Sony has published its list of the best-selling PlayStation Store games during October 2016, and it’s the first month in which we’re getting a look at the top-performing games for PlayStation VR.
On PS4 in the United States, Battlefield 1 was unsurprisingly the top seller, with Skyrim: Special Edition, Mafia III, FIFA 17, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 rounding out the top five. Notably, Titanfall 2, which made its debut late in the month, came in at No. 9. Prior to release, there was speculation that its release date could cost it sales, coming so close to both Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
In terms of VR games, Job Simulator, Batman: Arkham VR, and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood make up the top three. This list may be the most useful one Sony provides, as many VR games are only available digitally, whereas the other lists consist of a large number of games also sold at retail. That said, both Arkham VR and Rush of Blood are available at retail, making their showings on the digital-only charts all the more impressive.
There’s not a lot of note in the PS3 or Vita lists with those platforms seeing fewer new releases, although Dragon Quest Builders–absent from the PS4’s top 20 list–was No. 1 on Vita. It costs $20 less on Vita ($40 to the PS4’s $60), but the two don’t offer cross-buy or cross-save support. World of Final Fantasy, another new October release, also charted on Vita (No. 3) but not PS4.
