start moving right. Watch out for the mechanism marked on the screenshot above, as touching the bottom plates activates a large stony block which will crush the area nearby. Either make a run to the other side, or wait until the block strikes to have a safe passage.

Continue moving right - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Continue moving right. Aside from a new pressure-sensitive crusher, you’ll encounter a series of automatic ones. Get past them and jump over a nitroglycerin chest found further along the way. Follow the sign and jump into the hole to begin the bonus round.

The bonus section is short and contains a total of 10 crates. Move through the ice by destroying two crates and start climbing by utilizing the arranged set of crates (alternatively, you can crouch and press jump to perform a higher jump which will allow you to access the upper crates) and get past the frozen ledge to reach the end.

Once you’re back to the main level, hit the metal detonator chest and destroy any wooden chests along the way. Jump inside the hole encountered ahead in order to reach a new checkpoint. Make a few steps backwards – you’ll encounter a new detonator chest which will detonate all remaining green chests.

Start skating through the ice and make a jump when close to the chasm - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start skating through the ice and make a jump when close to the chasm. If you’ve made it to the other side, destroy the crate wall (some of the chests are reinforced, and can be destroyed by utilizing the belly flop) and pick-up the violet gem.

Continue moving forward until you’ve encountered the second springboard chest and use it to destroy the upper chest and reach a new detonator found fixed high in the air. Double back and make your way to the white frameworks encountered earlier which now turned into real chests.

You’re almost at the end of the stage. Watch out for seals sliding down from the hill top – simply jump over them or use your spin attack to get past the obstacle. Destroy the final chests and use the portal to leave the area.

Getting the Red Gem

1 - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
As I mentioned before, you cannot acquire the Red Gem during your first playthrough of Snow Go - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

As I mentioned before, you cannot acquire the Red Gem during your first playthrough of Snow Go. Instead, wait until you’ve gained access to the second warp room (Ice Warp Room) and begin a level called Air Crash. Stop before the first surfing board section and look for an unusual platform shown on screenshot 1. If you’ve made it to the described area, DO NOT jump on the surfing board yet. Instead, make a long jump to the nearest floating crate and use the remaining ones to access a lone platform which will take you to a hidden portal room. Use the portal seen on screenshot 2 to access a previously inaccessible section of Snow Go.

The hidden area is much harder than what you are accustomed to. Maintain momentum by skating right and use your spin attack to destroy encountered monsters. Be ready to make a jump, as you’ll need to get past a small chasm.

Continue moving right and past the inactive chests that support a row of apples. Watch out for a green chest at the end of the ledge, as disposing of the penguin may detonate it prematurely. Use the detonator on the ledge below to activate the inactive chests. Start by coming back to the previous area and use the unlocked chests to pick up the apples and a life that are fixed above.

Return to the detonator chest - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Return to the detonator chest. Jump on it, crouch, and press jump. This will allow Crash to make a larger jump and reach one of the metal chests above. Continue by jumping on the next chest and pick up new lives that can be reached by making a jump off the springboard chest.

The next part of this stage contains various traps that may crush the hero – the first obstacle of this kind is shown on the screenshot above. Perform a slide to get past the dangerous area and take care of the penguin found right next to the trap.

You’ll encounter a large density of explosive chests. Start skating right and scale the green chests by making single jumps. Your moves have to be well aimed, otherwise you’ll end up blown-up or in one of the chasms. Make a slide to get past the new trap and to dispose of four penguins found on both sides of the area.

Youre almost at the end of the stage - Snow Go | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You’re almost at the end of the stage. Dispose of a few penguins and jump into a small hole. Crash will pick-up the red gem in flight (screenshot above).

You’re back in the already visited part of Snow Go. Make your way backwards to unlock a checkpoint. Turn right and continue through the final part of the level (which you’ve had visited earlier). The red gem will be added to your collection once you’ve made it back to the warp room.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem #1 – Destroy all 74 of the chests. The feat can only be accomplished if you have the blue gem from Turtle Woods in your possession.
  2. Clear Gem #2 – Complete the stage in the allocated time limit. The time counter will appear once you’ve reached the first surfing board.
  3. 1 secret area (accessible if you have the Turtle Woods Blue Gem in your possession)
  4. 1 bonus section

Note – I recommend two separate playthroughs of the stage – one to gain Clear Gem #1 (awarded for destroying all chests) and one to gain Clear Gem #2 (awarded for completing the stage in the allocated time limit)

Walkthrough:

The stage takes place next to water, making it much more difficult, as even a small mistake can end up costing you a life. Moreover, stay alert during the surfing board sections – the board is propelled and maintains a quite unnerving speed, while the area is filled with mines and whirlpools.

Follow the narrow path forward which is guarded by piranhas and a carnivorous plant - Hang Eight | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Follow the narrow path forward which is guarded by piranhas and a carnivorous plant. The piranhas make a jump to the other side of the path when you come closer – you can engage them using your spin attack or simply wait and get past them when the fish lands on the other side of the path. The plants are more dangerous – you need to time your spin attack to be the first one to attack.

The road ends with a wooden pier which has a propelled surfing board parked inside. Start by destroying nearby chests and jump on the surfing board to begin the sequence. The board moves forward on its own – perform short turns using the analog stick to avoid mines (shown on the screenshot above) and whirlpools that will drown the board along with its user. If you are feeling confident, you can perform a short dash by pressing Square.

Note – The first surfing board sequence also marks the beginning of a timed challenge that is rewarded with a Clear Gem if successful. Your task is to reach the end of the level before time runs out. If it’s your first playthrough, consider skipping the challenge in order to see the whole section and prepare yourself for the obstacles. The challenge is not that difficult – focus on using the afterburner to scale the river sections. Furthermore, you can save additional seconds by jumping straight to the second hippopotamus.

If youve managed to reach the next part of the level, activate the checkpoint and continue moving forward - Hang Eight | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

If you’ve managed to reach the next part of the level, activate the checkpoint and continue moving forward. Dispose of the carnivorous plants and step on the platform to begin the bonus section. The area has a total count of 11 chests, most of them easily accessible (move away from TNT crate to let it explode). You’ll encounter a wall built from metal chests. Perform a slide or hold Circle to crawl.

1 - Hang Eight | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Finish the bonus section and continue moving forward - Hang Eight | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Finish the bonus section and continue moving forward. Stop for a moment in the area seen on screenshot 1. If you’ve managed to acquire a Blue Gem (awarded for completing Turtle Woods without destroying any chests) the white outline will be changed into a platform that can be used to access a secret area. Here, you’ll encounter a hippopotamus for the first time. You can use their backs as platforms, but the animal will start submerging if you stay on his back for too long.

The checkpoint ahead is surrounded by eight explosive chests. Perform a jump to reach the checkpoint and slowly continue to the surfing board. Start moving forward and reach the metal chest shown on screenshot 2. Hitting it will add additional chests in the areas visited earlier. Return to the pier and use Boost before each ramp to be able to reach the fixed chests. If you’ve managed to reach the end of the area, hit the green chest (you’ll detonate all nitroglycerin chests nearby) and leave the secret area.

Regardless of whether youve visited the secret area or not, continue moving up the river - Hang Eight | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Regardless of whether you’ve visited the secret area or not, continue moving up the river. Focus on the hippopotamus section, as you need to make a longer jump in order to reach the ledge ahead. If you’ve made it to the other side, pick-up the violet crystal and continue. You’ll encounter two hippopotamus which you need to use to get to the next ledge.

Activate the checkpoint and use the new surfing board. As always, avoid mines and whirlpools and use the encountered ramps (press Square to activate the afterburner). You’ll soon reach the final walkway that leads to the portal.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem – Destroy all the chests (54 in total)
  2. 1 bonus section.

Walkthrough:

This stage is may prove to be more difficult than the previous ones, mainly thanks to a new opponent – birds that perform a head-on swooping move that forces you to time your jump. It is also the first level in which you’ll encounter a junction – if your goal is to destroy all chests, you’ll need to return to the other corridor after clearing the first one.

The first encounter with the aforementioned enemy takes place soon after the beginning of the stage - The Pits | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The first encounter with the aforementioned enemy takes place soon after the beginning of the stage. You may have dealt with them in the secret area in one of the previous levels. Otherwise, this will be your first encounter with swoopers. You can either jump over the opponent, provided you are close enough to get over the bird, or simply land on the enemy to dispose of him.

Continue your journey - The Pits | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Continue your journey. You’ll encounter a junction soon after activating the new checkpoint. Begin by turning left, but remember the area, as you’ll return to visit the second path later (provided you are planning to destroy all chests found in the level)

Follow the narrow path and eliminate opponents found along the way. You’ll also encounter a chest with an exclamation mark – use it to activate additional chests. The path further ahead is guarded by two birds that will make a swooping move one after another – perform a jump and get rid of both creatures in a single combination. The violet crystal is at the end of the path – there are no additional crates in the left corridor.

Return to the aforementioned junction and choose the second path - The Pits | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Return to the aforementioned junction and choose the second path. Watch out for turtles protected by spike collars – you can either avoid them or use your spin attack. Destroy new chests (some of them contain new lives) and reach the area where the both paths converge (screenshot above)

Continue down the only available road and activate a new checkpoint. Jump inside the pit that blocks your way forward and defeat the appearing moles to unlock a mushroom and leave the area.

Step on the bonus plate - The Pits | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Step on the bonus plate. If you are aiming to destroy all crates (23 in total), you need to follow the tips below, as otherwise you may skip some of the crates.

Destroy the first crate and perform a belly flop (Circle when airborne) to destroy the reinforced crates (they are invulnerable to spin attacks or normal jumping). Continue moving right and slide below a wall made of metal crates. Make your way through the three crates (bounce from each one in order to reach the ledge below) and hit a chest with an exclamation mark found on the second ledge. Now, make your way back by springing from the three chests and destroy 2 crates (make a longer jump) that were unlocked by activating the metal crate. Destroy the three chests (jump on them until they are destroyed and proceed to the next one) and make your way to the end of the stage.

Continue by avoiding turtles and clearing the mole pits until you’ve reached the portal.

Secrets:

  1. Clear Gem -Destroy all crates (44 in total)
  2. 1 bonus section

Walkthrough:

In this stage, Crash has to escape before a large rolling boulder. The escape scenes are entwined with short exploration sequences – use them to find the bonus section and to destroy additional crates to receive the Clear Gem.

The escape sequence begins shortly after emerging from the portal - Crash Dash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The escape sequence begins shortly after emerging from the portal. The path leads through small chasms that have to be scaled, as well as other dangers including mines similar to the one shown on the screenshot above. Touching the mine won’t kill the hero instantly, but will cause a short stun which increases the probability of being hit by the boulder. Aside from the above, you’ll encounter electrical fences and green nitroglycerin crates that appear in the further part of the level (these will be destroyed by the boulder).

Fortunately, each checkpoint area will stop the boulder until you’re ready to start again. Use such opportunities to find and destroy additional crates.

One of the checkpoints contain the violet gem (the item will appear on the left side - see the screenshot above) and the entrance to the bonus area - Crash Dash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Jungle Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

One of the checkpoints contain the violet gem (the item will appear on the left side – see the screenshot above) and the entrance to the bonus area. The area contains 17 crates, most of them easily accessible. Focus on avoiding TNT blasts (destroy the crate in the middle then move away from the stack until it blows up) and watch out for the chasm at the end of the section (you’ll need to scale the chasm by utilizing apple crates which can survive up to 5 jumps)

The final section of the escape introduces acceleration plates with green arrows which offer a temporary boost to your speed. You can use the advantage to reach additional crates which are otherwise hard to get (the leftover ones are destroyed by the boulder, but these won’t be added to your score).

Note – You are now heading to a boss fight against Ripper Roo – see the dedicated section for further tips.

In this chapter, you will find information on stages in the Ice Warp Room, in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, which makes up the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy collection. By default, there are five portals to next stages in this room. You do not have to complete individual stages in the order suggested by the game. Each mission is replayable, which you can do to, e.g. take the time trial, collect the crystal that you have missed (only in some cases), obtain additional gems.

1 - Ice Warp Room | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump several times onto the cub in the Ice Warp Room - Ice Warp Room | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump several times onto the cub in the Ice Warp Room

After you have completed the five stages for the first time, you will unlock a boss battle with Komodo Brothers. The battle itself has been discussed in a separate chapter of this walkthrough.

To advance to the next part of the game, in each of the five stages, you gave to find the violet crystal and defeat Komodo Brothers. This will unlock the central platform and you will be able to move on to the next location with portals – Sewer Warp Room.

In Ice Warp Room, you are up for additional attractions. First of all, you will find here Coc’s time machine shown in screenshot 1. After you interact with it, you can confirm that you want Coco to join you. From then on, you can change the character by pressing R2 button (it is compulsory that Crash fights bosses). Apart from that, in this room, there is a small cub shown in screenshot 2. Start jumping onto it until you have unlocked A Helping Paw trophy and obtained as many as 10 extra lives.

Key information:

  1. Number of regular levels: 5
  2. Number of boss fights: 1 (Komodo Brothers)
  3. Unique gems: green gem in The Eel Deal

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash all 125 crates. To reach all of the locations with crates, you require the red gem from Snow Go.
  2. 1 secret stage (requires red gem).
  3. 1 bonus round.

Note – It has been mentioned above that you require a red gem, if you are going to smash all of the crates. You can obtain this stone by starting another stage in Ice Warp Room – Air Crash. Therefore, it is better to consider playing the individual stages in a different order: start with Air Crash, take the secret portal there and complete the secret path in mission Snow Go, which will lead you to the location where you obtain a red gem. After you have done that, you can start Snow Biz, because it will be possible then to reach all of the crates on the first take.

Description:

This one is a longer and occasionally burdensome stage. Even on the main path ,you can encounter many traps and spots where you have to slide over ice. You will run into even more trouble after you have obtained the red gem and unlocked the secret stage, where there are many more spots where you can die.

Right after the beginning of the stage, start sliding over ice and, at the right moment, take a jump to avoid the chasm - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Right after the beginning of the stage, start sliding over ice and, at the right moment, take a jump to avoid the chasm. Follow the linear path and, along your way, jump carefully onto one of the TNT crates to start the countdown. A bit ahead, watch out for the penguins sliding down, as well as for seals. It is best to Spin-attack them when you are still sliding down towards a small chasm. Jump onto the platform to ride up.

In the next part of the stage, go right and avoid hedgehogs at all costs (an example has been shown in the above screenshot), over which you have to jump at the right moment (also, you can attack them by sliding into them, but only when they are not ready to attack). You should especially watch out for the hedgehog on the small stone ledge. You have to jump onto its left side, jump over the hedgehog after it starts moving towards Crash and leave just as quickly.

1 - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
If you have obtained the red gem in Snow Go, soon you will be able to take the red platform shown in screenshot 1, which will take you to a secret stage - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

If you have obtained the red gem in Snow Go, soon you will be able to take the red platform shown in screenshot 1, which will take you to a secret stage. Go right here, smash the crates (save the green one). Avoid more hedgehogs and reach the area with a larger amount of crates (screenshot 2). Here, you have to press Circle in mid-air, thanks to which Crash will body-slam into the brown crates and smash them. Additionally, bounce off the crate with arrow to reach TNT crates above and touch one of them.

Note the metal crates on the right. Jump onto the crates suspended from the ceiling (if necessary – slide and jump immediately afterwards). Smash all of the crates above the arrows. Head right and each time you find a bunch of TNT crates, land onto one of them and escape before they go off.

2 - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
In one of the next locations, jump carefully over the two green crates - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

In one of the next locations, jump carefully over the two green crates. In the next area, smash all of the crates suspended from the ceiling, which you can easily reach by performing long bounces. Watch out after you reach the location shown in screenshot 1. You will find the first trap here and, to avoid death, perform a slide. Go right and use slides again to get over the larger chasms. Watch out for a trap here, as well as for the wooden bridge that will collapse after you dash over it. In the next section, you will have to slide under traps and slide alternatingly, to avoid being crushed.

In the next area, there are many crates with nitroglycerine. First, slide and jump over the three crates at the last possible moment (screenshot 2). Then, run over the wooden bridge (without stopping!) and jump over the green crates at the right moment. In the next area, watch out for the falling icicles – approach them carefully to make them drop.

Take a long jump and approach the location, where there is a hedgehog circling around under the nitroglycerine crate. Wait for him to lose interest in Crash and, after it goes right, slide quickly to eliminate it. Finally, hit the crate with the exclamation mark to detonate all of the nitroglycerine crates and leave this place.

Regardless of whether you have explored the secret area or not, you will still have to go right - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Regardless of whether you have explored the secret area or not, you will still have to go right. Watch yourself before the next jump. It has to be along one (slide in and jump at the moment, at which you are, theoretically, sliding over the chasm) and performed at the moment in which the trap is inactive.

Start sliding down carefully and jump along the ride to smash crates (if you miss any, you can always return here). Right after you take the jump, continue that way to avoid traps. The next slide down will be more difficult, because you will have to eliminate a seal in your way and press the jump button at the end to prevent falling down. Right after the jump, STOP, because there are icicles shown in the above screenshot here, which you might have already seen in the secret stage. It is better to approach the icicles carefully and let them detach from the ceiling and crash in front of you.

Slide over the ice at the right moment to avid the trap - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Slide over the ice at the right moment to avid the trap. Smash new crates hidden in the background behind the rocks. After you avoid one more trap, it is a good idea to take several slides, which will make it easier to avoid the icicles. Head right and, in the spot shown in the above screenshot, jump into the large hole to start the bonus round.

Here, there are 18 crates to smash. Watch your step while jumping over the icy ledges and try not to slow down here, because you may be unable to reach the next ledge. Reach the metal crate with exclamation mark and, after you hit it, return towards the crate frames you have been passing earlier to smash them all. A bit ahead, you will run into a wall of crates. Smash one of them and slowly, start to slide left. You have to reach the left edge of this ledge, which will allow you to avoid being blown up by TNT crates. After you have smashed them, go towards the end of the bonus round.

After you return to the main path, start sliding down and eliminate the two seals - Snow Biz | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you return to the main path, start sliding down and eliminate the two seals. You can now jump down into the large hole. You will travel to the next part of the stage, where you go up the screen.

Here, you have to watch out for the rolling stones. In themselves, they do not pose too much problem, but two of them are separated by ice and you have to take sufficient run-up to take a correct jump. A bit ahead, there is a violet crystal (the above screenshot).

Head to the top of the hill and watch out for the penguins. Also, watch your step while on the icy surface, because you will have to jump over a small chasm. What’s left is only the rolling stone. Right past it, there is a corridor to the portal that ends this mission.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem 1 – Smash all 102 crates. To reach all of the locations with crates you need to take the secret passage in Bear Down (one of the locations in Sewer Warp Room).
  2. (Clear Gem 2) – Complete the Death Route. To unlock it, you have to activate the pressure plate that opens it, without dying once. Additionally, you have to complete the route without dying.
  3. 2 secret stages (Death Route and a secret stage that you unlock, after you take the portal in Bear Down).
  4. A secret portal (allows you to reach the secret stage in Snow Go).
  5. A bonus round.

Note – Destroying all of the crates in this stage is troublesome, because you will encounter many dangers here. It is best to focus, at first, only on unlocking the secret portal and obtaining the violet crystal. Leave the rest of the collectibles for later.

Try to reach all of the crates ONLY after you have unlocked the secret portal in a later part of Bear Down in Sewer Warp Room (see the bottom of this page to learn more, as well as the walkthrough for Bear Down). Additionally, you cannot have Crash die along his path to the starting point of the first Death Route (this has been introduced in Crash Bandicoot 2).

Description:

In its basic version, this stage is not too demanding, although it requires some degree of precision and swiftness, e.g. while avoiding carnivorous plants or nitroglycerine crates.

Unlocking all of the secrets connected with it may not only take you some time, but also cause some problems. This, predominantly, means Death Route, where you have to complete larger part of the stage without having Crash die.

1 - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump over to the ledge z carnivorous plant (activate Spin attack in mid-air) and reach the neighboring stable platforms - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump over to the ledge z carnivorous plant (activate Spin attack in mid-air) and reach the neighboring stable platforms. Head up the river and watch out in spots where you have to jump onto the floating pols. Because it is easy to make a mistake here and fall into water. Soon, you will reach the first checkpoint.

Approach the water, BUT do not jump onto the surfboard just yet. Instead, start jumping over crates shown in screenshot 1. You have to get onto the square platform shown in screenshot 2. Jump up here to activate the portal and obtain the Jumping the Jetboard trophy. You will get into a secret room in the basement and you will be able to use the portal to reach the part of Snow Go that is unreachable in any other way. See now the part of the walkthrough that discusses the new secret part of the stage and obtaining the Red Gem.

Start this stage once again and this time around, after you reach the first checkpoint, use the jetboard - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Start this stage once again and this time around, after you reach the first checkpoint, use the jetboard. You shouldn’t hurry along the path, because apart from the destructible wooden crates around, there also are a lot of mines here. Use Boost before each ramp to reach the crates suspended high above and make it over the palisade. At the end of the ride, park the board carefully between nitroglycerine crates.

After you return to land, unlock the checkpoint and move on. Jump onto the hippopotamus at the right moment, because the nearby dam submerges on a regular basis and it is easy to drown here. After several steps, you will run into a plate with the question mark, shown in the above screenshot. Thanks to it, you will travel to the bonus round. Here, you have to smash 8 crates. Reach crates with exclamation marks (watch out for the TNT crate, and the brown one that must be body-slammed). Jump between the single crates hanging above the chasm. Finally, take a long jump, after you have bounced off the crate with arrow.

After you have finished the bonus round, head up the river - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you have finished the bonus round, head up the river. Along your path, jump onto the single floating crate (you have to jump off just as carefully to avoid drowning) and collect the violet crystal. If you haven’t died so far, the round plate with skull shown in the above screenshot will be active and it will take you to Death Route. This is a quite difficult part. You have to start by jumping over the floating platforms. Take short jumps here, to avoid problems with determining where to land. A bit ahead, take three well-timed jumps.

In the second part of the Death Route, there is a short jetboard ride to take. Use Boost towards the end, to squeeze between the three floating mines. Finally, use hippopotamuses to reach the corridor with clear gem.

After you return to the main river, head on - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you return to the main river, head on. In the area with TNT crates, you can first try to smash the regular crates, or start the countdown straight away and leave. Reach the next checkpoint (the above screenshot), but take your time before you jump onto the jetboard. Instead, start jumping over the platforms on the left. It should be noted that these have to be long jumps, so use ducking or sliding to your advantage. You will reach a ledge with four destructible crates.

Return to the jetboard and use it now. Avoid mines, especially the ones floating near the ledge that you have just cleared, as well as those near the palisade. After you leave the water, head towards the finishing point.

Unlock the secret portal:

2 - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
It has been mentioned earlier that all of the crates in Air Crash cannot be reached on the first playing - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

It has been mentioned earlier that all of the crates in Air Crash cannot be reached on the first playing. First, you have to gain access to the first room with portals (Sewer Warp Room) and start Bear Down from there. Complete that stage. After Crash is knocked down by the cub, do not go towards the stage exit and instead, jump onto the floating platforms shown in screenshot 1 (they will submerge, so jump off as quickly as possible). The secret portal will be activated after you reach the larger ledge shown in the above screenshot. You will warp to the secret room in the basement (screenshot 2) and this is where you can use the portal to warp Crash to the part of Air Crash that used to be inaccessible.

This part of Air Crash is not too long - Air Crash | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

This part of Air Crash is not too long. You have to start by jumping onto the jetboard and, during the ride, watch out for mines, whirlpools and green nitroglycerine crates (one of them is hidden past the first palisade – the above screenshot). Note – if you want to obtain the extra lives suspended above, you will have to take perfect jumps towards the floating crates and lose one life at the end.

After the ride ends, hit the crate with exclamation mark and all of the green crates you have avoided will go off. Climb up and reach the larger square ledge. You will warp to the beginning of Air Crash, from where you can go to find the remaining crates.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash all 45 crates.

Description:

In this stage, you will be traveling on the cub’s back. This resembles the stages from the first part of the series, where you traveled on a piglet. Do not worry if you die several times, because the stage relies heavily on remembering the route performing several quick actions to get all of the crates.

Note – The loading screen of the game suggests that it is possible to speed the cub up. Ignore this piece of information, while attempting to obtain the crystal and destroy all of the crates. It will come in handy while playing this stage on with time counter.

Jump onto the cub to start - Bear It | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump onto the cub to start. After a while, you will have to slalom, because this is the only way in which you can smash all of the crates. Another spot like that is a small icy path, where you have to try to run along the center, because it is nearly impossible to turn on ice.

Shortly, past the first checkpoint, you will obtain the first violet crystal (the above screenshot) and you will encounter killer whales for the first time. They jump over the water surface to the left and right of the ice hole, in turns, so you have to determine beforehand where you can jump safely.

Right after you have unlocked the second checkpoint, you will get into an area with two ticking TNT crates on the sides - Bear It | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Right after you have unlocked the second checkpoint, you will get into an area with two ticking TNT crates on the sides. Ignore them and run along the center. Remain in the central part of the path, because you will have to avoid icy area with four green nitroglycerine crates.

Up ahead, there is another ice hole and here, you will have to jump diagonally (because the left part of the path is missing).

Right after you take one of the jumps later, go left quickly to avoid the totem. Unlock the checkpoint and, after you reach the mine field shown in the above screenshot, jump carefully over the single crates on the left. After you do that, go right to get three crates.

Another demanding spot is the fragment of the path, where the cub has to climb onto a small elevation - Bear It | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Another demanding spot is the fragment of the path, where the cub has to climb onto a small elevation. There are the last three crates here and you have to exercise your reflex to perform the slalom correctly and smash them all.

Soon, you will be launched into the air. After you land, hit the metal crate shown in the above screenshot, because this will detonate all of the remaining nitroglycerine crates. After that, go to the portal that ends this stage.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash all 57 crates.
  2. 1 bonus round.

Description:

After Crash Dash, this is the next mission where you have to escape from the rolling stones. This time, there are even more traps to avoid here and in the case of some of them, you will have to use perfect slides. Also, you may have some problems reaching one of the optional areas with crates.

The first escape from the stone will start right after you leave the starting tunnel - Crash Crush | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The first escape from the stone will start right after you leave the starting tunnel. Just like in Crash Dash, jump over the chasms and try to avoid mines, because each time you fail, you will be a step closer to being crushed.

Soon after you go past checkpoint, you will run into an electrified dam for the first time, shown in the above screenshot. Do not attempt to go around this type of obstacles, nor jump over them. Instead, you have to use slides that you activate with Circle.

Soon after you get past the abovementioned obstacle, you will reach a spot where you can explore the upper, optional path - Crash Crush | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Soon after you get past the abovementioned obstacle, you will reach a spot where you can explore the upper, optional path. Go there and slide to avoid the first dam. The second one is much more troublesome, because there is a chasm behind it. You have to slide again and, right past the dam, press the jump button (before the slide ends). If you have gotten it down, you will get to the location shown in the above screenshot. Smash the two crates here and stand on the round platform that will take you to a fork and let you follow the main path.

Soon, you will get past the second checkpoint and this is where the second escape starts. While escaping, you will have to slide again, whenever you encounter an electrified dam. Apart from that, in several spots, you will run into green nitroglycerine crates, where you have to keep a safe distance.

Right after the second escape, you will reach a clearly visible plate with the question mark (the above screenshot) - Crash Crush | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Right after the second escape, you will reach a clearly visible plate with the question mark (the above screenshot). Standing on the plate will start the bonus round. During the round, slide and jump to get to the ledge on the right, in the area with lots of apples. Destroying the remaining wooden crates is very easy.

After you return to the main path, start running and collect the violet crystal from the left side of the screen - Crash Crush | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you return to the main path, start running and collect the violet crystal from the left side of the screen. Soon, the last run will start which is no different than the previous ones. Consider swerving around the third green plate that speeds you up, because there is a chasm right behind it and you may not be able to press the jump button that quickly.

When it comes to the rest of the green plates, you can well use them, because this will win you some time for smashing crates up ahead. Pay special attention to the crate shown in the above screenshot, which you have to body-slam onto (Circle in mid-air). After a while, you will reach a chamber with portal in it which ends this stage.

Collectibles:

  1. Clear Gem – Smash all 79 crates.
  2. Green Gem – Reach the secret area with the gem.
  3. 1 secret stage (there is a green gem there).
  4. 1 bonus round.

Note – It is possible to obtain the green gem while playing this stage for the first time. It is a good idea to try and get it, even though it is surrounded with many traps.

Description:

This is the first stage of the game in the sewers. Therefore, you will encounter many new types of opponents and traps. It may be troublesome to avoid some of them.

Also reaching the secret chamber with the green gem is not easy. That is because there is a large bunch of nitroglycerine crates in front of it.

Follow the sewers - The Eel Deal | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Follow the sewers. After you encounter the first robot, Spin-attack it which will knock it back into the active fan an damage one of the elements. This should help you get around the fan, but use slide anyways, to decrease the risk of colliding with one of the active blades.

Eliminate the robots and take a closer look at the closest water reservoir, where there is an eel swimming (the above screenshot). Thanks to this type of fish, there will be discharges appearing at regular intervals. Wait for them to stop and dash to the other end of the reservoir. In the next tunnel, you will have to avoid another fan, but there should be a mask in one of the crates before it, which should provide protection, in case you bump into a blade.

Approach the new reservoir with an eel. In this location, you can jump over the floating platforms, but you should realize that each one of them goes down to the bottom, if you stand on it for longer than several seconds.

1 - The Eel Deal | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
From the moment that you reach the next checkpoint, you will also have to watch out for rats wearing armors with spikes - The Eel Deal | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

From the moment that you reach the next checkpoint, you will also have to watch out for rats wearing armors with spikes. In theory, they can be eliminated, if only you land on the back of one, but it is much more convenient to leave them alone, especially that they are sluggish.

Get around another reservoir with an eel. Soon, you will reach the fork shown in screenshot 1 . Take the left leg, because this is where the green gem is. You will reach a room with a lot of nitroglycerine crates. Start walking around them towards the wall shown in screenshot 2. It’s an illusory wall and you can cross it to enter a secret location.

Walk around the rats and, after you get near the water reservoir, watch out for the green crates. Continue your journey and, after you reach the corridor with five floating platforms, jump from from one over onto the other. At the end of the tunnel, there is the green gem.

After you have obtained the green gem, return along the same path, up to the fork (again, watch out for the discharges and nitroglycerine crates - The Eel Deal | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you have obtained the green gem, return along the same path, up to the fork (again, watch out for the discharges and nitroglycerine crates!) and follow the left leg. Get around the rats and the water reservoir here. You will reach the plate with the question mark shown in the above screenshot. Standing on the plate will warp you to the bonus round.

In the bonus round, there are 14 crates. Hit the metal crate with exclamation mark and reach the bunch of wooden destructible crates. Finally, start bouncing off the arrows to get rid of the remaining three ones.

Follow the main part of the sewers - The Eel Deal | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Follow the main part of the sewers. In the next tunnel, watch out for a fan, especially that you cannot launch a rat into it. After you reach a fork, follow the left path, which will lead you to the room with a violet crystal shown in the above screenshot. Also, there are some crates here, and some of them can be destroyed with body-slams.

Return to the fork and check out the right path. Watch your step where there is another eel, because additionally, you have to avoid nitroglycerine crates (jump diagonally). Continue your exploration and, after you reach the end of the tunnel, smash all of the crates. Only after you do that, jump into the nearby hole in the floor.

After you reach a new location in the sewers, head towards the upper edge of the screen - The Eel Deal | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Ice Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you reach a new location in the sewers, head towards the upper edge of the screen. Hit the crate with exclamation mark, and jump to grab the grate under the ceiling shown in the above screenshot. While hanging down, start moving and stop after you run into a new opponent. Wait for the robots to move away and go ahead.

Jump off the grate only after you reach its end. In the tunnel, avoid the robots, because they have spikes and bumping into them ends in immediate death. When it comes to the last two robots, jump over them. You can now go straight to the portal and end this stage.

Note – After the end of the stage, you will fight Komodo Brothers who are the bosses. This fight has been described in a separate chapter.

This chapter provides information about levels in Sewer Warp Room, available in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, which makes up the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. By default, there are five portals in the room, which lead to the next stages and you do not have to unlock them in the order suggested by the game. You can replay each and every mission, e.g. to play the time trial, collect the crystal that you have missed or (in some cases), to collect additional gems.

Overall view of the Sewer Warp Room

After you have finished all five levels for the first time, you gain access to the battle with the third boss of the game – Tiny Tiger. The battle itself has been described in detail in a separate part of this walkthrough.

To progress into the next stage of the game, you have to find a violet crystal in each of the five levels and defeat Tiny Tiger. This will unlock the central platform that will take you to the next room with portals – Alpine Warp Room.

Key information:

  • Number of regular levels: 5
  • Number of boss fights: 1 (Tiny Tiger)
  • Unique gems to find: yellow gem in Plant Food

Collectibles:

  • Clear Gem – Smash all 53 crates.
  • Yellow gem – Complete the stage before time runs out. The countdown appears on the screen after you reach the first checkpoint
  • 1 bonus round.

Note – to obtain both of the gems, it is best to play this stage twice, first to obtain the clear gem for smashing all of the crates, and then to obtain the yellow gem for making it within the time limit.

Description:

This is yet another level that takes place on the river, yet there are more traps here, than in the earlier stages. An additional handicap is the fact that you will have to complete its larger portion within certain time, if you want to obtain the yellow gem and, for obvious reasons, you will have to avoid making even the minutest mistakes.

Jump onto the first floating platform, take another jump and eliminate the carnivorous plant - Plant Food | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Jump onto the first floating platform, take another jump and eliminate the carnivorous plant. On the top, keep jumping between the floating posts and then, take several jumps to land onto hippos. Soon, you will reach the first checkpoint.

Note – After you have reached the checkpoint in the bottom part of the screen, a countdown will start (the above screenshot). It is connected with the opportunity to obtain the yellow gem for completing the stage within time limit. It is best to do that while replaying this level. It is not too difficult to obtain the gem, but you will have to use boost during each jetboard ride. The last ride is the most difficult, because you cannot lose any time on eliminating the plants, before jumping onto the board. Therefore, use boost to avoid being caught by them. In the section with TNT crates, jump off the crates to make it faster through the parts with carnivorous plants. Also, remember about avoiding nitroglycerine crates, especially that they will be hopping occasionally. If you do not stop anywhere for longer, you should reach the end of the stage with 5-8 seconds left.

During the first jetboard ride, focus on avoiding, mines and whirlwinds - Plant Food | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

During the first jetboard ride, focus on avoiding, mines and whirlwinds. The most difficult is the whirlwind shown in the above screenshot. Here, you have to steer as close to the palisade on the left as possible and, additionally, activate boost at the right moment. Later on, also avoid nitroglycerine crates, but this will be easy.

Activate the next checkpoint and move on. Around, there are two TNT crates and it is best to jump off each one of them, because you will land onto the nearby carnivorous plants and deal with them easily.

Stop in the current location for a moment - Plant Food | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Stop in the current location for a moment. On the left, there is a pressure plate with the question mark, which will take you to the bonus round (the above screenshot). In the bonus round, there are a dozen crates to smash. Some of them are TNT crates, but it is easy to get away from them after the countdown starts. It is a bit more difficult to jump onto the ledge with the last crate. You can either distance it properly, or slide right before you jump.

Reach the second jetboard and steer up the river. During the ride, you have to watch out for the carnivorous plants for the first time. They will appear on the small square platform by the water. Do not approach them, because you can be devoured even if you are using the board. Keep your distanceand try to use boost whenever necessary.

After you go out into the mainland, reach the violet crystal (the above screenshot) and the checkpoint - Plant Food | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you go out into the mainland, reach the violet crystal (the above screenshot) and the checkpoint. Take your time before you jump onto the next jetboard and explore the area on the right. Eliminate all of the carnivorous plants around (including the one on the left ledge with crates), thanks to which you will not have to worry about them later on.

You can now return to the jetboard and continue up the stream. Aloing your way, use the ramp and watch out for the plant at the very end. You can avoid it using boost. There only are two rows of green crates left to avoid. Take your time here, because some of them are hopping. Finally, hit the crate with the exclamation mark to blow up all the crates you have left out. You can now end this stage.

Collectibles:

  • Clear Gem – Smash all 57 crates.
  • Clear Gem #2 – you can find it in the secret location that you unlock after you have used the yellow gem
  • 1 secret location (requires yellow gem).
  • 1 bonus round.

Description:

This is another stage in the sewers. There are several new elements here, but you should be already familiar with the majority of enemies and traps. Try to follow the below walkthrough, because taking the wrong path may result in missing some of the crates required for the clear gems.

After the stage starts, walk around the nitroglycerine crate and the robots - Sewer or Later | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After the stage starts, walk around the nitroglycerine crate and the robots. Soon, you will encounter an opponent armed with a flame thrower (the above screenshot). Do not move until he stops throwing flames and only after, get around him or eliminate him using the Spin attack in mid-air.

Here, get through the tunnel with robots and stop by the reservoir with the eel. It is best to smsh the crates on the sides here and then jump onto the floating platforms (remember that they may sink if you stay on them for too long).

1 - Sewer or Later | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
In the next location, use one more platform and reach the first checkpoint - Sewer or Later | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

In the next location, use one more platform and reach the first checkpoint. If, in the previous level, you have obtained the yellow gem, you can now stand on the platform shown in screenshot 1 and access the secret location. Here, jump into the area with discharges. You have to be very accurate while jumping off the metal crates with arrows, thanks to which you will reach two floating platforms.

In the next corridor, there is the Clear gem shown in screenshot 2. After you have obtained it, try to RETURN to the starting point. Do not follow the path, because you will then miss some of the crates further in the main part of the sewer. Note – if you die along your path to the starting point, do not attempt traveling to the secret location, because you do not lose the clear gem.

2 - Sewer or Later | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
After you have returned to the main part of the sewer, move on and smash wooden crates as you go - Sewer or Later | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you have returned to the main part of the sewer, move on and smash wooden crates as you go. Carefully, get around the working fan (you cannot damage it) and approach the enemy with flame thrower. Just like earlier, move only after he stops firing the weapon.

In the next corridor, get around the barrels and the robots. Soon, you will reach the plate with the question mark shown in screenshot 1 (there are armored rats around it). Stand onto the plate to access the bonus round. Here, there are 16 crates to smash. Reach the crate with the exclamation mark and, after you hit it, approach the wooden crates on the green ones with nitroglycerine. Jump from crate to crate and make sure that each time you ling precisely on the spot. After you get past this point, reach the crate with the exclamation mark shown in screenshot 2. Hit it to unlock some additional crates on the left. Jump off the crate with the arrow and smash the last crate above with extra life.

Note – do not worry if you do not manage to smash all of the regular crates on the green ones with nitroglycerine. Later into the stage, you will be able to blow them all the green crates up and this will smash the regular ones on them.

After you have completed the bonus round, follow the sewers - Sewer or Later | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you have completed the bonus round, follow the sewers. Approach the working fan and hit the robot to damage one of the blades. You do not have to take the risk and cross the fan. Instead, you can wait for more robots to come by and these can also be thrown towards the fan. Regardless of what you did, reach the checkpoint.

In the next location, jump on the floating platforms and avoid water, or you will be electrocuted. Enter the tunnel and attack the robots with Spin attack, thanks to which you damage all of the fan blades.

You will reach the wall of crates shown in the above screenshot. It should be noted that it is here that you would have respawned, if you had decided to follow the path to the very end, after using the yellow gem. Take a short jump here and carefully, smash one of the regular crates. Get away from the wall, then, and wait for the explosions.

Right past the wall, there is a fork - Sewer or Later | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Right past the wall, there is a fork. Follow the right path first. Reach the two crates with exclamation marks shown in the above screenshot and hit them. After that, return to the fork and take the left path. Deal with the opponent with flame thrower and the robots. Use the floating platform to reach the balcony with several wooden crates on it, and the violet crystal.

Again, return to the fork and take the right path once more. Eliminate the opponent with flame thrower and jump over the small water reservoir. In the next location, wait for the opponent to stop firing and take a series of jumps (you cannot wait on the floating platform or it will sink). Fortunately, this is nearly the end of this level, because the nearby corridor leads up to the portal.

Collectibles:

  • Clear Gem – Smash all 42 crates.
  • 1 secret portal (takes you to the secret part of Air Crash).

Note – It is best to play this stage twice. The first time to smash all the crates and obtain the violet crystal. The second time around, focus on reaching the secret portal. It is at the end of the stage, which is why you will have to complete the cub ride again.

Description:

This stage is very similar to Bear It from the previous portal room. Also here, you will have to ride on the cub and avoid various obstacles along the way. In this stage, there are several new traps and additionally, to smash all the crates, you will have to exercise good reflexes in several spots.

Soon after the ride starts, you will have to jump over a larger reservoir, so make sure that you hold down the jump button and take the jump at the last possible moment - Bear Down | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Soon after the ride starts, you will have to jump over a larger reservoir, so make sure that you hold down the jump button and take the jump at the last possible moment. As an alternative, you can try following the game’s suggestion, i.e. press the boost button before the jump to accelerate.

Slalom around totems and killer whales. Also, watch your step when you will have to take either two short jumps over the ice holes, or a long one. Also, new types of opponents appear in this chapter – the locals shown in the above screenshot. They pick up and put down large ice blocks, in turns. Jump over the first obstacle of this type and run under the other.

After one of the longer jumps, turn the cub (in mid-air) towards the left part of the path, thanks to which you will avoid colliding with the TNT crate on the right. Then, perform a quick slalom to smash all of the remaining crates.

Avoid the seals and another TNT crate on the left - Bear Down | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Avoid the seals and another TNT crate on the left. Then, avoid killer whales and locals. A bit ahead, there is the violet crystal on the main path. It is virtually impossible to miss.

Be careful after you reach the spot shown in the above screenshot. There are two groups of locals here, but the first one do not handle the ice block (just to confuse you). You can easily jump over the obstacle. A bit ahead, there is a patch of ice and, right after you smash the first crate, you have to try to steer right, thanks to which you will also smash the other crate.

Towards the end of the cub ride, jump over the two green crates and run under the ice block. The cub will launch you into the air. After you land, hit the crate with the exclamation mark to smash all of the crates that you have missed.

You can now go to the portal ending the mission and jump between the floating platforms at the bottom of the screen (Note - they submerge - Bear Down | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

You can now go to the portal ending the mission and jump between the floating platforms at the bottom of the screen (Note – they submerge!). After you reach the ledge shown in the above screenshot, you will unlock the secret portal to the locked part of Air Crash. For using the portal, you will also be rewarded with Island Hopping trophy.

Collectibles:

  • Clear Gem #1 – Smash all 89 crates. It is possible to reach all of the locations with crates only after you use the secret passage in Diggin’ It (one of the levels in Alpine Warp Room).
  • Clear Gem #2 – Complete Death Route. To unlock it, you have to reach the pressure plate that opens it without dying along the path. Additionally, you also have to complete the Route without dying.
  • 2 secret locations (Death Route and the secret area unlocked after you use the portal in Diggin’ It).
  • 1 bonus round.

Note – It is impossible to smash all of the crates here the first time around. You first have to wait until you gain access to Diggin’ It in the fourth portal room (Alpine Warp Room).

In Diggin’ It, there is a secret passage that will take you back to Road to Ruin. To learn more, see the information at the bottom of this page, or the walkthrough for Diggin’ It.

Description:

Just like its name suggests, this level takes place in the ruins and its difficulty level is higher. First of all, you will be traveling over pits for the whole time and, as a result, even the slightest mistake may cost you life. Additionally, there are many traps here, as well as a demanding Death Route.

Head up the screen and watch out for the brown stone ledges appearing at the beginning of the stage - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Head up the screen and watch out for the brown stone ledges appearing at the beginning of the stage. Soon after you land on them, they will start to crumble, The white oversized mice can be easily eliminated, because they do not have any special attacks. Smash the crates and jump off the second mouse on the narrow ledge.

Head right and eliminate all the mice along your way. It is a good idea to jump off the last mouse, thanks to which you will first be able to smash the crate with the mask neighboring with TNT crates. To the right, there is the first lizard (the above screenshot). You should avoid them, or eliminate them with slides. Jump over onto the ledge on the right, where there is the checkpoint.

1 - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Head towards the upper edge of the screen again and avoid the lizard - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Head towards the upper edge of the screen again and avoid the lizard. Go right, deal with one more lizard and approach the spot with bursting flames. Get around it. A bit ahead, there is a pressure plate to the Death Route, shown in screenshot 1. It will be active only if you have not died, so far.

The Route is difficult. Start by jumping off the crate with the arrow. Head left and be prepared to jump over rolling logs similar to the one shown in screenshot 2. You can jump over them, smash them with Spin attack, or head deeper into the screen to let them roll by. Spin-attack then gorilla that has been throwing the logs.

In the next part, you will have to jump onto moving platforms, After that, go right and watch out for more rolling logs. Additionally, you have to remember here that you cannot stop on the brown poles. Deflect the logs either in mid-air, or while standing on stable platforms. Eliminate the gorilla and perform a slide followed by jump to land onto the swaying ledge on the right. Finally, you have to avoid the flames, but this is easy. You will soon reach the clear crystal.

If you have not completed the Death Route, go right - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

If you have not completed the Death Route, go right. Avoid the flames and the collapsing ledges. Additionally, you will run into a lizard. If, on the other hand, you have completed the Route, head down the screen after you return to the main part of the ruins. In both cases, you will reach a checkpoint and the violet crystal right next to it. Around, there also is an area with a crate with the exclamation mark (shown in the above screenshot). Hit it for regular destructible crates to appear.

Keep going along the ruins. You will encounter mice and platforms that may collapse. Unlock the next checkpoint and approach the upper path. You have to wait for the flames to disappear to continue.

Right past the fire trap, you will find a pressure plate with the question mark shown in the above screenshot - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Right past the fire trap, you will find a pressure plate with the question mark shown in the above screenshot. Just like any other, it will take you to the bonus round. In the round, there are 13 crates to destroy and first, you will have to reach the metal ones with exclamation marks bundled together. After you hit four of them, go right and smash the first crate that you encounter. The remaining 12 crates have been placed on two stable ledges and there are no problems smashing them.

After you return to the main part of the ruins, approach the two heads spitting fire and start running after the flames start to disappear (slide, if necessary).

Before you jump onto the ledge on the right, shown in the above screenshot, wait for the monkey there to jump right, because you can easily die after bumping into one - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Before you jump onto the ledge on the right, shown in the above screenshot, wait for the monkey there to jump right, because you can easily die after bumping into one. Quickly, follow the monkey and eliminate it with Spin attack.

Jump off the mouse and land on the TNT crates. Jump over the lizard at the right moment. After you reach the corner, hit the crate (it will blow up the green ones) and head deeper into the screen. There, you will find yet another monkey and just as you did earlier, eliminate it with Spin attack. At the same time, watch out for the crumbling ledges. A bit ahead, there is a corridor to the end portal.

Unlock the last portal:

It has already been mentioned that, in Road to Ruin, you cannot smash all the crates during the first play - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

It has already been mentioned that, in Road to Ruin, you cannot smash all the crates during the first play. Before you can do that, you have to progress to the fourth room with portals (Alpine Warp Room) and start Diggin’ It from there. At the end of that stage, note the spitting plant on the left shown in screenshot 1. Approach it and jump towards it. In mid-air, press Circle to body-slam it. This will destroy the plant and unlock the secret portal. You will travel to the secret room in the basement (screenshot 2) and here, you can use the portal to travel to the inaccessible part of Road to Ruin.

After you cross the portal, jump on the poles - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

After you cross the portal, jump on the poles. You will reach the bunch of crates shown in the above screenshot. Do not haste to destroy them, e.g. with Spin attack, because one of them is a TNT crate and you can cause a premature explosion. It is best to jump over the crates and co9llect extra lives.

Head on and stop on the small ledge neighboring the four nitroglycerine crates - Road to Ruin | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Head on and stop on the small ledge neighboring the four nitroglycerine crates. Take a long jump here, over the crates. So, first slide and quickly tap the jump button. This way, you will land in a safe spot (the above screenshot).

Move down a little and go right. You have to wait for the opportune moment to take a series of jumps, combined with avoiding the flames by the two large heads. Stop by the ledge, on which there is a crate with the exclamation mark. Hitting the crate will unlock the passage. You now get to the spot where you have started this level the first time around. Thanks to this, you can try to find and smash all of the crates required for one of the clear gems.

Collectibles:

  • Clear Gem – Smash all 58 crates.
  • 1 secret location (there is a hole left by a huge bear that leads to it).
  • 1 secret portal (allows you to unlock Totally Bear).
  • 1 bonus round.

Description:

In this stage, you have to escape. Instead of escaping from large boulders, you will be running from a huge bear. This level is difficult, because there are many spots where you have to take a perfect and quick action, without knowing what’s ahead. In fact, it will be impossible to deal with all of the traps at the first take. Also, the secret area is problematic, where you have to be precise, quick and patient.

The first chase starts right after you leave into the open - Un-Bearable | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The first chase starts right after you leave into the open. Just like in the case of stages where you have escaped from boulders, keep the bear at a distance. Along your path, avoid pits and mines, green nitroglycerine crates, electrified gates where you have to slide and hurdles that you can either jump over or smash with Spin attacks (the latter is a better idea, because this will save you time).

A bit ahead, you should also watch out for the lizard shown in the above screenshot. You can easily get around it, but when it comes to the next ones (ones in groups)m it is much better to jump onto them and not stop anywhere.

Right after you reach the first checkpoint, you will start the second chase scene - Un-Bearable | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Right after you reach the first checkpoint, you will start the second chase scene. In this phase, use the green pressure plates that speed you up and will allow you to gain distance from the bear. Also, watch out where there are three lizards and eliminate any of them by jumping onto it.

Soon, you will reach a wooden bridge and the bear will fall into a large hole. Stop, approach the hole (screenshot 1) and jump down, because you will find a secret area there. Now, you will have to play a very difficult sequence, where you will have to avoid hunters. You can eliminate them by jumping onto them, but you also have to avoid bullets whizzing by (screenshot 2). Make sure that you take long jumps over larger pits and watch out around turtles.

In the next part of this area, hit the crate with the exclamation mark and watch out for the armored armadillos (you can jump onto them, but this does not kill them), and for hedgehogs. Additionally, you should be careful near nitroglycerine crates. Try to collect Aku Aku masks, because they make you temporarily invincible, which will aid you against the most difficult traps.

Regardless of whether you have completed the secret location, you will be able to collect the violet crystal from the main path and you will reach the pressure plate shown in the above screenshot which will take you to the bonus round - Un-Bearable | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Regardless of whether you have completed the secret location, you will be able to collect the violet crystal from the main path and you will reach the pressure plate shown in the above screenshot which will take you to the bonus round.

Head right but, after you reach crate frames, get back and take a long jump towards one of the ledges above. Here, go left to reach a metal crate with the exclamation mark. Again, go right. Take a perfect jump off the crate with arrow, to fly over the green crates. Do not worry that you cannot smash them now,. Right after you complete the bonus round, you will find a crate with the exclamation mark on the main path and hitting it will blow up the green crates.

Soon, you will reach a checkpoint, which will start the third bear chase - Un-Bearable | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

Soon, you will reach a checkpoint, which will start the third bear chase. Use the green plates to your aid but, right after you are boosted for the second time, take a jump to avoid one of the lizards. Apart from that, watch out while getting through the hurdles, because there is a gate with discharges right past one of them. Smash the hurdle with Spin attack and slide quickly.

After you reach the next checkpoint, Crash will jump onto the cub and this will start the last part of the chase. While escaping, watch out for the TNT crates on the left, for the spot where you have to take a diagonal jump and new electrified gates (the above screenshot) around which you will have to slalom (fortunately, colliding with the gate’s frame does not end in instant death). At the end of the stage, you will be launched into the air, onto a distant ledge.

If you want to end this stage now, go towards the bottom of the screen and reach the portal (and collect the clear gem, if you have smashed all the crates) - Un-Bearable | Crash Bandicoot 2 | Levels - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Sewer Warp Room - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

If you want to end this stage now, go towards the bottom of the screen and reach the portal (and collect the clear gem, if you have smashed all the crates).

As an alternative, you can try to unlock the secret stage of Totally Bear. To do this, you will have to return to the pit shown in the above screenshot (which is where the bear fell). You have to perform a PERFECT slide (Circle) and jump (X)m thanks to which you will land on the path where the chase ended. Return to the cub, mount it and you will be warped into the room in the basement, where you obtain the No Bear Left Behind trophy. The walkthrough for the bonus Totally Bear stage can be found in a separate part of the guide.

Note – After you end this stage, you will have to fight a boss battle with Tiny Tiger. The battle has been described in a separate part of the guide.

Below you will find information about the duel with Papu Papu, a boss in Crash Bandicoot – a game that is part of the collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It’s the first boss you will encounter in the game and you will have to face him on the starting hub – N. Sanity Island.

Basic information about the fight with the boss

  1. It is the easiest boss to defeat in Crash Bandicoot. He uses only two types of attacks and both are easy to deflect. Additionally, you don’t need to wait too long for a chance to attack the boss and you can quickly finish the fight.
  2. Defeating Papu Papu is awarded with the brown trophy “Papu Popped”.

Run or jump away from the place where Papu Papu intends to hit the ground

Papu Papu uses only a long stick to attack. He always starts with hitting the ground with a great force. When you notice he prepares the attack, jump away from his way.

Jump over the stick - Papu Papu | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Jump over the stick

After the boss hits the ground with the stick, he will start rotating his weapon in the counter-clockwise direction. Luckily it isn’t a very troublesome attack – all you need to do is jump over it at correct time.

Jumping on the head of the boss will stun him and take away one of his health points - Papu Papu | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Below you will find information about the duel with Ripper Roo, a boss in Crash Bandicoot – a game that is part of the collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It’s the second boss you will encounter in the game and you will have to fight him soon after arriving at Wumpa Island.

Basic information about the fight with the boss

  1. The fight with this boss might seem hard at first, but all you need to do is memorize the rules and take advantage of the zones in which Crash is safe. You shouldn’t rush yourself in this fight, as it might easily cause you to make a mistake and fall into the boss, into the water or the explosives might detonate while close to you.
  2. Defeating Ripper Roo is awarded with bronze trophy “Ripper Ruined”.

Battle description

This fight takes place on nine green platforms surrounded by water - this means you must perform very precise jumps, so that you dont jump into the water and die - Ripper Roo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Jump onto the red chest to initiate a countdown - Ripper Roo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

If Ripper Roo is near an explosion, he will lose one health point - Ripper Roo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Below you will find information about the duel with the boss Koala Kong in Crash Bandicoot – a game that is part of the collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It’s the third boss you will encounter in the game and you will have to face him in the late phase of exploring the Wumpa Island.

Basic information about the fight with the boss

  1. Koala Kong is a slightly more challenging opponent that the two previous bosses. You must be precise when avoiding his attacks and you must try attacking him only when it might be successful. Despite that, you shouldn’t expect much trouble.
  2. Defeating Koala Kong is awarded with “Koala Konked” silver trophy.

Later in the fight up to two explosive chests might appear near Crash - Koala Kong | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Throw the big rock back to the boss in order to hurt him (it will only work if the rock wont hit the cart) - Koala Kong | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Below you will find information about the boss fight with Pinstripe Potoroo in Crash Bandicoot, a game that is part of the collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It’s the fourth boss encountered in the game and the battle with him takes place after completing first four levels on Cortex Island.

Basic information about the fight with the boss

  1. The duel with Pinstripe Potoroo is very easy if you don’t rush it. You should patiently wait for the right time to leave hiding spot and attack the enemy. If you follow this rule, you should easily win during your first attempt at the fight.
  2. Defeating Pinstripe Potoroo is awarded with “Pinstripe Patooey” silver trophy.

Battle description

Dont leave your cover - Pinstripe Potoroo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Dont move from behind the cover until the time is right - Pinstripe Potoroo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Later in the fight Pinstripe Potoroo will stop running across the level, but weakening him will become even simpler - Pinstripe Potoroo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Once the enemy has only a single health point left, he should jump on the central desk. There, after a moment his weapon will jam again. Leave the cover, jump and use Spin attack in the air to hit him and win.

Below you can find information about the battle with Dr. Nitrus Brio in Crash Bandicoot, a game that is a part of the collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It’s the fifth boss you will encounter in the game and you will have to face him during the late phase of exploration of Cortex Island, after completing a few missions from the visits in various parts of the castle.

Basic information about the fight with the boss

  • It is DEFINITELY the hardest fight in the game. Its difficulty is significantly higher that the confrontations with four previous bosses. During the encounter with Nitrus you must perform perfect jumps that will enable you to jump on the incoming monsters or avoid the potions the doctor throws. In addition to that, the duel with Brio is split into two phases. Luckily, the second phase is much simpler.
  • For defeating Doctor Nitrus Brio you are awarded with “Nitrus Broken” gold trophy.

Battle description – phase 1

In the first part of the fight Nitrus Brio is throwing green and purple vials. In order to complete this phase you must hurt the opponent six times. Once Nitrus has only 1 health point left, he will finish his last attack and transform into a giant monster. The second phase of the battle will start.

Jumping on the blob will send a green projectile towards the boss - Dr. Nitrus Brio | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

As for the purple potions, you must simply avoid them in the air and avoid the areas where they land and explode - Dr. Nitrus Brio | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Below there is information about the boss fight with Dr. Neo Cortex in Crash Bandicoot, a game that is part of the collection Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It’s the final, sixth boss encountered in the game and you will face him after completing all other levels on Cortex Island.

Basic information about the fight with the boss

  • The battle with Neo Cortex is easier than the above described battle with Nitrus Brio. Despite that, it might still be troublesome as it requires high precision and speed. Luckily, missing the attacks that might weaken the boss won’t mean instant failure – they will only make the fight take more time.
  • For defeating Doctor Neo Cortex you will receive “Cortex N. Capacitated” trophy.

Battle description

Run and jump to the sides to avoid being hit by the purple energy ball - Dr. Neo Cortex (final boss) | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Avoid the slow blue projectiles - Dr. Neo Cortex (final boss) | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Further in the fight the energy will gather in a green ball that will explode and weaken the boss after a few bounces - Dr. Neo Cortex (final boss) | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Run to the right and be ready to quickly turn around and jump left - Dr. Neo Cortex (final boss) | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N.

Bouncing back the last green ball will end the fight - Dr. Neo Cortex (final boss) | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
Bouncing back the last green ball will end the fight

The last part of the battle is very easy. Once Cortex has only a single health point left, he will start shooting only the green projectiles. Hit one of them with a Spin attack to defeat the boss.

Below, you will find information on boss battle with Komodo Brothers in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back that makes up the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. This is the second boss fight in the game. To win it, you will have to complete all of the stages in Ice Warp Room and find a violet crystal in each one of them.

Basic hints on boss battle

  1. Unlike earlier, there are two bosses to defeat here (they resemble Komodo dragons moving on their twos), but they share a single health bar. Apart from that, at a given moment, you will have to avoid attacks from only one of them, which is even more helpful in defeating them.
  2. For defeating Komodo Brothers, you are rewarded with bronze trophy “Komodo No Mo”.

Description of the battle

This battle is divided into two phases that occur in turns - Komodo Brothers | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

This battle is divided into two phases that occur in turns. In the first one, one of the bosses moves quickly around the arena, while spinning. Avoid this opponent and keep a safe distance. Wait for him to get dizzy (the above screenshot) and run up to him to Spin-attack him. While doing that, you do not have to lean the analog stick in any specific direction, because after taking damage, the boss will bounce off the wall and crash into the boss in the center. This will deprive the brothers of one health point.

In the second phase, the other opponent takes over - Komodo Brothers | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

In the second phase, the other opponent takes over. He starts attacking and tossing swords. To avoid taking damage, run around the arena in the anticlockwise direction. Apart from that, try to keep behind the attacking opponent and make sure that he does not bump into his brother, who should be still stunned at that point.

The rest of the battle relies on repeating the above actions. So, attack the first boss after he gets dizzy and avoid ranged attacks from the other, until he I done. Depriving the brothers of three points of health ends the battle and you win.

The chapter below is dedicated to one of the boss encounters seen in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back as seen in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Ripper Roo is the first boss encountered in the game (the character also appeared in the first installment of the series) – the encounter takes place after you’ve managed to acquire all violet gems found during the first five stages and is a pre-requisite to unlocking the second warp room.

Basic info

  1. Ripper Roo was also a boss in the first Crash Bandicoot. The new encounter takes place in a similar area, but has a completely different course. Nevertheless, the fight is not hard, but be ready for random locations of the explosives each time you repeat the encounter.
  2. Defeating Ripper Roo is rewarded with a bronze trophy called “Professor Pulverized”

Walkthrough

The encounter is divided into three separate phases, each consisting of two lesser ones - Ripper Roo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The encounter is divided into three separate phases, each consisting of two lesser ones. Begin by staying out of range of the TNT charges placed by Ripper Roo. When the boss starts placing the charges, move to the most remote corner (avoiding contact with the mobile boss) and wait for the charges to detonate.

The second phase is pretty much the same, and sees you avoid nitroglycerin charges - Ripper Roo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The second phase is pretty much the same, and sees you avoid nitroglycerin charges. The main difference between the previous phase is the fact that you cannot touch any of the crates as they will explode on contact. As previously, try to find a safe area next to one of the corners.

The detonation of the nitro crates will incapacitate your opponent for a short while - Ripper Roo | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The detonation of the nitro crates will incapacitate your opponent for a short while. Use the opportunity to come closer and use your spin attack (screenshot above). You’ll dispose Ripper Roo of 1 energy bar.

The following phases of the encounter play in a similar matter as the first one – survive the detonation of both explosives. The difficulty level will increase – you’ll find it harder and harder to survive the explosion. The charges detonate in a sequence – make your way to the initial blast area as it should be clear by the time of your arrival. Disposing the boss of all three bars ends the fight and rewards you with a bronze trophy – Professor Pulverized.

Below, you can find information on the boss battle with Tiny Tiger in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, which makes up Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. This is the third boss battle in the game and you will have to fight it after you complete all levels in ewer Warp Room and find a violet crystal in each one of them.

Preliminary information on boss battles

  • In this stage, you will have to jump a lot. The majority of the jumps are easy to take, but sometimes, you will be required to jump diagonally, or reach a safe platform quickly, which is when you will have to watch out.
  • For defeating Tiny Tiger, you receive the “Tiny Tricked” trophy.

Description of the battle

1 - Tiny Tiger | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide
The entire battle is fought on nine floating platforms - Tiny Tiger | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

The entire battle is fought on nine floating platforms. By default, each of the platform glows in green, which means that it is safe to jump onto. Jump onto successive platforms and do not wait to take another jump, because Tiny Tiger will keep following you around

Some of the platforms start blinking red, after a while, which means that they will soon fall down. Stop on one of such platforms (screenshot 1) and jump onto another one at the last possible moment. Tiny Tiger will ignore the red color, drop into the chasm and lose 1 point of health.

Note – That’s not it yet, because some of the other platforms will also fall down. In the first phase of the battle, only three platforms will remain completely safe. Reach one of them as quickly, as possible (an example shown in screenshot 2).

There are two more phases to go and they are very similar to the first one - Tiny Tiger | Boss Fights in Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot 2 - Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Game Guide

There are two more phases to go and they are very similar to the first one. Keep jumping over the platforms until one of them starts blinking. Stop on the blinking one and make the boss fall down. In the second phase, only two platforms will remain completely safe and one in the third phase (an example shown in the above screenshot). Depriving Tiny Tiger of three health points ends the battle.
