A pick-up truck is an useful mean of transportation that doesnt cost much - Tips for starting a game | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
A pick-up truck is an useful mean of transportation that doesn’t cost much

You should start the game by selling the red tractor and, for a small amount of money, exchanging it for a model that has at least 140 horsepower – although it seems like a small change it is reflected by the pace at which some machines work. You should also think about buying a Pick-up truck – you can use it to transport the goods that you want to sell, to bring items that you bought in a shop and complete missions. Remember that the game is focused on modernizing your equipment so you should do it regularly – when you sell a vehicle or a machine you get 3/4 of its basic price.

A field must be cultivated and sown first before something grows on it - Tips for starting a game | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
A field must be cultivated and sown first before something grows on it

Start with preparing your two fields. Rapeseed should be your first choice – it is much more profitable than wheat, although wheat allows you to get straw which can be used as animal bedding. But you shouldn’t worry about this in the beginning of the game. You should deal with livestock later when you can buy 10-20 animals at once because smaller quantities are simply unprofitable. You should also sell supplies from your warehouse. Theoretically, you can wait for an event – they usually happen once a day and it can be a mission or a high demand for a given type of goods – you can get up to 2.0x more money. But in order to have a quick start you should sell all your supplies.

Now, you must buy a fertilizer vehicle - it is cheap, it costs 11 000$ - Tips for starting a game | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide

Now, you must buy a fertilizer vehicle – it is cheap, it costs 11 000$. However – one, completely full tank lasts for about one field and fertilizer, that is used to fill it, costs about 2 800$. Because of that you should try and get manure. Fertilizing increases your crops by about 30%.

Next, you must buy a lawn mower. You should know that grass that you mow is not wasted – a new one will grow from it and so on. If you don’t want to pick it up now – it is okay. Later, you can collect a full semi-trailer on one green belt. Your first vehicle that can be used for collecting grass should be a forage wagon. You can also use it to collect straw from wheat. To get the most of it you need a powerful tractor. A mowed grass can be stored in livestock (cows and sheep) or you can take it to a biogas installation – there, you can get a few thousands for a full semi-trailer but what is the most important is that after you deliver grass you get a small percentage of slurry. After filling a silos you must wait some time until you can fill it again and get fertilizer (in the meantime you should store your harvests in other silos – there are three in total).

After collecting more money you can decide on having new types of crops - Tips for starting a game | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
After collecting more money you can decide on having new types of crops

When you get enough money you can try to modernize your cultivation or planting vehicle (only one option in both categories). You should also buy a new field – for 100 000$ you can buy a field south west from yours. Two tractors and the default combine allows you to deal with three fields without any problems.

Now you can start with breeding livestock. In the beginning you should only have one type of animals which can be either cows (at least 15) or pigs (at least 25) – thanks to them you can get free fertilizer. If you want to have pigs you need to plant rapeseed, corn and wheat (for straws, wheat can be sold). If you want to invest in cows you need to buy a baler. This is the only way to produce hay (first, you must use side-delivery hay rake on a mowed grass). All animals have two requirements: pigs – rapeseed and corn; sheep and cows – grass and hay. If you won’t provide any of the required elements for pigs their reproduction and ability to produce fertilizer will be reduced by a half. This doesn’t concern cows/sheep – you only need to provide either hay or grass (depending on what you want to harvest).

In the later stage of the game you can buy new vehicles, especially another tractor (so you can quickly prepare your field for new crops by following a combine) and a new combine when you decide on having a new additional field. You must always remember to fulfill your animals’ needs – when you have a lot of them they become very profitable but if they are something “additional” to you then you simply waste your time – if so then you should go back to crops so you can sell them later.

A few machines can work on one field - you just have to be careful so they dont block each other - Farming and fertilizing | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide

A few machines can work on one field – you just have to be careful so they don’t block each other

In Farming Simulator you only need three steps that will prepare your field for any type of crops or vegetables. First you must drive a cultivator and then a planter machine (only potatoes requires a different machine than the default one). Both types of machines have their upgraded versions that generates more resistance (requires a better tractor to use its full potential). Fertilizing increases your crops by 30% but it has no impact on crops’ growth speed. You can use an artificial fertilizer (first, you must fill a tank, it costs about 2800$ and it can be used to fertilize one of the smaller fields) or a natural – deliver grass/chaffs/straws to biogas installation or give straw to your cows/pigs and the animals will produce natural fertilizer. It is worth to know that you can fertilize meadows. Each stage of growth of every plant takes about 10 minutes so in order to get your crops you must wait about 30-45 minutes.

A combine can collect your crops which you can later sell or transport them to your warehouse by using a tipper - Farming and fertilizing | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
A combine can collect your crops which you can later sell or transport them to your warehouse by using a tipper

Finally, when your plants are fully grown (their color will be gold/brown), you can collect them by using a combine. Notice, that the default reel can only be used to collect wheat and rapeseed. Corn and sunflowers require a different reel (you can purchase it in a shop, available for all types of combines). Only potatoes and beetroots require a special combine which is attached to a tractor. A forage harvester is an alternative option for collecting crops – you can get chaffs from corn that can be placed in silos in biogas installation and made into silage and getting natural fertilizer.

A lawn mower cuts grass and allows you to collect it and side-delivery rakes can put it in rows - Grass, straw, silage | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
A lawn mower cuts grass and allows you to collect it and side-delivery rakes can put it in rows

There are two lawn mowers. The more expensive one can cut three green belts at the same time, therefore it is recommended to get it as fast as you can. After cutting grass you can:

  • Collect using a forage wagon;
  • Use side-delivery rakes and have the grass put in rows (you can do the same with hay or straw);
  • Tedder it (a teddered grass immediately becomes hay);
  • Hay can be collected by using a baler which creates bales that are easy to collect.

You can’t plant grass on every field. You can only buy meadows, you get one when you start a game. Meadows can also be fertilized after each harvest which increases the amount of grass that you get after next mowing.

Warning – remember to mow your grass regularly. You don’t have to collect it immediately after that – a new one will start growing on it and after mowing it the one that was already mowed disappears. This means that if you don’t need it you don’t have to collect grass after each mowing, you can do it after two mowing.

Gathering – wagon or bales?

Forage wagon: Allows you to gather grass and straw. Hay that is collected by a forage wagon is still grass. It requires a powerful tractor and even then the maximum speed is about 18km/h. Because of that you should use rakes and use individual gathering (you don’t have to be very precise) because machines gather a raked line in two (or more) tries – unless you have a big rake or a better (wide) combine. An upgraded forage wagon model is not worth your purchase in the early parts of the game – its only difference is the storage capacity.

Loading bales on a trailer is rather pleasant, bales can be placed on top of each other creating levels - Grass, straw, silage | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Loading bales on a trailer is rather pleasant, bales can be placed on top of each other creating levels

Baler: Sadly, this machine won’t allow you to gather grass but only hay and straw. There are two machines and the difference between them is the shape of bales, the capacity is the same. The only difference is the price and baler’s storage capacity – you can store 10 square bales but only 6 round ones. Whether you want to spend money on those with bigger capacity or not depends on the size of your fields.

Silage

One silos can only store one type of crops - Grass, straw, silage | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
One silos can only store one type of crops

What you can do with grass/hay? You can feed them to animals and take it to biogas installation (grass or straw, not hay) in order to get silage. You get a little bit of it (about 5% of what you delivered) right after you unload a trailer when you reach your destination. You also get a small amount of money – a few thousands of dollars. When you fill entire silos you must wait 1,5 hours until it will be emptied – you can check the statistics and see how the process goes. Sadly – when the process is over you don’t get a lot of silage. The only thing that happens is that you have an empty silos, without any effects. It is possible that this is a bug (the guide is based on the Android version of the game – ver. 1.0.0.3).

You can breed three types of animals: pigs, cows and sheep - Breeding basics | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide

You can breed three types of animals: pigs, cows and sheep. In order to buy animals you must drive with an animal transportation trailer to a shop. Here, you can also sell your animals if you have too much of them. If you don’t feed them you won’t get any goods. However, animals won’t die. Your farm should be optimized in a such way that you can give your animals whatever they need in time. First, try to choose only one type of animals. You deliver food and animals to the same place in your farm (you can see an icon of a given animal, you only have to stop your trailer in the right spot).

Pigs

They are the easiest to breed and are recommended as your first animals. An optimal starting number of pigs is 30 heads. Your starting fields allows you to provide them food without having any pauses in production. You earn money by selling pigs that are generated every 1:30-2:00 minutes. Each subsequent pig reduces this time by 2 seconds. When you give your pigs straw made from wheat they provide you with fertilizer but this has no impact on production. However, you have to feed them with rapeseed and corn – if you don’t give them one of the two types of food they will lower their reproduction by a half.

Cows

In order to satisfy animals needs you must deliver food to the place marked by an icon of a given animal - Breeding basics | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
In order to satisfy animals’ needs you must deliver food to the place marked by an icon of a given animal

Cows are rather hard to breed. They can, after some time, replace pigs if you buy a big field of grass and a lot of cows. They also generate fertilizer if you bring them straw which is useful for your next crops. In order to feed them you only need grass or hay – giving them both has no impact on their performance. The default meadow can feed about 15 cows. They also give you milk 1/second if you have 15 heads. Their reproduction time is about thirty minutes (when you have 15 cows) but this time is reduced with each new head by about 3 minutes.

Sheep

To transport wool and milk you must use a special trailer that can be found near your breeding place, you can access it right after you start a game - Breeding basics | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
To transport wool and milk you must use a special trailer that can be found near your breeding place, you can access it right after you start a game

Just like cows, sheep also need grass or hay (their performance is the same whether you give them one type of food or both), however, they don’t generate fertilizer. They provide you with wool which is the most expensive resource in the game. However, the process of getting it is very slow and because of that you must buy a lot of sheep and a big field. The starting meadow combined with hay or grass allows you to breed about 20 sheep. Their reproduction time is about 22 minutes when you have 20 heads (each subsequent sheep shortens this time by 4 seconds). The same amount of sheep (20 heads) allows you to produce 1 wool/second.

If you want to cut trees you will need a big initial budget. This is because there is only one machine that allows you to cut trees and it costs more than 300 000$. In addition to that you also need Fliegl Timber Runner trailer that allows you to transport logs + compact front end loader and a log fork attachment (or a loading vehicle with Ponse Buffalo trailer).

When the machines arm attaches to a tree you can start cutting - Forestry | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
When the machine’s arm attaches to a tree you can start cutting

Get near a tree – not all of them can be cut, some of them are only textures (you can go through them – those trees can’t be cut). You must adjust your position slowly – move the arm closer to a tree, then you must stop and press the action button – this starts the cutting, cleaning a tree and cutting it into pieces. Then, load logs on a trailer and take them to one of the three points of sell.

Milling machine can help you to get rid of trunks - Forestry | For Beginners - For Beginners - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Milling machine can help you to get rid of trunks

You can use a milling machine to remove tree trunks that are created after cutting. A new tree will grow from that place after about an hour. If you won’t remove a trunk – a tree won’t grow and because of that you can leave trunks in places where trees are a hindrance to you (e.g. near your fields). Tree cutting is quick and profitable – one tree gives you 3 pieces and one piece is worth about 1500$.

Prices can change, the green color is for good prices that are above average

The basic question is: what is worth cultivating. The answer is not simple – a lot depends on the way you play, how much money you have and which machines you own. It is worth to cultivate various crops so you can sell them during events when their price increases extremely. Below you can find a table that shows you approximate values of the best prices (excluding events) for a given product and approximate number of harvests from one of the fields available in the beginning.

Remember that corn and sunflower requires special combine attachments. Sugar beet and potatoes require special combines that are used only for those vegetables. In addition to that potatoes also require a special planter machine. You get chaffs by cutting corn with forage harvester to which you must attach a tipper. Trees can be only cut manually, this task can’t be assigned to your workers.

In this chapter you can find description for machines that serves as a driving force and can be controlled manually (excluding forestry vehicles, they have their own category). Here, you can learn about tractors, combines and transportation vehicles.

  • Tractors
  • Combines
  • Harvesters and headers
  • Forage harvester
  • Transporters

Tractors

There are 14 tractors that you can buy. They are used for various tasks on your farm. They have three statistics: power (horsepower), maximum speed and front end loader. Power is a parameter that determines how much speed will go down after attaching a machine. Forage wagon and a big cultivator generates a particularly big load. For optimal work for most of the machines you need about 200HP. A good idea is to buy JCB Fastrac 3230 XTRA tractor early in the game. In this version of the game you can attach machines in the front so your only choice is to decide whether you want a tractor with or without a front end loader. It only has two functions (after buying rather cheap attachments): loading bales on a trailer – you can eliminate this function by buying self-loading wagon for bales as well as picking up and loading logs – this function can also be replaced by other vehicle, Ponse Buffalo. Because of that you shouldn’t pay much attention to loaders and instead of that you can buy a more powerful tractor.

Combines

You can attach a trailer to a combine but you cant use it - Motor vehicles | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
You can attach a trailer to a combine but you can’t use it

Combines are used for harvesting. There are four available models and they have different speed, width of their front attachment, power and their storage capacity. Each one of them requires you to buy separate attachments. Buying new models is necessary when you develop your farm. The default one allows you to handle three fields. Since combines are slow it is worth to use transport trailers to transport them to fields that are far away. Remember that a transport trailer requires a tractor unit. In order to unload a combine you must drive a tipper near its left side – an arm will move automatically and if your position is correct then the combine can start emptying. You can’t harvest other crops if you don’t empty your machine.

Special combines are for potatoes and beets - Motor vehicles | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Special combines are for potatoes and beets

Notice that you can attach wagons to combines. Sadly, you can’t use their functions (e.g. collecting straw by a forage wagon). However, you can use tippers if you are often running out of space during harvesting and load parts of what you have gathered into them or at least have a second attachment. Of course, a big tipper is an additional burden and can slower your work slightly. There are also two independent combines: for sugar beets and potatoes. They must be attached to a combine or a tractor and only after that you can use them.

Harvesters and headers

In this category you can find combine attachments. Notice that each machine has two attachments: one to cut wheat and rapeseeds and to get corn and sunflowers. In this version of the game you can transport them freely by using any machine because after detaching them from a combine they are stored on a wagon.

Forage harvester

Forage harvester turns corn into chaff - Motor vehicles | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Forage harvester turns corn into chaff

Forage harvester is a very expansive machine. It has only one function – getting chaffs from corn which is the only way to get them. They are not that profitable but you sell them in biogas installations which gives you a little bit of slurry. If you want a functioning forage harvester you need to attach a tipper to its back, however, this slows the machine a little bit. Because of that you can decide to drive a tractor with a tipper next to a combine.

Transporters

Pickup truck is a very good investment in the beginning of the game - Motor vehicles | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Pickup truck is a very good investment in the beginning of the game

There are three vehicles that are used for transportation: one pickup truck and two tractor units. Their only purpose is to transport wagons and machines quickly on the map. Buying a pickup truck in the beginning of the game is a very good idea. When you attach a tipper to it, it will lose a lot of speed (45 km/h) but it can get quickly to a selected place when it has no additional weight. If you want to buy a tractor unit you must be careful – they have hitches that allows you to attach only three wagons: a semi-trailer (transport trailer), wood trailer and the biggest tipper.

In this chapter you can learn about different agricultural machines and what are the differences between their models. Here, you can read about fertilizer vehicles, cultivators and planting vehicles.

  • Cultivators and planting vehicles
  • Fertilizing

Pay attention to the order of the actions done on a field. The only exception is that you can fertilize a field before cultivating it

In this game you only need cultivators that are used for soil loosening (there are no plows in this game). There are only two available models that differ in width and how much additional burden they add. You must always cultivate your fields after harvesting.

A big planting vehicle can be useful if your tractor is powerful enough - Agricultural machinery | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
A big planting vehicle can be useful if your tractor is powerful enough

Using planting vehicles results in given vegetables/grains to grow on a field. Two from the available models are used for planting seeds of most of the crops that are in the game and just like a cultivator their only difference is the size of planted area during one ride. However, if you want to plant potatoes you need to use a special planting vehicle that is used only for those vegetables, you can find it in the same category as the last machine.

Fertilizing

Sadly, the best fertilizing vehicle uses artificial fertilizer - Agricultural machinery | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Sadly, the best fertilizing vehicle uses artificial fertilizer

In order to fertilize a field you can use various machines. They are divided into three categories and in each one of them you can find two machines – those, that are of the same type differ in the size of fertilized area and fertilizer capacity. Fertilizers increases your crops by about 30% but they have no impact on how fast something can grow. Artificial fertilizer must be refilled in your base and it costs a lot. However, it is a very fast method for increasing your crops. The second option is to use slurry – you can only get it by selling grass, straws or chaffs in biogas installation. There, you also have to refill your machine. The third option is to use a natural fertilizer that is created from straws and animal feces (cows or pigs). You can load it by placing your fertilizer machine on fertilizer icon near your breeding area.

This category contains information about a few machines that are used on meadows and allows you to get grass/hay – those machines are used for mowing, teddering, gathering or creating bales.

  • Lawn mowers, tedders and side-delivery rakes
  • Forage wagons and balers

Lawn mowers, tedders and side-delivery rakes

A basic lawn mower - mowing the entire meadow will take a lot of time - Working on meadows | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide

A basic lawn mower – mowing the entire meadow will take a lot of time

There are two models of lawn mowers. You should try to get Lely Splendimo 900 MC as quick as you can. It allows you to mow three green belts instead of one and it has a small load size. Tedders are machines that turn a mowed grass into hay. It happens instantaneously. As always, the difference between models is the width. Hay can only be collected by using balers – if you try to collect it by using forage wagon it will only collect grass. Side-delivery rakes are simple machines that are used for making rows of grass/hay/straws. Thanks to that it is easier to collect them. You must absolutely buy the better model Lely Hibiscus 1515 CD. The basic version has a flaw – sometimes, when you order computer to collect those rows of grass or hay it will go through the entire field instead driving only on the appointed belts.

Forage wagons and balers

You can also create straw bales - Working on meadows | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
You can also create straw bales

As it was already said many times in this guide, forage wagons are used for collecting mowed grass or straws (hay that was collected by this machine becomes grass). There are two available models, their only difference is in their storage capacity. These wagons are not that pleasant to use – you should get balers instead of them and make hay for animals. The reason for that is how slow those wagons are, even when attached to the most powerful tractors.

Wait with transporting your bales until the entire wagon is loaded. Thanks to that you dont have to go to the same place a few times in a row - Working on meadows | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Wait with transporting your bales until the entire wagon is loaded. Thanks to that you don’t have to go to the same place a few times in a row

There are two machines that can create bales: New Holland Roll-Belt 150 and New Holland BigBaler 1920. The first one creates cylindrical bales, the second one creates dices. You only need to attach it to a tractor and drive on hay/straws. Bales are created automatically behind the machine and you can easily pick them up and store. In order to collect them you can use a tractor with front end loader and place them on Fliegl DPW 180 wagon or use forage wagons (Ursus T-127 for cylindrical bales, Arcusin FSX 63.72 for dices). The only difference between these shapes of bales is that the wagons that collect them have different capacity: you can have 8 cylindrical bales and 16 rectangular ones.

This short chapter contains information about forestry machinery. Thanks to them you can cut, load, take and sell logs or you can simply cut down those trees that are a hindrance to your work and transport.

Cut down trees to remove the obstacles and earn money - Forestry machinery | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Cut down trees to remove the obstacles and earn money

This machine is used for cutting down trees and creating logs. In this game you can find only one machine that allows you to do it. It is slow so you should transport it by using transport trailer. To cut a tree you must slowly approach it (not every tree can be cut down, only those that are straight and tall) and observe the machine’s arm placing on a tree. When it closes on a trunk you must stop the vehicle and start the cutting by pressing the action button.

Loading and transporting

Front end loader can be used to load goods on a trailer - Forestry machinery | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
Front end loader can be used to load goods on a trailer

A tree that was cut into pieces must be loaded on a trailer and then transported. You can do this in two ways: by using Ponse Buffalo machine that combines a wagon and an arm that can load logs or use a tractor with front end loader and log grapple. Then, you must load logs on Fliegl Timber Runner wagon (this is the only wagon on which you can put logs!). This wagon requires a hitch and can fit 28 logs.

Milling machine

The last thing that you must do is to approach a trunk with a milling machine (fsi ST 65 T) attached to a tractor and get rid of it. A new tree will grow there after about an hour. However, if you don’t want it to grow there you should leave that trunk (e.g. when a tree can be a hindrance during your work on a field).

This category has a few useful information about trailers that are used for transporting goods. Some of them can’t be purchased. They can be found on the map and you can’t sell them (transportation trailer for wool and milk).

  • Tippers
  • Animal transportation
  • Transport trailer

Tippers

You can choose from four tipper models. Their only difference is capacity. However, you must remember that bigger wagon generates more burden and because of that a vehicle will move slower. The biggest one, Fliegl ASS 298, requires an “adapter” – Fliegl Dolly EA hitch or you must use a tractor. All tippers unload from behind in a place where you can empty them, in a warehouse or in a shop. You can’t combine tippers.

Animal transportation

A trailer used to transport animals - Transportation trailer | Machines - Machines - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide
A trailer used to transport animals

If you want to transport your animals to and from their pens you must get Joskin Betimax RDS 7500 trailer. It can transport up to 10 animals (8 cows). In order to buy animals you must drive with your trailer and stop next to a shop and select action icon. If you want to load/unload them next to their pen you must get to an animal icon in front of a pen and press action button.

Transport trailer

Fliegl Low Loader is a type of transport trailer that is used to transport big and slow vehicles to places that are far away – mainly forestry machinery and combines. This vehicle is completely optional. However, it requires Fliegl Dolly EA adapter if your vehicle doesn’t have a hitch. After attaching a trailer to a transporter press the action button to lower a ramp. After that you can drive your vehicle on it.

A message displayed in the upper left corner of the screen informs you about a mission or an event

There is a mission system in the game, however, it differs a lot from the previous games. Here, your goal is to transport trailers from point A to B. By completing them you usually get a few thousands of dollars. Because of that you should get a pickup truck – this vehicle is very fast and can reach the place where you have to pick up a trailer (missions have time limit: 10-15 minutes). Sometimes, instead of a mission you receive a message that there is an increased demand for a certain goods – you can sell them in an appointed place for about twice as much. It is worth to wait for such occasions when you have a lot of crops and you don’t need to get money fast. Also, because of those events it is worth to cultivate various plants on your fields.

The game allows you to manually drive the machines or you can hire workers so they can do certain tasks for you. If you want to develop your farm you are forced to hire workers or other players in the multiplayer mode. You can hire as many workers as you want, however, you have to pay them (1$/second per worker). You can also order them to drive your machines to an appointed place on the map or to complete a certain task (e.g. selling animals or filling a fertilizer vehicle).

The steering wheel icon is used for hiring workers

If you want to hire a worker you only have to place any of your machines next to a field and press the steering wheel icon. You should place your machine on the edge of a field so a worker won’t miss anything. However, workers can’t handle some of the obstacles (trees, other machines on their way) so you should check their work from time to time and when there is a problem you must manually correct a problem and call a worker again. They can refill your machines by themselves, e.g. vehicles for fertilizing or planting as well as refilling fuel.

In the case of tippers and vehicles with animals - when you press the steering wheel icon you get access to an additional menu in which you can choose a destination - Workers - Additional information - Farming Simulator 18 Game Guide

In the case of tippers and vehicles with animals – when you press the steering wheel icon you get access to an additional menu in which you can choose a destination. If the machine is a combine you can also use horn icon – using it when a combine is full calls a nearby vehicle with a tipper (it must be next to the same field) which allows a combine to empty its content.

If you want to give other orders you must open the map. After pressing the steering wheel icon in the bottom right corner of the screen you can select any place on the map, it can be a building or a machine, and the computer will try to deliver that vehicle in the appointed place. Other icons allows you to refill machines, fill up the petrol tank in your vehicles or go to a car wash (it is only a visual element, it has no impact on machine’s performance).

There are many differences, not necessary for worse, when compared to the PC versions

The newest, 18th, version of Farming Simulator is released on portable consoles and devices with iOS or Android systems. Despite of that it very similar to Farming Simulator 17 that was released on PC. Because of that the game shares many patterns and elements with those that can be played on PC. The most basic differences that you should know about:

  • There is only one map and there are huge restrictions when it comes to number of machines;
  • There are no difficulty levels;
  • You can’t attach more than one machine to any of the vehicles (nor you can combine trailers);
  • You must fill up your vehicles with gas and fill your machines (e.g. seeds) in appointed places;
  • You can leave a vehicle with your character;
  • You can’t get loans (instead of that there is a microtransaction system – coins);
  • Plants that you can cultivate: wheat, rapeseed, sunflower, corn, potato, beetroot;
  • Available livestock: pigs, cows, sheep;
  • A big range of automation is a plus: your workers can even transport an empty trailer to an appointed place on the map.
  • Machines and vehicles don’t wear out and don’t lose their performance over time;
  • You can’t change or combine fields – no plows;
  • You can’t plant grass – there are meadows in the game and you can buy them like other fields. They can’t be used in a different way;
  • Silage can be made from chaffs, grass and straws.
