More About Regalia: Of Men And Monarchs

Below, you’ll find a handful of useful tips that will make the experience much smoother:

The difficulty level means a whole lot. - General advice - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
The difficulty level means a whole lot.

After starting the game, you chose the difficulty level, which means a whole lot in this game. However, there are only two: story mode and normal. The Story Mode practically bereaves the game of any challenge. The quests will be simpler and fights can be just omitted; enemies deal very low damage. Use this mode only if you want the story alone from the game. The Normal difficulty, in turn, offers a much greater challenge and can be a real pain sometimes. There’s a ton of fights in the game, and many of them will require you to use all your tactical senses.

You can only save a game in two places. In your kingdom and your camp, if you’re on an expedition. Make sure you use a couple of slots to save the game – I’ve had an issue a couple of times during the game, when my save wouldn’t load.

Upgrading the Town Square to the 2nd level allows taking six companions. - General advice - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Upgrading the Town Square to the 2nd level allows taking six companions.

  1. You can take as much as six companions for your expeditions. Make sure the team is versatile. You can use four characters in battle – if one dies, there won’t be any reinforcements (they will only get back to action once you’re at the camp).
  2. In the following chapters of the game, you will be striving to resolve a number of quests before a deadline. Don’t worry too much – points are awarded for most of the in-game activities, and meeting the deadline is fairly easy.

By spending time with others, you develop relations and gain access to new skills. - General advice - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
By spending time with others, you develop relations and gain access to new skills.
  1. It’s incredibly important in this game to develop bonds with city inhabitants and your comrades. For every two stages of the given relation, you’ll gain access to new skills and bonuses. Remember, though, that it’s not always possible to work on the relations with others – check the calendar to see at what time it’s possible to meet the given character.
  2. The game is for the most part non-linear, so deciding which journeys you decide to embark on is entirely up to you. First, start by searching the locations near your kingdom – they’re pretty easy and you should have no problems finishing them.

Upgrading the pier enables you to fish there, yielding new equipment. - General advice - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Upgrading the pier enables you to fish there, yielding new equipment.
  1. Fishing is a great way of obtaining items useful in combat, especially at the beginning, when the team isn’t very powerful. Spend a couple of days here to get good items.
  2. You might consider increasing the tempo of combat – in the latter part of the game, fights can be pretty long; there’s no point wasting time on watching the same animations all over again.
  3. If you’re tired with cutscenes, remember that you can skip them by pressing space. You can read a summary at the end anyhow. There’s a bulky encyclopedia in the game, where every dialogue line is available.

Raising new buildings is necessary to improve relations with the public. - General advice - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Raising new buildings is necessary to improve relations with the public.
  1. New companions or citizens can be unlocked later in the game. After an adventure, some side events will often take place in the kingdom – when you get back, you will often be able to talk to a new character.
  2. As far as constructions and city management are concerned, the mechanics are fairly easy. Truth be told, at the beginning the main premise behind constructions is improving relations with citizens. Don’t worry too much about upgrading buildings in the initial stages of the game.

In this chapter you can find a detailed breakdown of the character tab and of the most important parameters:

1 - The character tab and most important stats - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

1. Base attributes. The characters are described with a number of different parameters that describe their combat potential. Here you can find how much damage does a character deal, how much HP they have, how accurate they are as well as the dodge and initiative (the higher initiative the more probable the character will have their move in combat sooner) parameters, along with the number of tiles they can move in combat. On top of that you will also find here the characters resistances, and penetration damage (that weakens resistance). If you hover the cursor on the additional info at the bottom, you will also see info about shield generation, different buffs, etc.

2 - The character tab and most important stats - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

2. Character skills. As your character develops, it gains empy slots, where you can allocate many different skills. You can access available skills by pressing an empty slot. Note that each skill has a certain value ascribed to it and that theres an information about free slots on the top. More powerful skills require more slots, so you need a good plan.

3. Character equipment. Here you can change your characters equipment: every character can use a specific type of weapon and two additional accessories that increase their stats. Go to a blacksmith, visit tradesmen or go for an expedition to obtain better equipment.

4. Level info. Your team gains experience as a team, not individuals. Here, you will find info about the characters current XP level, as well as the amount of XP required to get to the next level.

5. Other characters. Just click the thumbnail and you will swap to a different characters tab.

6. Appearance. You can change the characters appearance here.

In the top-right corner, theres an i icon - The character tab and most important stats - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

In the top-right corner, theres an i icon. Pressing it will yield a window with the available skills of the given character. Each character has four basic skills and one special which can be used occasionally during fights. Note that each character in the game has a specific role to follow such as the protagonist. Kay isnt overtly strong, but he can buff allies and replenish their shields

Every time a new character joins the team, check their character tab and available skills, and allocate abilities.

The schedule in the game is crammed. The calendar shows where you can meet certain characters throughout the week.

The mechanics of time will be introduced very early in the game – right after a short prologue. Each chapter of the game has a certain set of time-restricted goals. Almost every action in the game requires you to spend some game-time and brings you closer to the end of the chapter. Here are the actions that cost time:

  1. Visiting a location with an exclamation mark in your village. When you do, a short scene will commence and one day will pass. The same applies to other locations on the map – usually, when you investigate an exclamation mark, one day passes.
  2. Spending time with the part or citizens. You can visit your favorite character and spend some time with them. This will improve your relations and take one day of your time. Remember to check the calendar first – some characters only have time on weekends!

1 - Game-time passage and available actions - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
  1. Building and upgrading the buildings. In the main hall of the castle, after clicking the chest, you can construct new buildings and upgrade those already existing. This also takes one day of in-game time.
  2. Fishing. When you upgrade the pier to level 2, you will be able to fish. Going fishing gives you six chances to catch something. After that, a day passes.

Hovering the cursor over a location will allow you to see how many days does it require to explore it. - Game-time passage and available actions - Gameplay Basics - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Hovering the cursor over a location will allow you to see how many days does it require to explore it.
  1. Expeditions. In the main hall of the castle, clicking the globe allows you to go for an expedition. Reaching the chosen locations requires a certain amount of time (depending on the distance). Exploration is usually very time consuming (a week or more).

Each chapter is aroud 54 days. Utilize as much of this time as you can, sort out your priorities. Go for an expedition rather soon and don’t get back after just a couple days. Only if you’ve gathered a number of interesting items and finished a couple locations should you start considering getting back. As far as relationships are concerned, you should not try to please everyone. We’ll discuss that in detail later on.

Shortly after the beginning, the protagonist will seize control over Ascali. As the ruler, you can construct and upgrade buildings around the city. In order to open the building screen, got to the Lorren Castle and click the chest. Remember that building and upgrading buildings takes time as well.

The symbol of a lock means that the building is currently unavailable.

You will see a screen with all the buildings of your kingdom. At first, most of them will be unavailable, but alon with the progress in the game, you will meet more people whod like to live in the kingdom. It wont be until chapter 3 that youll be able to construct all buildings.

In order to be able to construct a new building or upgrade an existing one, some raw materials are needed. - City and building mechanics - City Management - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
In order to be able to construct a new building or upgrade an existing one, some raw materials are needed.

When you press the hammer icon, next to the name of the building, you will see the window showing the materials needed for construction. Those materials can be collected on expeditions on top of that, you also need to pay some currency (DLC). Most buildings in the game can be developed up to level 3 each consecutive level is of course more expensive.

The advantages of developing the city are twofold:

In order to unlock better stuff at, for example, Haksun, you need to upgrade his quarters and improve your mutual relations.

In the initial chapters, you shouldnt really worry about upgrading buildings. Focus on erecting new ones when new citizens arrive. Start thinking about upgrades in chapter 3 same goes for developing relations with chosen characters.

In order to unlock fishing, upgrade the Pier to level 2.

Fishing is a great way of gathering valuable treasures that may be very helpful during your travels. In order to start fishing, however, you need to upgrade the Pier to level 2. Only then does the fishing equipment appear, and you can partake in a simple minigame.

If you click on the fishing rod, the game will ask weather you want to spend the day fishing. Moreover, you can use any bait you want, including the one that increases the number of attempts. You can only access baits if you upgrade stores in the city. Youll be informed that there are six chances you can use.

Time to go fishing. The thing is pretty easy quickly press the left mouse button, until the fish bar reaches the indicated area. Now you have to contain it here for a few seconds. The task isnt very hard, but it does require some practice. Make sure you dont go out too far.

There are many a valuable item in the pond.

Everytime you manage to finish the minigame successfully, you will catch something. The number of items is huge you can gather items for combat (some very powerful ones, able to deal area damage), or accessories for your characters. You definitely should spend a couple days in each chapter on fishing some of these items can make huge difference.

As the time passes, the city will develop further. - Which buildings should be upgraded? - City Management - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
As the time passes, the city will develop further.

The game gives you a lot of freedom in terms of gameplay and upgrades. You can finish the whole game without developing the city, but that’s not advisable. Each building provides some benefits and makes things easier. Below, you can find a list of all in-game constructions along with a score awarded for their usefulness.

Castle Loren

The main location in the kingdom. You can talk with the team members here, visit the armory or develop the city from here. Clicking on the globe allows choosing the destination of another expedition. The castle cannot be upgraded and can do everything it does from the very beginning.

Merchant house

Here lives a merchant who has lots of useful stuff: accessories, weapons, baits, etc. Access to this one is unlocked in chapter 1.

How useful? – 5/6 – The amount of items that Haksun has in his shop is pretty impressive. You definitely should maintain good relations with him and upgrade the store to get even better stuff.

Placeholder Inn

This little inn is the best inn in the village. It’s owned by an enigmatic man and his talkative daughter. You will unlock this building very soon – right at the beginning. During the week it’s stormed by different characters – you can find most of the in-game characters in the inn.

How useful? – 3.5/6 – upgrading the inn lets you improve your relations with Lilka and Baz. This will mean increased income from expeditions and in bonuses for conversations that improve relationships.

Town Square

A beautiful place, a showpiece of your town.

How useful? – 6/6 – You can upgrade this place only once, but the bonus yielded by this is significant – it allows you to take one more person for an expedition. The campaigns, especially later in the game, are quite challenging, so another pair of hands will be invaluable.

Pathfinder’s Study

Here lives Miri, who will give you many sidequests, all of which will improve your relations with her. You can build the Study in chapter 2.

How useful? – 6/6 – Miri offers some of the best bonuses in the game for staying close with her. She can provide a bonus for finding good equipment after battles and unlocks highly useful passive combat abilities (bonus to damage, dodge and accuracy).

Alchemist’s Lab

A rather peculiar and eccentric scientist may inhabit this building. You can buy here elixirs and other items that will aid your allies, weaken enemies, etc.

How useful? – 2/6 – Although you can’t deny those items are useful, it’s much better to invest in fishing or blacksmith’s equipment.

Pier

Initially, the Pier has no real function, but after upgrading to level 2, it allows you to go fishing.

How useful? – 5.5/6 – Upgrade the Pier just once and you’ll be able to start fishing. Fishing may be pretty time-consuming, but the items you can obtain are usually very good. Besides, fishing is one of the activities required to complete the kingdom quest.

Smithy

There’s no city without a good blacksmith. He get’s there pretty soon, in the first chapter.

How useful? – 5/6 – Upgrading the blacksmith is a very good idea, as is keeping good relations with him. He can provide the best weapons and skills related to increasing damage.

Prospector’s Safehouse

An elfish girl will move in here in chapter 3. She sells accessories that increase the strength and resistance of your characters.

How useful? – 3/6 – the accessories are very useful, but you can get them elsewhere: during expeditions, at the merchant or from the pond.

Diplomatic problems from the gameworld can be considered in the castle. - Diplomacy - City Management - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Diplomatic problems from the gameworld can be considered in the castle.

From time to time, a diplomatic missive will be sent to you. In such case, you can take either side of the conflict. In order to engage in diplomatic considerations, go to the main hall, approach the big table there, and click on the handshake icon this will take you to the realm of diplomacy.

You will be able to side with either side. - Diplomacy - City Management - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
You will be able to side with either side.

The gameworld is in a state of war and your kingdom will occasionally have to side with someone. The nation of Lordemar is at war with Shedu, and Alheimr with the Epire. Every time a missive comes in, you will be able to chose the side you want to support. By supporting one of the sides, you will improve the relations with them, hence gaining access to a slew of valuable bonuses. Remember that you cant be friends with everyone you have to choose.

Every faction provides different bonuses, and yields a unique companion on level 3. - Diplomacy - City Management - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Every faction provides different bonuses, and yields a unique companion on level 3.

You can develop your relations with the given faction up to level 4. Every time you support a faction in a missive, it will add one point to your relations. The set bonuses from each faction is as follows:

On top of this, with every level, a faction yields items that grant reinforcements in combat. That can be very useful, especially during those missions, in which you have to survive a couple of turns. When it comes down to the choice of faction, you should consider your play style.

Shedu offer skills that increase damage and accuracy. Lordemar, on the other hand, increase shield every turn. I opted for Lordemar, as they have good perks and the team member provided by them can buff others, allowing them, for example, an additional attack. When it comes down to the choice between Alheimr and the Empire, its more difficult. I went with the Empire to strengthen my part with additional resistance. Mifune is also a valuable asset.

AbIn order to finish a chapter, you have to complete five kingdom quests from any chosen tab.

The main goal of every chapter is finishing a specified number of the so-called kindom quests. Usually you have to finish five of them and meet a deadline. Kingdom quests were categorized by:

  • Dungeoneering. Visiting and completing every location in the game means finishing a kingdom quest. Its very time consuming and most of the time requires around a week. Number of available quests: 19.
  • Construction. Constructing subsequent buildings and upgrading them to a certain level is another kingdom quest. Its a (relatively) quick and easy way of finishing these quests. Number of available quests: 7.
  • Inhabitants. Another quick way of completing kingdom quests is developing relations with inhabitants. Diplomacy also counts, as does siding with different parties of the conflict. Number of available quests: 14.
  • Experience. Kingdom quests are also completed when your team gains new experience levels. Number of available quests: 4
  • Crafting. When youre going to the blacksmith, alchemist or the pathfinder, you can craft items with them. For crafting a certain amount of items, you complete quests. Number of available quests: 9.
  • Activities. Its pretty easy here catching an amount of fish allows you to finish a quest. Its very easy, though you need a lot of fish (30, 60, 100 for subsequent levels). Number of available quests: 3.

Kingdom quests, although obligatory, mostly fulfill themselves during the game. Virtually every activity in the game counts as a part of some quest. You shouldnt be afraid of running out of time. To make sure everything goes well, make sure you visit a couple major locations in every quest.

Regular quests

During expeditions, you may often run into an exclamation mark it signifies additional adventures and side quests. - Regular and kingdom quests - City Management - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
During expeditions, you may often run into an exclamation mark it signifies additional adventures and side quests.

As in every pure-bred RPG, theres a ton of sidequests in Regalia. Many of them are conditioned by the plot, and are only unlocked when youre getting back to your city after an expedition. Sometimes, however, you may encounter and exclamation mark. If you decide to engage, you will take part in a short scene, where choices will have to be made. Sometimes taking part in these events unlocks a side quest.

In order to finish the quest, go to the location with the exclamation mark and engage in the special event. - Regular and kingdom quests - City Management - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
In order to finish the quest, go to the location with the exclamation mark and engage in the special event.

In order to complete a quest, you usually have to go to a location signified by an exclamation mark, where the events that were prompted during the previous stage will be continued. It often means fighting, so be on your guard. Finishing quests grants resources, experience, items and powerful equipment that can significantly improve your teams combat abilities. You should participate in as many of these as you can.

Take various characters for your journeys – it is best to make a party of several warriors, a support character and a ranger.

Once you go to the castle, you can press the icon visible on the globe, thanks to which you will access the journey planning screen. Here, you can define the make-up of your party (by default, you can only travel with five of them, unless you upgrade the city square). It is a good idea to consider it, because although only four characters take part in a battle, it is better to have more of them with you, just in case. The main character is the obligatory party member for each journey, and you will always have to have him on the party.

The order in which you want to explore the lands is up to you. - Journeys - general description | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
The order in which you want to explore the lands is up to you.

Upon completion of the party, you will see the vast world map. It is up to you which region you pick . Note that with reaching each location, time starts passing by and the journey itself takes around 7 days. If there is very little time left until the end of the chapter, there is no point in starting a new adventure.

In each location, there is a number of fields that you have to visit to complete a given dungeon. - Journeys - general description | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
In each location, there is a number of fields that you have to visit to complete a given dungeon.

Once you roll over the shoe icon, you will receive information about the specific dungeon:

  1. Crossed swords icon – informs you about how many battles you have to fight in the dungeon. Usually, their number ranges from 3 to 4.
  2. Dialog box icon- informs you about how many times you will be allowed to enter the camp and rest there. What makes this piece of information important is the fact that you can revive your fallen party members and save your game.
  3. Exclamation mark icon – informs you how many special events there are in the dungeon. Once you walk onto a specific field, there is a cutscene, where Kay talks to someone or interacts with an object. Regardless of your choice, various events can occur. Most frequently, you will receive additional experience points, new quests, or you will encounter enemies.

Journeys are the core of the game and in any chapter, you should visit, at least, several regions - Journeys - general description | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Journeys are the core of the game and in any chapter, you should visit, at least, several regions. Remember that each event of entering a location (by pressing the icon) a specific number of days. At the same time, if you do not complete all fields in a given location and return to the city, you will have to spend even more time on returning there in the future. Therefore, once you visit a dungeon, try to complete it. To make things easier for you, you can ignore visiting camps and go there to regenerate your party only every several battles.

There is the main objective to each battle, as well as a side challenge that increases, e.g. number of experience points at the end of the battle. - Description and course of battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
There is the main objective to each battle, as well as a side challenge that increases, e.g. number of experience points at the end of the battle.

Once you have reached the field with swords, you will be attacked and you will start the battle. At the beginning of the battle, you will learn about the main objective of the battle side challenges that increase the number of experience points you receive. Each battle is different has different objectives. Usually, you have to defeat some other opponents, or survive a given number of rounds, reach a specific field or neutralize one of the enemies.

Before the battle, you can position your party members. - Description and course of battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Before the battle, you can position your party members.

After you have learned the objectives, you will start to position your party members. You can only pick four of them for the battle. When it comes to the positioning itself, I recommend that you adopt the tactical approach. Much depends on the objectives, e.g. if you are supposed to defend, try to position your characters so that natural obstacles provide covers. Always try to have tougher characters fight in the first line. Keep Kay and the rest farther away from the enemies.

The battle screen presents many important elements - Description and course of battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

The battle screen presents many important elements. These have been described below:

1. Movement. Each of the characters in the battle can move a specific number of fields. During your turns, the character can move and perform one additional action: use an object or skill.

2. Enemy information. When you roll your mouse over an opponent, a short information note about him will display. Here, you can look up, e.g. health points, defense points.

3. Movement queue. Here, you learn about the order of movement of your characters. Characters with higher initiative have the way of movement.

4. Authority. Authority is very important and it plays two major roles during battle, You can use a single point for a character to be allowed one more action (,e.g. attack). Apart from that, each of your characters has a powerful ability that requires as many as four Authority points. The points are generated spontaneously, during turns.

5. Information about the battlefield. After you roll your mouse over this icon, you will receive information about the battlefield. Some of them, e.g. limit the freedom of movement of characters.

6. Additional actions bar. Here, you can access several additional options: end turn, use item, take back the move, wait for others to move and use authority to activate a skill.

7. Skills. Here, you can access all of the skills of a given character.

8. Information about the active character. This option informs you about a character’s name, health points and available defense points. Apart from that, above the emblem, there is an icon that will inform you about passive ability of the character.

9. Combat options. Here, you can access several options: flee from battle (you can start the battle over, without any consequences), terms of victory, save the course of the battle, speed up the battle and game options.

Each time you finish a battle, you will receive experience points, which you can use to upgrade your party members. Apart from that, you will ooften gain valuable items for the party.

Enemies will usually outnumber you - learn to use skills with care. - How to fight enemies effectively? | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Enemies will usually outnumber you – learn to use skills with care.

  1. First off, you have to employ tactical thinking in the game. Just like in many other games with turn-based combat, in Regalia you have to learn to use your characters effectively.
  2. Do not charge at the enemies and allow them to approach you. The enemy tends to attack the closest character within sight and it is best to assign the toughest characters for the initial fight (Levant, Griffith).
  3. Enemies will usually come in greater numbers and it is a good idea to use it as their disadvantage. Block their access to your characters by forming obstacles in the battlefield and fight several units at a time. Also, try to deal AoE damage.

AoE skills are perfect against groups of weapon enemies. - How to fight enemies effectively? | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
AoE skills are perfect against groups of weapon enemies.
  1. During combat, you cannot save the game, and characters’ skills often miss their targets. You should unlock perks and gather equipment that increases your accuracy, thanks to which you will avoid frustration.
  2. Always remember about the authority factor in combat. Apart from the fact that you can use it to activate the strongest skills, you can activate the character once more, after you have already performed an action. This is highly useful, if you use an AoE spell, use up 1 authority point and use yet another skill.
  3. Each of the characters has a shield factor that the first to absorbs damage dealt to characters. As soon as its value drops to zero, damage is dealt to health points. Some skills ignore this value and affect health.

Demon summoned by Aliss is useful for virtually any battle. - How to fight enemies effectively? | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Demon summoned by Aliss is useful for virtually any battle.

  1. Kay is an inconspicuous but powerful character. His first skill provides lots of armor points to the selected character – always cast it on Levant/Griffith thanks to which they will become tougher and virtually invincible. Other characters may focus on dealing damage to enemies.
  2. Aliss can summon a powerful demon that makes many battles easier. It is best to cast the wall of fire onto the demon (damage from fire extend the summon’s presence in the battlefield) and provide him with armor points. The demon will be able then to eliminate many opponents.
  3. It is necessary that you improve your relations with your favorite character – this will grant you access to modifications of their skills and will buff them up. This is very useful in case of, e.g. Aliss and Signy.

Kay, Levant, Aliss and Signy make a perfect party that can fight off any danger. - How to fight enemies effectively? | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide
Kay, Levant, Aliss and Signy make a perfect party that can fight off any danger.
  1. Remember that you cannot regenerate health in combat. If someone in the party dies in battle, he will no longer be available during the journey, unless you reach a camp. This is why you should get into habit of retreating the wounded from the battlefield to avoid loses in your ranks.
  2. Kay, Levant, Aliss and Signy. Make an interesting party make-up. Levant is your typical tank, who takes on all damage from the enemy. At the same time, he has access to stunning and can silence enemies for a turn. Kay’s job would be then to cast protective spells onto Levant and occasionally to attack/cast banner. Aliss is a versatile character and can engage enemies with very strong spells, plus she can summon the demon, which is very useful in many situations. Signy is very strong with her use of AoE attacks and she is highly mobile, at the same time. She is perfect for destroying distant targets and her ultimate skill is highly effective.

In this case, your objective is to defeat a strong troll - Example battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

In this case, your objective is to defeat a strong troll. Unfortunately, in the previous battle, one of your characters has been killed and you will have only three characters for this battle. At first glance, it seems an impossible battle, but you will learn how it is possible to win here.

Position your characters at a long distance from each other - have two of them fight with wolves, and have Signy take position closer to the troll - Example battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Position your characters at a long distance from each other – have two of them fight with wolves, and have Signy take position closer to the troll. Approach to the distance that will allow you to use her special skill – Massacre and deal damage to both the troll and the black wolf.

In the meantime, deal damage as Kay and retreat to hide behind the projecting tree root - Example battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

In the meantime, deal damage as Kay and retreat to hide behind the projecting tree root. When it’s Aliss’s turn, join Kay and separate yourselves with a fire barrier. If the wolves try approaching you, they will receive high damage from fire.

In this case, things have taken an unfortunate turn - Example battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

In this case, things have taken an unfortunate turn. Signy’s attacks will miss and the troll will obliterate her with a stone toss. There are two characters left, surrounded and on the verge of dying. Use Kay’s and Aliss’s offensive skills to deal damage to the white wolves.

Fortunately, the previously cast barrier will burn up one of the wolves, and the second one will die from physical damage - Example battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Fortunately, the previously cast barrier will burn up one of the wolves, and the second one will die from physical damage. As Aliss, summon the flame demon and have it attack the troll. In the next turn, kill the black wolf and replenish armor of the demon, using one of Kay’s skills.

The remaining part of the battle is very easy - Example battles | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

The remaining part of the battle is very easy. As Kay, keep replenishing the demon’s armor and, if necessary, use your ultimate skill. Aliss, on the other hand, should make sure that the demon is standing in the fire wall (thanks to which it will remain on the battlefield for longer). Occasionally, she can also cast offensive spells on the troll. Although the opponent is tough, he will be unable to fight through the armor and will finally fall.

Commentary: The above battle is a perfect example of the fact that you can win even a tough battle. Although all the odds were against your characters – frequent misses, starting with fewer characters, no buffing items, skillful commanding allowed them to win. You can well use Aliss’s demon, replenish his armor and try to figure out your own tactics to keep winning.

The maximum of companions available for fight is twelve. You will learn about eight of them later in the game, whereas the remaining four become available through diplomacy. Below, you can read descriptions of six of them, who are the best in my opinion.

  • Kay
  • Aliss
  • Levant
  • Signy
  • Grenn
  • Diego

The main character that will always have to take part in a journey (although not necessarily in a battle) - The best combat party members and skills | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Kay

The main character that will always have to take part in a journey (although not necessarily in a battle). The young sovereign is highly versatile and useful. His first skill Command grants 20% maximum armor. Kay can use this skill every turn and, when it is cast on a powerful tank, effects are excellent. Apart from that, his attacks are strong and he can support others by casting banner that increases damage dealt. Kay is excellent in any party and he helps survive the toughest of battles.

The magical Aliss is one of the most useful characters in the game, Her Firefly deals 60% basic damage and skips from enemy to another - The best combat party members and skills | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Aliss

The magical Aliss is one of the most useful characters in the game, Her Firefly deals 60% basic damage and skips from enemy to another. She can cast a flame barrier that deals damage to enemies that cross it. She deals lots of damage also using the Inferno AoE spell. However, her greatest asset is the Lord of the Flames, which helps in any battle. Aliss is an excellent character for any party.

A soul imprisoned in a powerful suit of armor - The best combat party members and skills | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Levant

A soul imprisoned in a powerful suit of armor. Levant is a walking fortress. In the game, there are several tanks, but in my opinion, Levant is the best of them. He is incredibly resistant to any damage, he can form phantom walls, knock back enemies and teleport around the battlefield, using his Holy Driver. Also, it is a good idea to cluster your characters around Levant, because his Holy Nova provides the party members with lots of armor. Finally, his ultimate skill, Cry of the Brave, makes all enemies in the battlefield unable to use their skills for 1 turn. Levant is perfect for the first line of attack and unarguably, it is a good idea to take him to the party.

The savage and fearless Signy is one of the best dpss in the game - The best combat party members and skills | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Signy

The savage and fearless Signy is one of the best dps’s in the game. She has AoE skills: Pounce is highly useful as a dash towards the enemy, and Whirlwind deals immense damage to enemies within range. She has an immensely strong skill, Masscre, which lands four strong attacks on selected enemies. If there is only one enemy within range the four attacks are landed on him. This is a perfect skill for eliminating, stronger opponents and useful in the battle.

Grenn is a typical rogue that remains in shadows and deals deadly damage from there - The best combat party members and skills | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Grenn

Grenn is a typical rogue that remains in shadows and deals deadly damage from there. His Crippling Strike imposes Poisoned onto enemies, whereas Diversion imposes Slowed Down and blinded. Grenn can also stun enemies and avoid taking damage. This is a perfect companion for the battle, where you have to incapacitate a single, strong enemy. Also, he is useful when you have to relocate your party into specific fields and eliminate a specific enemy.

Diego is a self-assured archer - The best combat party members and skills | Dungeons and combat - Dungeons and combat - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Diego

Diego is a self-assured archer. However, this goes hand-in-hand with his mastery – he makes a highly valuable addition to the party. Diego collects charges of “Overconfidence” using Quick Shot. Overconfidence can be used to buff up his Tar Shot and Cobra Shot. Thanks to this, he will deal more damage and slow down enemies more effectively. His ultimate skill, Money Shot affects multiple enemies and has a considerable range. Diego is especially useful when you have to defend against a larger group of enemies.

Watch out, because the woman casts AoE spells. It is best to approach her as Griffith, while keeping your distance as Kay. After the fight, you will learn the woman’s name and she will join your party.

After a while, you will reach an encampment, where you can regenerate your health. After you reach the next field, you will find out that a group of bandits has crossed your path. Regardless of your decision, you will have to fight them. The battle is a perfect opportunity to put to proof combat value of your new party member. As the woman, attack larger groups of enemies and cast Whirlwind. Have Kay replenish armor whereas Griffith can fight the rest of the enemies. After the battle, return to the city and celebrate your first successful journey.

In the castle, the grandfather’s spirit will tell you to complete 5 royal quests before 54 days elapse. Get busy!

You have 54 days to complete 5 royal quests - Royal quests | Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

You have 54 days to complete 5 royal quests. First, set out for a new journey. It is best to pick a location closest to Ascala – they are easy to complete and enemies aren’t demanding. The only obstacle may be the fact that your party is made up of fewer than four companions and you may be outnumbered by the enemy. However, try to use your resources effectively – send Signy to battle and put her in position that will allow her to deal damage to groups of enemies. You can use Griffith to taunt enemies, which will keep the larger enemies occupied. Remember that you can revive your party members in camps, during the journey.

As soon as you end the journey, new events will occur in the kingdom - Royal quests | Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

As soon as you end the journey, new events will occur in the kingdom. A merchant and a mysterious woman will appear in the city, who will soon introduce herself as Aliss. It will turn out that she wields magic. It’s perfect, because your party will make use of a ranged character. Include her in the party and set out for another journey. This time around ,it is going to be even easier – against the four of you, enemies should stand no chance. Apart from that, you will receive new gear for your party, as well as experience points, which will additionally strengthen the party.

At this point, take another journey - Royal quests | Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

At this point, take another journey. There is no point in wasting time and new events will have place anyways, in the background. Just like earlier, it is a good idea to pick locations near the city. Spend some time on learning how to use Aliss’s skills. Especially the last one. The summon is very strong and it is definitely a good idea to use it in battles. As soon as you complete three journeys, return to the city and sell the items you don’t need.

As soon as you have completed 2-3 journeys, you can return to the city. There is still plenty of time to complete royal quests. As of now, you have already completed 3/5 (for each dungeon you have completed) and you can focus on your kingdom now.

Start by spending one day with each character - Finishing royal quests in Chapter 1 | Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Start by spending one day with each character. Not only will you complete a royal quest this way, but also gain access to a number of new skills. Merchants in the city also unlock their shops and you will be able to buy from them. It is also a good idea to spend some additional days to build your friendship with Aliss and Buzz – this will provide you with additional bonuses in gaining their sympathy through conversations.

After that, upgrade the bridge to the second level of experience and start fishing - Finishing royal quests in Chapter 1 | Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

After that, upgrade the bridge to the second level of experience and start fishing. You will spend several days on doing that and it will definitely profit you – you will obtain many valuable items and will complete another royal quest. You can also upgrade the courtyard to the second level, thanks to which you will be able to take 6 characters on journeys (soon, more characters will join you).

In the meantime, you should have gained access to a new party member - Levant, a powerful warrior in a huge armor - Finishing royal quests in Chapter 1 | Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

In the meantime, you should have gained access to a new party member – Levant, a powerful warrior in a huge armor. He makes an excellent companion and is the best tank in the game. He has a number of excellent skills and he is highly valuable in battle. He can replace Griffith – although much depends on the battle itself and its objectives.

Also, remember to distribute new skills among your characters on a regular basis - Finishing royal quests in Chapter 1 | Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Walkthrough for Chapter 1 - Regalia: Of Man and Monarchs Game Guide

Also, remember to distribute new skills among your characters on a regular basis. At this point, your party should be at the 3rd experience level and you can pick several new abilities.

The first chpter should soon end. You have completed five royal quests, but it is only the beginning of your adventure!
